"Bad girls always have it easier"
I was such an idiot. That's when I saw her run down the hall and disappear through the door at the other end. I shouldn't have been so direct. Now here I was sitting in the empty hallway, in an abandoned school, wondering about a mortal woman who was definitely none of my business.
My teacher had always told me to have as little association with mortals as possible. And now I fell headlong into something I couldn't yet grasp. It just couldn't go well between us.
But first I should introduce myself. I am Ciro Caspaire, a demon. Well, let's say, in training. I should pass my final test to finally be seen as a real adult demon. I had to trick a person and kidnap him into my world. And yes, you guessed it, not just any human. Not Cloudia, too, would be a shame. No, I should kidnap your ex-boyfriend. Not in the dull way, of course, just grab it and go. No, but with cunning and trickery, just in the old valued demon way.
I slowly made my way home, my house on earth. I missed hell, my humble room in my master's room. The earth was just too strange for me, too confusing, too, different.
I thought about getting to her ex through Cloudia. But now I had my concerns, something that was never good on a mission. I also had to learn this lesson painfully, you couldn't show any remorse or compassion, otherwise it would cost someone else's life.
People were so hard to understand. Cloudia broke up with her boyfriend, and yet she was lovesick. I couldn't understand anything like that. Maybe because it was impossible for demons to love, at least I had never heard of anything like it. Physical, fun or reproductive relationships, yes, but love?
I arrived at my house and carelessly threw my clothes somewhere in the hallway. My two roommates, my "brothers" would get upset about it again, but I didn't want to worry about that at the moment. How should I go about getting at this guy? He wasn't exactly the sunny boy type who liked to gather people around him. He was more of the "I-won't-let-anyone-touch-me" sort. Why Cloudia had just taken that was absolutely incomprehensible. But maybe the key to my success.
The best thing to do is keep playing the helpful, nice guy and she would pour out her heart to me. So I could almost certainly spot his Achilles heel. I just had to convince my two guards to leave me alone a little more in the future, and not just when they had to go to a demon session. Both Cliff and Ralf, I found their names extremely strange for demons, were members of the Demon Council. Pretty much every species had a council, which in turn provided the members for the Cyrcle. The cycle was the union of all species in order to maintain the equilibrium of the cosmos. Only the people had not had any members for over 2000 years. The reason was simple: Jesus.
As I was thinking about it, I suddenly found a much easier way to get important information about my victim, the files.
Every living being got a file in the temple of being, in it everything was recorded, what one thought and felt, what one did, whom one loved, simply everything, even after death the file was still filled. Creatures like us, with an unlimited lifespan if we weren't killed, filled entire filing cabinets. My own file was puny by comparison. There was a real competition among the demons to see who could fill theirs faster.
It was just stupid to get the files I had to go to the Temple of Knowledge, I thought it was stupid to name pretty much everything after its function. The temple was in Vlares, the capital in Hell. Finally I would get some warmth again, the cold here on earth was unbearable.
So I went back to the disco. The good thing about this place was that, more than anywhere else, demons were coming and going. A permanent gate had been set up for this purpose and I wanted to go to this gate because it was the easiest and fastest way to get to hell. I would also be in my destination city in a moment. I was just dreading all the paperwork.
I drove my Volvo downtown and parked it properly in a multi-storey car park, the rest of the way on foot. From the outside the disco was an inconspicuous building with no windows. But inside it was the hippest, most stylish place far and wide.
Since so many creatures frequented this area, the shop was open around the clock, which is why the gate remained passable at all times.
I walked quickly to the entrance, waved to Fred, the doorman, and went inside. Hard beats immediately enveloped me and I looked into the subdued room. At this time of day only a few people celebrated, mostly Irish goblins, who liked to have one or more on the bar counter and danced on it. In one of the back corners I saw two elves talking animatedly about something. But I didn't care much. I quickly went to the raised area of the disco. This was the V.I.P area. You could stay here with enough plasticine, even if you were not a demon, but nobody came into the area behind it, it was exclusively for demons and an exception was never made, even all the money in the world was not enough. It would be even better if every fool who ran along could spy on demon secrets.Without much ado, the two bouncers let me into the V.I.P area and the room behind it. This room was just furnished with various seating options and a few tables. Since there was no rush hour at that moment, I could easily go to the elevator at the end of the room. I pressed the down button and waited.
The elevator came quickly and I got in. For someone who was using the elevator for the first time, the many buttons were irritating. I pressed the bottom button labeled "Hell" and the elevator slowly began to move. On the way down I passed different worlds, because there were not only worlds that existed parallel to each other, but also some that were on top of each other.
Since there was practically no operation at that time, the elevator went straight to hell without stopping. When I was finally able to get out of the car after a while, the feeling of being back at home overcame me. I was not born and did not live in the capital of hell, but hell was hell.
Comfortable warmth enveloped me and I now looked more relaxed and relaxed about my project. Getting hold of a lousy file couldn't get that bad. So I marched straight to the capital. The houses were decorated in dark reds, black, and gold. Most of the houses were made of black lava stone and decorated with red and gold spiral patterns. Many of the doors and their frames were gold-plated, so happiness should always find its way into the house.
The demons were also dressed in dark clothes, only those who had just come from other worlds and had not yet had time to change wore colored or light-colored clothes. You could change your shape and thus your clothes quickly, provided you knew how, but sometimes there were more important things to do and then you like to forget your appearance. The reason I liked Hell so much was that you could walk around here in your normal shape, if you tried that in another world, most of the time people would start screaming, which was no wonder, because we demons were famous and notorious for our cunning and deceit.
Although I wore dark clothes, I still stood out from the crowd. My wings weren't black, like the others, but white like the snow and that bothered me, a lot. My master just didn't want to tell me what the reason was, he just said I should find out for myself.
So I moved towards the city center where the Temple of Wisdom was located. The building was a silvery hemisphere that towered over most of the buildings, only the palace nearby was taller. The temple's double doors were wide open to welcome everyone.
When I arrived in the entrance hall, I noticed the long reception desk in the middle of the entrance hall.A sullen-looking woman sat behind it, sorting papers.
She paid me no heed, so I cleared my throat to alert her to me. She then glared at me and went on with her work. It couldn't be, so much ignorance. I cleared my throat again. Angrily, she hissed at me if I hadn't read the sign that said she was busy and shouldn't be disturbed. Slightly intimidated, I looked around for someone else who could help me get into the files department.
From the other end of the room, a little demon was smiling mischievously at me. I stared at her in irritation until she finally waved me over. Hesitantly, I went over to her. She had her wings close to her body so that her clothes could not be seen. But I clearly registered that she was barefoot. She had painted her fingernails and toenails black. My inspection didn't seem to bother her in the least, she seemed much more flattered.
All in all she was pretty, a little small maybe, but still very appealing. "You don't seem to know your way around here", it was more of a statement than a question, but I was surprised to find that her voice was not squeaky high, as usual with little ones, but pleasantly deep, yet not too deep for a woman .
"You're right. I'm new here and wanted to go to the records department."
"I can show you that, but you have to do something first."
“What?” I was suspicious, if she offered me her help so readily, there had to be a catch.
"Now don't look like I'm asking you to drink hydrochloric acid. You should first learn not to give in so quickly."
"In other words, I'm supposed to get angry like you."
" Correct."
"Why do you think you have to be angry, that makes everything difficult."
"I'm bad because bad girls always have it easier in life. Your first lesson will be to internalize that you should take everything and not give anything back."
"But you're helping me, so don't you stick to this rule yourself!"
"I help you because it benefits me or do you think I am Mother Teresa and am doing this out of charity?"
