Fanfic: Die letzte Abikime
Chapter: Past, present or future?
It was a beautiful morning that was to usher in a special day. At sunrise the sun came into my room and tickled my nose, which slowly woke me up. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and sat up in my small bed. I knew that today was a special day for me, but I still felt the need to stay in bed, cuddle up in my blanket one more time and go back to sleep.
But I was able to discard these thoughts a little later, because my six-year-old brother entered the room and came up to me grinning. "Aaaaa all the best!" He called and lifted me out of bed.
"Takumi ~" I exclaimed enthusiastically as he lifted me into the air and spun in a circle so that I flew through the air. He knew how much I loved this and was therefore not surprised that I was suddenly wide awake and squeaked happily until he finally let me down again and carried me on his arm.
"I'm supposed to get you for breakfast.", My brother explained and carried me into the kitchen, where our parents were already waiting.
"Sweetie, there you are." My mother greeted me with a loving smile and took me from my brother. She kissed me gently on the forehead and sat me in my seat.
“All the best from me, too.” The Abikime clan head came up to me and kissed my hair affectionately as well. But when he noticed that that wasn't enough for him, he fell profusely around my neck and cuddled me lovingly.
"P-papa ..." I gasped. "I can't breathe anymore.", I explained breathlessly and mother put a hand on his shoulder so that he let go of me. I didn't understand why he suddenly hugged me so exuberantly, because even if it was my birthday today, this was anything but normal. My father in particular had always been very serious, which was probably due to the responsibility that he carried around with him. And even if he had played with us, he had never been so exuberant that it was a little sudden. But at that moment I was far too young and excited to worry about it any more.
In front of me there was a big birthday cake with three small candles on it that were just waiting to be blown by me. In addition, I had already seen the table with my gifts, which was in the corner of the kitchen, and had to admit that there were astonishingly many gifts that were just waiting to be finally taken out of their packaging by me. Like every child, I always looked forward to the presents the most ...
"You have to blow out the candles and make a wish." Said my mother, who had kneeled next to me.
"Yeah!" I exclaimed enthusiastically and closed my eyes. I knew exactly what I would want: a whole day just with my family. No commitments, no meetings, no school or work.Just the four of us alone! And with this wish in mind, I opened my eyes and blew out the three candles that were on the cake.
"You mustn't tell us your wish, otherwise it won't come true!" Takumi warned me and I looked at him a little sadly.
"But..."
"Don't worry, your wish will come true sooner or later. I promise you that.", My brother wanted to calm me down again and looked at me with a smile.
"Okay ..." I mumbled and looked at the piece of cake my mother had just put on my plate. In the meantime she had started to cut the cake into small pieces and now distributed it on four plates.
"Takumi, remember that you have to go to school soon. And please give your Sensei the letter I gave you." Then my mother looked at my father and nodded. They had something planned or something, I could sense that ...
"Yes, yes ...", my brother said and began to eat his cake. My father started to eat too, and my mother sank into the chair next to me to have breakfast too.
"After breakfast you can open your presents. I hope it's what you wanted it to be."
"Yes, there is something!", My brother interfered and grinned broadly.
"Takumi!", My father hissed and also grinned a little. "By the way, you have to go."
My mother, who had just finished her piece of cake, got up from her seat and got a bento that she had made for my brother as she did every morning.
"I'll pick you up from school later!" I called to Takumi and saw the happy smile that graced his lips.
"Come on, I'll take you to the door." Mother put a hand on his shoulder and gently pushed him towards the door.
"See you later!" I shouted and the smile that was on my face again passed a few moments later. When my mother opened the door, there was only a loud explosion and the whole hallway was thick with a black mist.
"Papa!" I shouted, scared. "Mom, Takumi! Where are you ?!"
I couldn't see any more and coughed from the smoke I inhaled.
“Kaime, I'm here!” I felt my father's arm around my body and before I knew it, we were outside. Once in the fresh air, I finally saw the faces of my mother and my brother again, to whom nothing particularly bad had happened.
"Mom? Dad?" My father let me down next to my brother and then looked at my mother. "What's going on here?"
"Takumi, take your sister out of here.", My father ordered seriously and I turned into a big black wolf. My mother also changed, but unlike my father, she had reddish brown fur.
And then all of a sudden I noticed all the other ninja. We were surrounded. There were other ninjas from our village everywhere. The people from Kumo-Gakure attacked us. They actually attacked their own people.
“Kaime, stay with me.” My brother took me by the hand and after my parents' first attack, when the opportunity arose for us to escape, he dragged me with him. He pulled me away from the fight, but I wanted to stay with my parents. I saw them being attacked and I wished nothing more than to stop this fight.
"Leave her alone!" I shouted and was startled to see that a few opponents were standing in our way.
“Kaime, stay behind me.” Takumi pushed me behind him and turned into a wolf as well. His fur was brown and he was much more delicate than my parents. In his wolf form, Takumi looked almost like me, but he was a little stronger and more masculine.
I looked around frightened. My parents fought against Kumo-Nins at our home, my brother fought right in front of my eyes, and all around us were other followers of my clan who had to assert themselves against Kumo-Nins.
"Takumi, watch out!" Shouted my mother and she and my father struggled through to us. "Get your sister out of here as soon as you can.", She repeated and threw a Kumo-Nin to the ground.
"Get on, Kaime.", Whispered my brother and knelt in front of the floor. My father picked me up gently and sat me on his back before fending off another attack.
It was a wild back and forth and the tears ran down my cheeks like drops of water down a waterfall. "Hold on tight," my brother mumbled proudly and ran out of the village.
Just before we left the village, I looked back one more time and saw my parents fall to the ground in the flames of our existence. She and everyone else in my clan had died.
"NO!" Shouted the young wolf girl and startled from her dream bathed in sweat.
She sat upright in her bed and gasped for breath. Tears stood in her eyes and the memory of her past alone made her whole body tremble.
"It was just a dream," she muttered over and over, trying to calm herself down. It was really just a dream. A dream that should remind her of her past. The extinction of their clan.
She was born in Kumo-Gakure and lived there until her third birthday. But that day the village attacked her clan and killed everyone except her and her brother. The village had been afraid of the Abikime because there were wolf genes in their DNA that gave them special abilities. For example, they had the opportunity to transform themselves into a wolf and also had their keen senses in their human form. Half of the followers of the Abikime clan were wolves and therefore very powerful. But that was also the reason why they should be killed. Kumo-Gakure was afraid of them.
//It was just a dream. The reality was almost 15 years ago ... //, she thought and climbed out of bed to freshen up in the bathroom.
