Chapter 3: Mixed Feelings
The next morning, Shinoah woke up with her head on Ace's shoulder. If Ace wasn't still asleep, and putting his arms around her and holding her tight, Shinoah would have jumped up. 'What am I doing here?' she thought, shocked. 'You are lying arm in arm with someone!' finally her conscience spoke up. She couldn't. She wasn't allowed to! Carefully she tried to free herself from Ace's grip without waking him. 'Why am I so careful? I could just kill him. ' she thought to herself, and was mad at herself. But something she never thought possible prevented her from doing so. When she finally freed herself from his grip, she stroked his arm again and then ran away.
How could she feel anything? There was something new. A warm feeling that filled her body. 'But I can't feel anything. That's impossible. I've never felt anything. 'Lost in thought she ran through the forest.
And again the pain spread inside her. Again and again he came back unexpectedly, ate away at her soul and chased away the good, warm feelings of just now. Only the pain remained. The cold enveloped her, like a hard shell the coconut enveloped her in the cold. Tears ran down her face and she wept silently to herself.
When Ace woke up he was alone. Shinoah was gone. "Damn it!" he muttered. A small cancer had just pinched his toe. "Get out of here!" he hissed and hurled the little crab towards the sea. But there was another damn reason as well. Shinoah was gone. 'Did I do something wrong?' Ace wondered, looking around. No, Shinoah was nowhere to be seen. Apparently she hadn't left him a message or given any clue as to her whereabouts. "Why is she gone?" he asked himself. He was a little desperate. He couldn't do anything with that. 'Why do girls always have to be so complicated?' he thought to himself, took his hat and got up. 'Now I need something to eat first! 'As a confirmation, his stomach answered with a loud growl.
Shinoah stood in front of the door of a small wooden hut in the middle of the forest. She opened it quietly and entered the room, hoping Jaiko (please pronounce / read / think Ja-iko; D) would not notice her. Just as she was about to open the door to her small room, the rough voice of the man behind her rang out: "Hello Shinoah." Shinoah winced. "Nana, you are probably not afraid of me. After all, I raised you after your parents abandoned you Heartless!" He told Shinoah this story every time. But somehow she couldn't quite believe him.
