Into the Arm's of the Darkness

In die Arme der Dunkelheit

Part 1

The quiet, almost inaudible rustling of the trees was kind of deafening to me. The thin path I walked along was different from a normal forest path, it looked more like a line overflowing with flowers. As I looked down at myself, I saw rainbow colored pansies gently caressing my feet. Only now did I notice that I was walking barefoot through the forest the whole time. Quite stupid and unusual at this time of year, I thought to myself when it occurred to me that, according to the weather, it was going to be winter. Before I even thought about it, snow was drizzling on my braided red hair. They were extremely large flakes and yet very soft to look at. As they slowly melted onto my skin, it felt more warm than cold. I was so lost in thought that I forgot everything around me and only noticed the details of the strange things that were going on in front of my eyes. A loud crack made me startle. In the subconscious, I turned around with a jerk, so much that my braided pigtail came loose. Now my fiery red hair was blowing in the wind and wrapped around my face. Before I could actually open my eyes, I noticed a warm pressure on my shoulder. Someone put his hand on my shoulder, I just couldn't say who he, she or it was, the fear was too great to open one's eyes and face the truth. "Good afternoon Leila, how long have you been hanging around here by yourself?" I jerked my eyes open from the horror that this person knew my name. In front of me was a man in his mid-twenties in a brown suit. He had big brown eyes and narrow, soft lips. His hair was disheveled and yet it gave off something elegant. "Why so shy? I didn't scare you, Leila .." he breathed into my ear. "Um, no, I .. was .. nn-just .." I started to stutter, ".. surprised that you mm-know my name." "Mh, but why are you stuttering so much, dear? The snow it's really warm. "I slowly began to shiver. Not because of the snow, no, it definitely wasn't, but rather because of the way he spoke to me in his angelic voice. It had something of the goal of most youngsters my age: to try to flatter prey and then mercilessly wrap it around your finger. But this person was different, he wasn't freezing in the snow. "I'm not freezing either," I said lost in thought. "I beg your pardon?" "Um, no - aa-everything is fine." "Then it's all right, it's time for me to go, dear. But don't worry, we'll see you again soon. I'll be with you day and night. "He kissed my forehead, picked up a strand of my hair and put it over my shoulder. I turned to ask who he was, how did he know my name, but it was gone. The only thing that made them noticeable was the gentle breath of the wind that made the snowflakes whirl around me.
