Chapter: Started

His hands cut my breath away. I wasn't afraid but I felt his. He didn't seem strange to me, on the contrary, it was as if we had known each other for ages. Now I felt queasy, at first I hadn't believed that he wanted to kill me, but now I wasn't so sure anymore. I closed my eyes for a moment, then rammed my leg right between his legs. He groaned and took his hands off my neck. Snorting a lot, I fell on my knees. "Shit you bitch!" He managed. Slightly blurred but still recognizable, I studied his face. It was distorted in pain and I was a little ashamed. "Sorry," I mumbled and slowly got to my feet. He looked at me questioningly but I didn't return his gaze. I staggered to the door and when I closed it behind me I could still hear something hit the floor. The night was cool, it was always here, or at least since I was here. I looked at the church tower, it was 10:46 p.m. “Damn it!” I ran through the narrow streets and made my way home. "Mom is going to kill me!" That was my only thought. The lights in our house were on and I recognized a shadow running back and forth in the living room. “Shit!” I stopped running and I was starting to get nervous. My mother could be God's messenger if she wanted to, or the devil himself. I rang the doorbell. The shadow disappeared but nobody opened the door. I stood in front of the door for about 2 minutes and waited, then I rang the bell again. And again, I didn't stop. I stood there for ages, but the door didn't open.

"Aiko! AIKO! Get up at last!" My eyes automatically jumped open. I looked around, I was lying in bed in my room and my mother was standing in front of me. The expression on her face was uncomfortable. "At last! You're still too late, so better hurry up!" I looked at her briefly and turned around. "It was just a dream ... I should have guessed."
She walked out of the room and slammed the door deliberately. Still totally sleepy, I got up and started to get dressed.
Then I grabbed my school bag and went downstairs. My toast was on the table as always, I took it in one hand and the milk glass next to it in the other. As always, the same uninteresting talk came on TV as yesterday. I quickly put the last few bites of toast in my mouth, drained my milk, and put my shoes on. I had bio, chemistry, art and sport today. "Great .." My brother was already gone, only my mother was in the house. I heard that she was in the bathroom. I said goodbye briefly and then went to school. Like every morning, I met my best friend Ace again at the Sakurada Dori *.
"Good morning Aiko!"
"Tomorrow."
"Well, how is my sleeping cat," he poked my nose. I looked away. "Just be quiet!" "First day of university. This is going to be exciting! ", he smiled at me.
"Maybe," I said dryly. It was true, today was our first day at Keio University. But that made little impression on me. "And you? Are you excited?" i looked at him. "Well. I just hope our professors aren't as stupid as they were last year." he laughed, Ace always laughed. That was one of my favorite things about him. He could cheer you up, no matter how depressed you were, I knew that from my own experience.
We had arrived. Ace stopped and picked up an apple that was hanging from a branch near the school wall. "Cool!" He said, "Free breakfast is also available here!"
I laughed and grabbed an apple too. The apples were still green, but that's how I liked them most. Ace put it in his backpack and we headed for the door. The class lists, if you could call it that, were on the door window. I didn't know and I didn't care. I found Ace was on every piece of paper I was on and I relaxed a little. He recognized it too and smiled at me. I grinned at him and pulled on his pocket. "Come on now! Or do you want to be late on the first day?" "No, I'd rather not," he said.
