Chapter 1
The childhood of Luffy and Ace

When Luffy was a kid he only had his brother Ace and his grandfather Garp because his father just ran away. He had never met his mother either. His grandfather took over the upbringing of the two brothers in the windmill village.
"Hey Ace wake up. Breakfast is ready.", Luffy weighs his big brother. “What?” “Grandpa is clearing up.” At these words, Ace jumped out of bed and ran downstairs. When he got downstairs he saw that the table wasn't even set. While Ace wondered and wondered what Luffy had been thinking, his grandfather came in with a large bag of rolls. "Oh Ace, you are already awake?" "Yes. Luffy woke me up.", Ace answered, still sleepy. "Where is he anyway? He should set the table."
Shortly after Ace finished the tablecloths, Luffy walked into the kitchen and sat down, grinning. "Pretty clever Luffy.", Garp greeted his grandson. "What do you mean by that?" Ace wanted to know. "Well I asked Luffy to wake you up so you could set the table. And as you can see it worked.", Garp laughed in response.
"Why did you do our grandpa the favor of fooling me?" Asked Ace from his little brother. "I wanted to argue for the thing from yesterday and also Grandpa has promised me that he won't throw me into the ravine today or do anything else with me. You know what he always does with me." "And what about Me? If he doesn't annoy you as usual, it's my turn, "protested Ace. "And because of yesterday, I'm sorry that wasn't an intention." "I know, but I just wanted to play with you in peace today. And he won't annoy you today either. That was also part of the deal." Ace laughed at this and stood up. "Come on or don't you want to play?" Luffy's face broke into a huge grin and he jumped up to follow his brother.
First they played a prank on their mayor and then they ran into Makino's pirate hangout bar to hide there. Makino already knew that and read them both behind the counter, where the mayor Woop Slapp never looked for them. The two knew that and so they took advantage of their knowledge. After Woop Slapp had examined the bar, he only said: "You have won again. You can't be angry with you for a long time. But don't overdo it with the pranks." When he was gone, Luffy and Ace came out and sat on the bar stool. "Do you want a drink?", Makino asked friendly and the two brothers nodded. "Have pirates dared come here again?" Asked Ace. "No, unfortunately not yet. The navy has cleaned up here well. And there are no more pirates in the area. If this goes on like this, I have to shut down my bar for better or for worse."In the following days it went on as usual. Luffy and Ace were bullied and beaten by their grandfather. The two of them didn't like their grandfather very much, but they had no choice but to live with him. They had never met their father and he had abandoned them and their mother is said to be dead. With that Garp was the only one left in their family.
Garp tried to train them to be strong when they join the Navy. That was her grandfather's dream since he was the famous Vice Admiral Garp. His grandchildren should be just as famous as he was.
When Garp was summoned to the Navy’s East Blue Headquarters, he took Ace with him to show him how things work in the Navy. He left Luffy at home because Garp thought he was still too young. And so Luffy had to stay on the windmill village. Makino was supposed to take care of Luffy while Garp and Ace were at headquarters.

Just a day after Garp got rid of Ace, pirates came to the village to rob it. The whole village was threatened and nobody could defend themselves. The village would have been lost if there hadn't been another ship anchored. It was a pirate ship too, but that was the ship from the red Shanks.
The pirates who wanted to rob the village noticed the other ship and also that it was a pirate ship. The captain of the robber pirates ordered his men to surround the villagers and the other pirates. The men did as ordered and surrounded the pirates and villagers. Only Luffy was overlooked. He didn't know what was going on in the village and walked through the village as normal. The robber captain discovered him and before Luffy could run away he was caught by him and taken hostage. Up until then the pirate band had put up with everything from the red Shanks, but now the robber captain had gone too far. "Let go of the boy," Shanks called in a loud but still calm voice. “Why should I?” “Because real pirates wouldn't take hostages.” “What are you telling me?” Shanks looked the captain straight in the eye and said: “That's easy. You're not a real pirate. You're just a coward. "" You dare to call me the famous pirate captain Schwin a coward? "" Yes, apparently. But I wouldn't say that you are famous. "While he spoke he slowly walked towards Schwin . "Do you know what is famous?" "Y ... YES of course I know. And if you get a step closer I will kill the boy.", Schwin said rather restlessly and took a knife out of his pocket. Shanks stopped so as not to endanger Luffy. "So you mean that you know what is famous? Then you should know who I am." "You're a weirdo.", Laughed Schwin out loud. "Wrong answer.", Shanks said, still rather calmly. While Shanks was hanging out on Schwin, Ben, Shanks' vice-president, snuck behind Schwin.The rest of Shank's gang took down the Schwin pirates. At that very moment Shanks went a step further. Schwin's knife went even closer to Luffy's neck. "I said you should let go of the boy.", His voice sounded more threatening now than before. His head was bowed and he was holding onto his straw hat. "You mean I take you seriously if you speak a little more threateningly and look at the floor?" "No, I just didn't want you to piss your pants when I look at you now." With these words he lifted his head slightly and continued: "And now put the knife away, otherwise I'll have to hurt you." When he had finished speaking, he let one eye flash out from under his straw hat and the robber captain stopped dead. Ben, who is still in the robbery, took the opportunity to take the knife away from him and knock the handle of Schwin unconscious. With that, Luffy was saved and he had a hero. Shanks turned to the rest of the band of robbers and just said, "Take your captain and get out of here." And they did. Within a minute they had their captain aboard and set sail. When the ship was out of sight, Shanks turned to Luffy, who was being held by Makino. “Are you okay?” His voice sounded nice and no longer threatening and his grin was very charming. "I want to thank you for saving Luffy's life.", Makino said loudly enough for Shanks to hear her. "Are you his mother?" "What? Uh ... no. I only have the responsibility for him until his grandfather is back." "Oh yes." And so he turned away and went to his men. When he got to them he said something to them and everyone cheered. But then the men fell silent and looked at their captain questioningly. He in turn went to Makino and asked: "Is there a good bar here somewhere?" "Yes there is. The pirate meeting bar in Makino is by far the best bar in the whole windmill village.", Luffy answered for Makino. "How does a little boy like you know where there is good beer?" "I know that from my grandfather. He always has a drink at Makino. The juice there is great too." "Luffy make sure you don't annoy him. ", Makino whispered in Luffy's ear. But when Luffy was able to answer, Shanks started laughing out loud. He laughed like there was no tomorrow. It just came from the heart. "Why are you laughing like that? It's not funny.", Luffy started to poke. "Oh, it doesn't matter. Tell me where the bar is.", He laughed in response. While Shanks was laughing he stumbled and fell backwards and Ben had to catch him. "What's he got?" Makino asked worriedly. "It's not that bad, he just has a lack of alcohol. We haven't had a beer on the ship for almost five days and if he doesn't get enough alcohol he just kills him.", Ben explained." We'll bring Dan to my bar. "
After Shanks had had a few beers, he was perky and slightly drunk again. Since it was already late, Makino sent Luffy to bed and she made sure that the pirates leave the bar.

Within four days, Luffy had befriended the entire gang and got the dream of becoming a pirate too. "Hey Luffy, have you ever heard the legend of the pirate king?" Asked Shanks who was having his second beer. "The story is boring. I prefer to tell him about my son who I left because I had to become a pirate. I had to because my heart told me.", Yasopp began. "I already know the story inside out.", Luffy began to complain, but Yasopp never heard that. He went on talking aloud, but no one was listening. It went like this every day and Luffy was already used to it. "Please tell me the legend of the Pirate King, Shanks." Luffy asked. "All right. Listen well," Shanks began. "There was once a man named Gold Roger who was executed 3 years ago. This pirate had everything. Wealth, power and fame, he was the king of the pirates. Gold Roger was the only person in history to have reached the last island of the Grand Line It is said that he hid the greatest treasure in the world there. But Gold Roger was captured by the Navy. He was publicly executed in the town of Loguetown. "The entire bar had become stylish and everyone was listening to Shanks. "When he was executed he said:" You want my treasure? Then look for him.
