Chapter 2 - A day without embarrassment? Impossible!

Jelana had dearly hoped that the embarrassing thing in religious education had grown weed, but somehow she had run out of luck.
For the rest of yesterday she was allowed to hear how trippy she was and that something like that can only come from one of the Domino South.
And so it went on her second day of school where it left off on the first.
"Simply ignore!" Tea tried to calm her down again and again and soon Jelana gave in to her fate.
"Better think about how we can get to the stadium - we will certainly not ask dear Mr. Kaiba again."
We. Did Sayu say 'we'?
"Well, I certainly won't ask him anymore, but you could ..." Jelana paused. Once again, Sayu's looks said more than a thousand words.
"Ok ok. I got it ... I'll come up with something." she sighed.
When she was on the way to the cafeteria during the long break, she was still thinking hard when she suddenly felt a dull pain in her head - she had run into someone.
When she was about to apologize, she saw that it was Joey and that he didn't seem to care. Something on the bulletin board in front of him was apparently much more interesting. She grabbed his right arm and pulled him a little to the side to see something too. Carefully he pushed it in front of him when he saw it.
"The afternoon classes," he said curtly.
She had heard of it. There had been no such thing at their old school, but Domino High had classes that took place in the afternoon - each student had to attend at least one class and, as you could see from the yellowish note on the wall, they had to make up their minds soon.
She quickly scanned the notes. It was all there: all kinds of ball sports, sewing and handicraft courses and even canoeing.
"Do you already know which one you take?" she asked Joey after a while. He shook his head slowly.
"I have no idea." he muttered. "And you?"
Jelana was absolutely thrilled, he only noticed that now.
"Well, I have two that appeal to me ... one is on Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays!" she said excitedly. "I used to be in an acting class, but unfortunately it broke up - I can continue here. Dressing up, putting on make-up, being someone else - just great." You know, I want to be a journalist one day! "
She beamed all over her face.
"Two courses? Are you doing the stress yourself?" someone asked. She didn't know who, but she didn't care either. She nodded eagerly and immediately entered her name. In a pinch, she could still leave one of the courses if it got too much for her.
"What kind of course are you taking Joey?", Jelana asked interested when suddenly a voice rang out.A voice that Jelana knew well enough by now to be able to classify her.
"Wow, not that one again!" it slipped out of her. Of course, 'Mister Cool' skilfully skipped that. When Jelana turned to him annoyed, she noticed that all the girls around her were lusting for him. Were they stupid? What did they like about this snob?
She felt Joey tense up angrily next to her. He looked like he was about to jump on Kaiba's neck. But after a few unfriendly words it just passed them by.
"You shouldn't be so upset all the time! That wrinkles." said Jelana and then she grinned broadly at the cramped blond next to her. He looked at her angrily, but then had to grin too.
So what. There are still people who don't hit you right away. Apparently he just had a problem with Kaiba and wasn't fundamentally aggressive or anything.
Together, the group set off to class - biology was on the schedule.
Actually, she had always liked biology, but that changed suddenly, too. You should dissect frogs. Was such cruelty even allowed?
Just the thought made Jelana shudder. In the back rows you could hear things like: "Wow, that's awesome. I'll slit it open - like with Saw."
She just shook her head. That was disgusting. When she turned around, she realized that they were two boys from her old school - great ... they represented her school wonderfully.
She was sitting next to Joey and when their eyes met accidentally, she wrinkled her nose.
"I do not want to do that." she muttered.
Before the person sitting next to them could answer anything, one heard a loud splash, which, as it turned out afterwards, came from the frog that her biology teacher had just slammed onto her table with full force. She flinched in shock - was the guy tired of life?
"In my lessons I expect absolute discipline. That means - there is no talk as long as I do not allow it and, above all, the work I ask you to do is done! Since you obviously do not want to do this task, you can start right away and do it." Course show how it works. The textbook on page 53 says how exactly they do it! " Jelana was killed.
Oh man. Why hadn't anyone warned her before someone let loose on her?
She was quite perplexed and only when Joey hesitantly held the scalpel under her nose did she react.
Jelana would gladly have complied with the teacher's request, but with the best of intentions she couldn't.
"So that's what we are. Refusal to work. That will certainly be of great interest to your class teacher!"
"Now you listen to them, they can do that .." Joey, who to Jelana's amazement tried to defend her, earned not only a good lecture, but also looks that would probably have brought a Mr. Cool Kaiba to his knees - although she wasn't so sure.Since Jelana was still standing in the same spot, pale and without any reaction, the teacher snatched the scalpel from her hand and began to cut around the frog.
Anyone who would have noticed that Jelana had turned even pale.
She felt that she was getting damn sick. That sound. That muddy sound as the teacher pulled the blade out of the animal.
"Oh my god" she mumbled and before she knew it she had grabbed the wastebasket and vomited.
The teacher said something when she finished and wiped her mouth with a handkerchief, but she blocked it out. It was embarrassing enough what had just happened, she didn't want to talk about it too.
"Sorry." she muttered. Her head was red and she was so embarrassed that she stormed out of the room.
After she had spent the rest of the bio lesson in the girls' toilet and would have loved to sink into the ground, she still did not dare to go out after the bell.
At least Bio had been the last hour. So she could wait a little longer, then everyone would have disappeared from her biology course and she too could make her way home without having to endure any comments.
Of course, fate wanted it different again.
A quarter of an hour after the bell, she left the girls' bathroom and went across the school yard - how she hated this school.
Furious, she kicked a stone that flew quite far. Her eyes followed the stone and before she could say anything, the stone hit someone on the tibia.
"Sorry," she called again. Oh man, how many times had she apologized since she was at this school?
The victim, who had just bent down to a little boy, stood up in front of her. "Well, it was clear that it had to come from you." she was angeranzt. Couldn't anyone talk to her properly here?
When she recognized who was standing there in front of her, the astonishment disappeared. Of course, a Kaiba-san couldn't.
"Well, that was my revenge for your malicious grin in religion class yesterday." just gave it back.
This time she hadn't made the mistake of looking him in the eye and now passed him without another word.
"Your revenge? You have to work a little bit more .." he started but Jelana faded him out.
He was the kind of person she should stay away from. It was better. He made her angry. When she was angry, she did things that she later regretted. So no good dealings with this guy!
