Tears of a Dragon

Stroke of Fate

She woke up again, the pain she felt at that time was terrible, but even 10 years passed she did not forget what had happened. She struggled to her feet and tried to leave the terrible night behind. The bright light of the rising sun shone in and illuminated the room. It was an old, rundown room, with cracks in the walls, cobwebs in the corners and smashed pieces of furniture strewn across the floor.

She looked around the room and gathered her clothes. She hated the morning because she never really got going, even when she knew she had to.
She left the room and came directly outside through a narrow corridor.
The sun was already at its highest point and let the golden sand of the desert shine in all its beauty. She held her hand over her eyes, as she was blinded by the sun, and looked around. She stood in front of a ruined wall in the middle of nowhere. There was no life to be seen far and wide. The walls brittle, the roof made of rotten wood that was covered by the golden sand. A few meters in front of it, the Nile, the water of which reflected the rising sun.

She went to the bank, knelt and looked at her reflection in the water. She closed her eyes and sank back into memories, every single picture of that night had burned into her mind. She clearly remembered the terrible sight of the ruins that were once a lively village. She also remembered walking through the former alleys, the burned down houses, the lifeless bodies of residents and friends and even the feeling that came over her at that moment. The feeling of loneliness.

She buried the bodies of the innocent victims in the sand not far from the scene of the accident, including those of their parents. The hatred overcame her, the hatred of those who had created this scenario, it was the first time that she felt this breathtaking feeling, it overcame her more and more often and seemed to get stronger. But it was a feeling that she couldn't describe. She hadn't found her brother's body, she didn't know what happened when he sent her away, whether he should have survived or not, but she vowed revenge.

When she opened her eyes again she looked into her likeness.
After the incident she looked for everything that was spared from the fire and was usable together and left the village. When she ran back to the sand dunes, she turned around one last time, reminisced and left, but something shiny in the sand that blinded her made her pause. A golden coat of arms in the middle of the desert. She knew that it could only be from these dark figures. But this coat of arms was more than a shiny treasure and a reminder of the deed that once happened here, it was the coat of arms of the royal family in the distant kingdom. Her eyes darkened suddenly, the glow of her eyes disappeared, a dark emptiness spread inside her. With the coat of arms firmly in her hand, she ran away as fast as she could without turning back. She decided to take revenge, revenge on the person who was responsible for this act and the coat of arms told her where she found this someone ...
