Fanfic: The Reality

Chapter: But ...

[I]A dry feeling wet my lips and sealed them as tight as a spell.
A short scream, manly and exhausted. Then only a grueling crack and the oh-so-pleading voice was nothing.
I tried to open my eyes in the midst of it, but it just didn't work. Was i dead

A little confused, I fingered my clothes, looking for the protective supporter who should drive away all evil. Just like everything else, it was no longer there and the only thing I still felt was a warm gust of wind that seemed to rock my body slightly in this coldness of nothing. "Don't you want to exchange your powers again, Jessica-Beatrice?"

Impatient steps trotted beside Jessica's head. Several voices scurried through the room and it was not a pleasant event to be taken from all pitches.
Still completely sleepy, Jessica only now noticed her situation: What was so hard and somehow also quite cold under her body turned out to be the classroom floor.
"You have your nerves to sleep on the floor ... drooling in your sleep, dude ...", grumbled a classmate hatefully in the turmoil and received a slap in the rib from his neighbor.
Fortunately, Jessica was not ready yet. Her legs felt like jelly and shook identically as she tried to get up.
// That something like this always has to happen to me ... //
Just as the girl threatened to lose her footing again, she grabbed a velvety hand on her arm.
It was canon, no question about it.
His eyes flashed, as emotionless and cold as ever. Jessica hung her head a little sadly and withdrew from the curious pairs of eyes of her schoolmates.
"Come on, my lady. Let's go."

A fresh scent of chamomile rose in the air.
Kanon, as he always did in the mansion, brewed one of Jessica's favorite teas.
The young man bent carefully down to the blonde and brought the rim of the cup to her narrow lips.
Her eyes wide, she studied him first and then finally sipped.
"Are you feeling better, my lady?"
The bed sagged under the weight of Kanon. Instead of an answer, however, he received a long pout. And before he knew it, Jessica grabbed his front strands, which in the end could only be classified as tender violence.
"I told you to just call me Jessica!"
A kind of minute's silence entered the room while both stared into each other's eyes.
Jessica looked grumpy and nervously stroked the structure of his black hair at the same time, while Kanon replied extremely neutrally.
Where did this melted-down behavior from yesterday go? And that before school?
Sighing, her hands plopped onto the blanket of the sickbed where Kanon had led them.
Since they were here for the first few hours, Kanon has acted so ... differently.Or more like always.

It all started well and then ... then everything was dark. In the middle of class, while Kanon tried to submit to the history class like a good student.
Only a voice that Jessica could remember had spoken to her and opened her eyes again, so to speak. You couldn't classify it as normal sleep, both of them were probably aware of that.
"Kanon!", It suddenly sounded from her part. The called one had long since turned away to bring the teapot back to the sister, but he gave himself the leisure to turn around again. A cheeky grin greeted him.
"Let me finish the tea quickly and then we'll move on, okay ?!"

No, Jessica wasn't wrong. Canon had indeed changed. And she noticed that not only in the way he formally tried to pull the jacket over her with his delicate hands, but also in his apparent absence.
Out of the hospital room, they immediately took the path to the cafeteria.
All sorts of facial expressions were thrown at Kanon who seemed to wander the hallways like a ghost. His face had the pallor of the freshly fallen snow and showed no remorse when he accidentally bumped into a stranger.
With a slight giggle, Jessica watched as his red-colored cap slipped to the ground and he was much too confused with the situation and above all with the decision to pick up the cap or to apologize.
Kanon stammered helplessly at Jessica, who was already bending down.
But the next moment pretty much relieved Kanon, because an all-too-familiar face protruded into his own.
"Yo!"
Kanon blinked at Battler, puzzled and mumbled something unintelligible. Visibly happily, Kanon gripped his hat as soon as his fingertips literally dug into the fabric.
"What are you doing here?", Jessica hissed at her cousin, not exactly enthusiastic, and crossed her arms in disgust.
"My girlfriend has a class here," Battler began, beaming. "She gives some odds and ends as an extra course ... forgot the name, but very interesting!"
Yes, that was Battler as he lived and lived. The moment in which Jessica's bust Battler's eyes attracted like two magnets made this clear. The looseness that Canon simply didn't have.
But even the black-haired gawk had not escaped Battler's gaze. First was the servant of the assumption that the Ushiromiya needed help or had a desire to judge by his gaze.
But when he followed this look more closely, his hair stood up as if electrified and made his cheeks flush so much that he could have rivaled a tomato.
He didn't look away either ...
