Nichts von alledem

one & only

Music came softly to her and filled the entrance hall with soft sounds. She had just said goodbye to the last guests she and her husband had invited to their 50th wedding anniversary.
Usually you celebrate it alone, but your children, grandchildren and best friends insisted on celebrating today's special day with them. So they couldn't say no at all.

Again the dark-haired woman has to think about how Haru and Satsuki came to her and talked to her for hours, just so that she would agree. Her husband hadn't been very enthusiastic about it, since he had planned a quiet and romantic day with her, but he had never been able to refuse his children anything, even now that they were both in their mid-forties.

A faint smile crept onto her lips when she thought of her children. They were her everything. She had never let anything come of her children. Her husband also loved them more than anything.

It had been a great party. Satsuki and Haru had outdone themselves. Both of them had suggested hosting the celebration from the start and the Uzumaki just couldn't say no. Her children had ordered a catering service that prepared the best food. They also arranged for a DJ.
But the highlight was definitely the slide show that the two of them had put together with their best friends.

The dark-haired woman slowly walked back into the great hall. It was adorned with many garlands. Occasionally lamps donated some light and immersed the hall in a pleasant atmosphere. Several tables stood together against one wall and threatened to collapse under the weight of all the gifts and flowers. A buffet was set up on the opposite side. There wasn't much left of the good food. A long table was set up in the middle of the large room, on which there were still many empty and half-full glasses.
At the sight the dark-haired woman sighed softly. When she thought that she still had to clean it all up tomorrow, she felt different.
Sakura and Sasuke, as well as Haru and Satsuki, had offered to help her. But she had declined with thanks, since her children had already done so much today, and after all, her friends were guests.

Hinata briefly let her gaze wander through the hall and actually wanted to go upstairs in the direction of the bedroom when she saw her husband standing motionless at the floor-length windows.
“What about you?” At the gentle words, the blond startled briefly and looked at his wife.
A faint smile played on his lips before he answered her; "You know, I never fulfilled your dream of your white house on the lake. I also never rented a convertible to drive you through Hollywood." Sadly, Naruto looked outside for a moment before turning back to her."I see how the years go by. Our children have long been big and have children of their own. And soon we two will even be great-grandparents. This makes me realize that we are both clearly getting old. I wanted a lot, even a lot. But I haven't done any of that. "

The Uzumaki gently pushed away from the door frame, on which she had been leaning all the time, and approached her husband.
When Hinata got to the blonde, she took his hand in hers and looked out the window for a moment. It was already getting dark outside, only a few stars could be seen here and there and the first birds could be heard.
Then she took his champagne glass from his other hand and lifted it slightly.
"I'll drink to you, Naruto," she said with a tender smile. "All of the things you've never done."
The Uzumaki looked at her and wanted to say something, but she silenced him with a wave of the hand.
"Naruto, my darling. You never hurt me. You never left me or our children. You never gave me cause to believe that I am not the only one for you. In all the years since we've been together whether it was good or bad, you did none of the above. "

Naruto knew what she meant.
Their love never had a lucky star. Hinata's father Hiashi had been against it from the start. He always said he wasn't good enough for his daughter. So they had to meet secretly. Only her friends knew about the relationship and often gave both of them an alibi.
But at some point it had become too colorful for him. Naruto had almost stormed into the Hyuuga mansion and once gave Hiashi his opinion. Hinata's father didn't know what was happening to him. But the end of the story was when Hiashi accepted him as his son-in-law. For the simple reason that Naruto stood up for what was important to him. And the head of the family found such ambition impressive.
It hadn't taken long and the two were finally able to get married. And on their wedding day Hinata had given him the best present that he could never have dreamed of. During their first dance together as a married couple, she had whispered in his ear that she was pregnant.
Two years after the birth of their son Haru, Satsuki was born and his luck was perfect.

"Well, how could I have left you or our children? You are everything to me, you know that."
Hinata nods briefly and when she saw that he wanted to say something, she gestured for him to be silent again, because she wasn't finished with her list.
"No matter what we experienced, you were never a stranger to me. You never doubted me or my decisions. Even when we had arguments, you never closed yourself off from me. Just look," said Hinata, pointing to the window pane ."There are lovers in the window mirror. Because you haven't done any of that."

The blonde looked too.
He not only saw himself, but also a dark-haired woman with lilac eyes, with one arm around his waist. Even if it was many years old, it was still beautiful in his eyes. The gray strands that ran through her hair made her eyes stand out even more. Her lilac-colored soul mirrors testified to a wisdom that not many possessed. Despite the many small laugh lines around the eyes and mouth, she was still an attractive woman as he found and did not detract from her beauty.
He just loved this woman. She had been there for him in every situation. And nothing could have separated them.

"You're right my darling. There really is a pair of lovers in the window mirror." Naruto leaned forward and breathed a gentle kiss on her lips. "I love you Hinata Uzumaki."
"I love you too, Naruto," she replied with a loving smile. Then she raised the glass again, which she still had in her hand. "For the next fifty years. And may they be just as happy as the last."
At her last sentence the blonde had to smile briefly, then he pulled her closer into an embrace and kissed her.

The next few years promised to be exciting, because as long as his Hinata was by his side, it just couldn't get boring.
