The island of the curse

3rd chapter

3rd chapter

The next morning they did not get up until after noon. I Dad still didn't ask them any questions about the previous night, he just said, "Please promise me you'll never row to the island again!" The three sisters promised him, but all three knew they would go back to the island. Her father knew it too and that's why he planned them every day so that they didn't have time to go to the island. One day they drove to an amusement park, the next to a cove far from the island, another to the indoor swimming pool or to the cinema, even if the film wasn't worth seeing. One day they even went on a riding tour. Although her father is terrified of horses as he was once bitten by a horse when he was a little boy. Every evening they would watch a movie at home or go to a restaurant to eat. They had a lot of fun together and the three of them got used to the amusing days.
Zoé knew she had to make it back to the island. She had to see the Nameless Boy again and find out his secret. She got hold of the most important items she needed, such as a large backpack, a flashlight, army food, a pocket knife, and a large drinking bottle. The next full moon night, Zoé set off, she had everything ready beforehand, so she set the alarm clock for 12:00 midnight.
At the same time, media reporter Raul Müller got up and made his way to the island. He sensed a good story, which he wasn't wrong about.
Zoé, who was already on the way to the boat, had no idea that someone else, at the same time, was also getting into a boat to row to the island. Zoé was so nervous that she couldn't find the boat straight away, she thought she had got lost. But it was because her father moved the boat because he thought he could prevent the girls from finding the boat. When she finally sat in the boat, it started by itself. Zoé was not surprised, because the last time they drove back, she didn't have to row. On the other hand, someone else would probably have been too deeply concerned about it. So Zoé took the boat, no wrong, the boat went with her to the island. It wasn't long before she could see the outlines of the island out of the darkness of the night. The boat skilfully curled past the large rocks that were scattered around the island. A little later they moored and Zoé pulled the boat ashore so that if the tide came, it would not be washed away.
Zoé was dead tired, so she just unpacked her sleeping bag, as it was warm enough to sleep in the open air. She yawned loudly and said to herself, "I'll pitch the tent tomorrow when I've had a good night's sleep." As soon as she was wrapped up in her sleeping bag on the floor, she was asleep. Fortunately, because otherwise she would have heard the terrifying noises of the wild animals and therefore could not have slept as peacefully as she did now.
Meanwhile, the reporter Raul Müller was completely out of breath when he got to the island, because he had to row himself in contrast to Zoé. It was far too dark for him to see Zoé's boat. He was looking for a sheltered place to sleep, he groped around in the dark, he only missed Zoé by a hair. Raul wandered around for a while until he said to himself "oh what the heck I can sleep here for one night, because I don't like to take a single step!" So he let himself fall into the soft grass, at least at first he thought what it was . “This grass is soft, almost like a nice warm fur blanket,” the reporter mumbled softly to himself. Suddenly the grass began to move and make strange noises. Suddenly the soft something straightened up to its full size. Then the reporter no longer thought that it was grass, but realized that it was a huge, furiously roaring bear.At first his legs failed him because of fear, what he had been lying on seconds ago was a bear over 2 meters tall. But when the bear started to roar again, it ran for its life. When he got to his boat, he jumped in and grabbed the oars with shaky hands. Only when he could no longer hear the bear roar did he stop rowing and fall asleep from exhaustion.
The next morning Zoé woke up late, the sun was already at its highest point. She ate some of her provisions. After having eaten enough, she set to work to put up the tent. It didn't take long before the tent was up. Zoé stowed all her belongings in her tent and then set off to explore the rest of the island. Of course also to look for the mysterious boy, but she just didn't want to admit it to herself. So she strolled through incredibly fine, jasmine blossoms, wild roses and meadows scented with poppy seeds. Through forests, which she loved to walk because it was nice and cool there compared to the meadows.
As she was walking through a forest again, she heard a crack. Her heart jumped with joy because she assumed it was the boy she was looking for. But she was wrong. Carefree, she called "Come on out of the bushes, I'll get into it, the one who got lost on the island!" When, as she suspected, it still did not appear, she called again, "Come on, show yourself now." "You know who I am !?" This time, however, a little more uncertain. Suddenly a bear, upright on its hind legs, came out of the bushes. In shock, Zoé let out a shocking scream. The bear winced briefly, but then ran roaring towards Zoé. Perhaps it is worth noting that it was the same bear that drove the reporter away. Because on the whole island there is only one bear who thinks he is something like a watchdog. She was about to turn around to run away when an arrow whizzed past her and hit the bear in the chest. He swayed, took one last step towards Zoé, but then fell to the ground and lay there motionless. Zoé turned around looking for her savior and looked directly into the beautiful, blue-green eyes of the unknown boy. She was able to cover her mouth with her hand just in time so that she couldn't escape another scream. “Thank you very much for saving my life, how can I ever make it up to you?” Asked Zoé, “By telling me your name.” The boy's reply was, “Oh, I'm Zoé Peyer,” she replied whereupon the boy said, "I'm delighted to make your acquaintance with Zoé. Would you accompany me a little longer?" "Yes, of course, but only on one condition, if you also tell me who you are." Zoé asked back, "Oh, Please excuse my indisposition, I'm Alan, Alan von Wiesental and now come Zoé, I'll show you my world, of course only if you want. "Alan said," Oh, of course I want to get to know your world. "Zoé exclaimed with joy. Alan took Zoé by the hand and led her over heavenly smelling meadows, through the cool forests and over endless country roads. He stopped in front of a large wall with a huge archway adorned with wonderfully carved figures. “So now we're about to enter my world.” Alan announced. She squeezed his hand tighter (which she was still holding) in excitement. They walked slowly towards the passage in the stone wall. Zoé breathed in the sweet smelling air deeply and took the last step that separated her from Alan's world.
