It's been centuries and many of us have forgotten it, but once it happened that the great ninja realms of the past fought each other to the brim, many good shinobi fell victim to the wars of that time, and many families were destroyed. Battles were fought without the fighters realizing the reason. The years of fighting passed quickly and with great losses, even after 13 years of ongoing war there seemed no prospect of peace. One no longer knew who was a friend and who was an enemy. The villages far away from the fighting also recognized the threat and took part in the battles. They did not seek war, it found them and haunted them. Soon the war raged across the continent, villages were destroyed and entire clans wiped out. A quarter of a century after the war began, every family, including those not proficient in the ninja arts, appeared to be involved in it and had already lost members.

The great empires were destroyed, attempts to build them failed. There was a shortage of food, raw materials and warriors. But the war, which was still raging, did everything possible to prevent any rebuilding. Techniques and schools spread across the continent and soon seemed to be spread everywhere.

By this time the triggers of the great war had long been forgotten, one had long since lost the fighting shinobi and no longer knew whether one was facing a friend or a friend when they met. After the kage fell and the leaders of the smaller villages were no longer there, disorientation spread. You had forgotten where you came from, many of the survivors led nomadic lives and moved from place to place.
It seemed as if the war had ended after nearly a century.

And yet it took another half a century to slowly recover from the effects of the war. The old villages, however, were not rebuilt, those responsible were dead, the souvenirs almost forgotten, even if ruins and monuments had survived some battles.

But during the battles one village stood still. It was the village of Genya Hidden behind the pain.
