It's been a while since it snowed in Konoha. At that time, Naruto Uzumaki was in the middle of training, which was about getting a better grip on his trusted ghosts, Gamakichi and Gamatatsu.
But Naruto didn't want to see the point of training in that. He said he should befriend them rather than "tame" them.
His two toads, which had previously amazed him because they had grown immensely in size and weight since they last met, didn't think much of training. But Naruto made no excuses, and so there were always arguments in which Naruto went almost insane in the end.

Jiraiya started to laugh and finally turned to his student to help him: "But Naruto ... It doesn't work that way. You have to be kind to them. Come on, stop the arguments, after all, it will be Christmas soon , the contemplative time. That doesn't go with it. "
Naruto could not spare himself his comment, and said: "Pah, what if I did! That means I would have to put up with everything just because Christmas is coming soon? This festival only serves to encourage people to buy. "
Jiraiya was quite surprised to hear something like that from Naruto. "Now listen, Naruto ..." he started, but he left it at that because he didn't have the words.
Gamatatsu complained that the snow was freezing to his feet and that he was cold too, not to mention hunger.
Gamakichi said to Naruto, "Hey, nine times wise! What now? Do you want to train with us or not?"
But Naruto turned his back on both of them and also tried to avoid eye contact with Jiraiya. Then Gamakichi said goodbye with a "Well, if that's the case ..." and went up in smoke.
Jiraiya looked at Naruto skeptically and wondered what his student might have. Naruto tied his coat, which he had gotten from Jiraiya, and which looked like the coat from Yondaime, even tighter, because he was slowly getting cold too.
Gamatatsu sat shivering and waited faithfully and patiently for Naruto or Jiraiya to speak to him, but secretly he wanted something to eat from them.
Jiraiya let out a loud sigh and went to Naruto. "All right, Naruto. We're finishing training for today."
Naruto didn't answer and walked back towards Konoha in silence, always being careful not to step into snow that was too deep. Jiraiya looked after him with concern and then directed Ganatatsu to go home as well.

The moon stood shining brightly in the night sky. The center of the village was lit with lights and all sorts of advertisements, and the jostling people could not be ignored.
Even before Naruto went to his apartment, he made a detour to Ichiraku's noodle house. There he met Sakura, who was just about to buy some noodle vouchers.When she saw him, she greeted him: "Hello, Naruto. You are always here with Ichiraku."
Naruto sat down and took off his gloves. "Yes, it could be.", Was his answer. He looked at the vouchers: "Tell me, what do you need them for?"
Sakura was confused for a moment, until she understood: "Oh ... These are for my family, ... as a present!"
Naruto forced a smile on his face: "Oh ... for your-"
At that moment Jiraiya entered the snack bar and greeted everyone: "Hello everyone! How's it going?"
Sakura stood up: "Good evening, master."
Jiraiya looked at her and had to smile: "Sakura. You don't have to get up. There is enough space." Actually, he stared at her winter jacket, which Tsunade used to wear.
"She must have given them to her ...", he thought to himself, and her many hair clips, which she had put in her hair to try out a new hairstyle, were also pretty pretty.
Sakura said goodbye and glanced at Naruto just before she left.
"Hopefully his bad mood will go away soon," she thought to herself.

Now Naruto and Jiraiya sat next to each other, both sipping their soup. Jiraiya talked like a waterfall and occasionally laughed at his own, mostly incomprehensible jokes. Naruto, however, remained calm and occasionally complained that Jiraiya was too loud.
At some point it was enough for Jiraiya and he addressed Naruto specifically: "What is it, Naruto?"
Naruto stopped eating and started playing with his chopsticks instead. "What should be. The two monster toads annoyed me.", Was his answer.
Jiraiya was disappointed not hearing the truth from his student and for a brief moment wondered what he could have done wrong.
He got up, paid his and Naruto's portion and patted Naruto on the shoulder: "Well, if you remember, you can tell me at any time."
Naruto contradicted: "It's nothing. What is supposed to be great?"
Jiraiya left with a "yes, yes, all right" as a farewell and met Sakura and Hinata in front of the store.
"Sensei, do you have some time? We need to talk to you."
Jiraiya replied with an unusual seriousness: "Yes, of course."
The two of them led him away from Ichiraku's takeout and Sakura began to report, "Well, I've noticed that Naruto has been getting in a bad mood lately. I think it has something to do with ... well, that he doesn't have a family like everyone else with whom he could celebrate ... "
Jiraiya made a sound of amazement: "Aha ... that's a good guess. That might actually be true, Sakura."
Sakura nodded and continued: "Well, and that's why Hinata comes into play now ..." Hinata smiled at him: "Yes, Sensei ... I have, um, made up something ... If you want ..."
Jiraiya and the two girls moved closer together.Jiraiya was curious: "Well, tell me ... what are you going to do?"

Naruto decided to leave after sitting and doing nothing for a while. He was leaving the diner and was about to go home when someone approached him.
To his astonishment it was Hinata.
"What a coincidence. What are you doing here so late?"
Hinata was so nervous that she started stuttering again: "Um ... don't we want to ... together, uh, I mean ... me and you ... go shopping for gifts, or something?"
Naruto thought for a moment, and then he said, "Well, why not."
Hinata was overjoyed. The two were walking down the commercial street, and Naruto kept getting compliments about his coat.
For Hinata, this shopping spree was much better than Christmas and her birthday put together. She enjoyed every second, and although she said almost nothing to him because she didn't dare, it was never uncomfortable because there was always something going on around her.
Naruto laughed every now and then, and once he had lost sight of Hinata, and when he called her name out loud and she heard his voice, her heart almost stopped for a moment and she almost fell over.
After Hinata bought some, she suggested that Naruto accompany him home.
"But hey, Hinata. Actually, I have to accompany you home ..." he said.
"No, no, it's okay. I really want to!"

Since he didn't want to refuse her this wish, he let her come with him to his apartment.
When the two stood in front of the front door and Naruto put the key in the keyhole, the door opened by itself.
Naruto got restless and reached for the door handle: "Oh no, I locked it ... Was there a break-in?" He turned to Hinata: "You stay here and I'll go in. Maybe ... the thief is still inside. This is dangerous, Hinata! "
Hinata smiled, "But Naruto ... it's ... um ... it ..."
Naruto ignored her attempt to say something and threw the door wide open: "Let's go!"

Suddenly the light went on and Naruto's expression changed suddenly.
All his friends were gathered in front of him and there were many wrapped packages on the table.
Naruto opened his eyes wide in amazement: "What ... what are you all doing here?"
Sakura smiled: "Can you not see that? This is our Christmas surprise for you."
Hinata now entered the apartment and put her purchases on the table: "You already know what's inside, but at least ... I can be sure that it suits your taste ... Naruto."
Naruto looked at everyone who had come: Sakura, Sai, Sensei Kakashi, Ino, Choji, Shikamaru, Kiba and Akamaru, Shino, Hinata, Sensei Iruka, Jiraiya and Yamato. And even Gamakichi and Gamatatsu were there, only Gamatatsu was in the kitchen to eat at that moment.
Naruto was greeted by everyone and was the focus of the action.After a while of laughing and telling jokes he asked: "But why ... Why did-" Sakura interrupted him: "Man, that was obvious."
Naruto said: "What?"
Jiraiya interfered: "Well, you suffered a lot because you didn't have a family to celebrate with you. And that's why we're here today. We're your family today!"
After a short pause, Naruto replied: "But it's not Christmas yet!"
Sakura handed him a present: "So what? We're celebrating at your place now, and for Christmas everyone is celebrating at home."
Naruto lowered his head slightly: "Oh ..."
Sakura patted him on the shoulder: "But don't worry. You won't be alone at Christmas either. I invite you and Sai to my place!"
Naruto's face lit up. Everyone partied vigorously that evening, sang karaoke and played fun games together.
Naruto was never in a bad mood during the Christmas season from then on, because he knew very well that he was not alone because he had friends. Friends for life!
