Das Versprechen auf Glück
chapter five
When you're happy, you shouldn't want to be happier.
Theodor Fontane
The next afternoon, Hao, who was standing next to Anna, tilted his head a little and looked at what lay in front of him.
"Help me on the jumps, why did you think this is necessary?"
Itako looked at him with an amused smile. "Is the great Hao Asakura scared?"
Laughing, he said no. "Not at all."
Her grin disappeared instantly and she nodded once briefly. "Well, then it shouldn't be a problem for you."
With these words she then set off to enter the inn, knowing that Hao would follow her.
No sooner had Anna opened the door you could hear that most of them were present. The first thing that got to her ears was that Ren and HoroHoro were arguing with each other again.
After the two newcomers had taken off their shoes, Anna Hao led directly to the living room, which was also the origin of the screaming. When Anna opened the door, no one noticed the Hao at first and they were able to get an idea of the situation first.
In the middle of the room, the Spitzkopf and the Ainu stood opposite each other and hissed at each other again. Chocolove tried to mediate between them but obviously neither was listening to him.
At the table sat Ryu, Manta and Lyserg who were laughing about something. Yoh sat next to them and across from him Tamao who smiled shyly at him.
On the table there were empty plates and cups in which the remains of the food were still stuck that they had probably only recently devoured.
"That could be very entertaining." Hao grinned to himself who was standing in the doorway behind Anna.
"Wait and see how amusing it will be." Anna replied with furrowed eyebrows and then briefly cleared her throat.
"What's going on here?" then her voice thundered across the room.
Immediately all conversations died down and the argument between Ren and HoroHoro also subsided.
After she was sure of everyone's attention, she continued. "I'm gone for a few days and you guys act like little children right away?"
Anna entered the room and Hao followed, grinning. Yoh had already prepared his friends for Anna to come back with his brother. Which is why most of the discussions about this have already been conducted and they only eyed Hao with curiosity or suspicion.
"Go ahead, clear the table!"
Manta, Ryu and HoroHoro as well as Tamao obeyed immediately and collected the empty dishes and then rushed past the two of them into the kitchen. Only Tamao and Manta needed a little longer because they didn't dare to pass Hao all the way. The long haired man noticed this and took a few steps to the side with a smile on the two of them.
"Hello Anna, hello Hao." Yoh greeted the two with a happy grin. "Didn't expect you to come back so early."
"I see." replied Anna, not very enthusiastic. "Did you do the tasks I gave you?"
Yoh's smile disappeared."Yes, but there wasn't enough time to do everything on your long list."
"Hao will now lend a hand and do some of the work."
He hadn't expected anything else from Anna, which is why his grin by no means disappeared. Yoh could therefore start laughing again.
"Welcome under Anna's thumb!"
Ren, Lyserg and Chocolove hung their heads. The twins started laughing.
"If you're not done yet, don't sit around so lazily!" hissed the Itako. "Let's go to work!"
The room slowly emptied until only Anna and Hao were in it. Sighing, she turned to him.
"I'll show you your room and then you can help the others clean up."
With a grin at Anna he meant sarcastic. "I can not wait any longer."
No sooner said than done, after she had shown him the room, she took him to Lyserg who was supposed to clean the anteroom that led to the hot springs.
When the green haired Hao saw he turned away demonstratively and continued scrubbing.
Anna wished him "a lot of fun".
The Asakura replied with a smile on Lyserg. "I'll have that."
Shaking her head, the Itako turned away and was on the way to the living room when Yoh came towards her to mop the hallways.
As soon as he noticed her, he paused in his work and grinned at his ex-fiancée. "I'm happy for both of you."
Anna blushed slightly and mumbled "Thank you Yoh" as she walked by.
Arrived in the living room, she immediately sat down in front of the TV to watch her series that she had missed the last few days because of her little excursion.
It wasn't long before Tamao walked into the living room to wipe the table.
"It's nice that you're back." said the pink-haired girl kindly.
"The boys shouldn't really like that."
"No definitely not." the younger girl giggled.
When Tamao wanted to leave the living room again, Anna asked. "Did you finally manage to tell Yoh how you feel about him?"
The pink haired woman winced so violently as if she had just been hit. Anna was sitting with her back to her, which is why she hadn't seen it.
"And?" she asked after a while without getting an answer and looked over her shoulder.
Reluctantly, Tamao shook his head. "How do you think he'll react?" she whispered, embarrassed.
"I think you will be surprised." was her response to turning back to the television.
After dinner everyone went home who didn't live here, so it was only Faust, Tamao, Yoh, Hao and Anna in the Gasthaus En. Pilika and HoroHoro also stayed at the inn as long as they were on vacation from their coltsfoot fields. And Manta was still here because he had refused to go home that evening.
Lyserg and Chocolove each had an apartment. Run and Ren also had a nicer and slightly more glamorous domicile. And Ryu wanted to spend the evening with his old gang where he also wanted to spend the night.
With a satisfied sigh, Yoh let himself slide into the water of the hot springs not far from HoroHoro and Manta. His two friends looked at the Asakura in disbelief, who, when he noticed, asked in confusion. "What's the matter?"
"Doesn't that bother you at all?" Manta asked immediately.
Still confused, Yoh eyed his friends. "What should bother me?"
"About Hao and Anna, of course." said Ren who suddenly appeared out of nowhere and was also sitting in the water.
Yoh raised his hand and pointed to the Tao. "Where do you come from now? Have you not already gone home?"
Ren crossed his arms over his chest. "Now don't distract."
Grinning at the pointed head and shaking his head, Yoh let his hand drop again.
"Yes and?" said HoroHoro. "I already answer."
Yoh cocked her head a little. "What should I answer to?"
The Ainu and Manta hung their heads with a sigh. Ren, too, had another vein pulsing on his forehead.
"What do you think of the story with Anna and Hao?" he hissed indignantly.
"Oh, you mean that." grinned Yoh. "No, I don't mind at all. I'm even happy for both of them."
The asakura started giggling. "Anna looked a lot happier at dinner."
Manta looked at his friend in disbelief. "Which dinner did you have? Anna was as always."
"Yes, perhaps." Yoh giggled again. "But I am happy that my brother is here too. We will surely be able to help him to integrate him into a normal world. He will surely need good friends there."
Ren snorted, HoroHoro suddenly found fallen at the stars and Manta looked into the water.
"You know we have to help him. So don't act like that. He was really nice at dinner, too."
Ren snorted again. "It's no wonder that you feel that way. You are both idiots of the same kind."
"Also called twins." came the voice of the long haired man from the door.
Yoh half turned to him and grinned at his brother. "I was wondering when you would finally want to join us."
With an equally satisfied sigh like Yoh before, Hao let himself slide into the water before he smiled once through the round. "I had to talk to Anna about tomorrow beforehand."
"Why what is the morning?" asked HoroHoro. "Do you have anything planned for tomorrow?"
Hao nodded, grinning. "You can call it that too."
Yoh explained to them with a similar grin. "Anna made it clear to Hao that he may be more than a thousand years old, but since he's in the body of a teenager at the moment, he has to go to school too."
Manta compared the two twins who were sitting next to each other and apparently grinning at each other. He couldn't help but wonder if you would see any difference if Hao cut his hair.
"How do you know that again?" asked the Ainu.
"I had to scrub the hallways and happened to hear them talking."
"So were you listening?" Ren accused him.
Hao shook his head. "No, the door was open. Besides, my little brother was so clumsy and attracted attention from afar."
HoroHoro then began to laugh, which is why those present looked at the Ainu blankly."I just had to imagine Hao in the school uniform like a good student going to school with you every day."
"Fortunately not with me." Ren immediately clarified. "I go to a much better elite school."
"Yes to a snob school." scoffed the Ainu.
Ren narrowed his eyes for a moment, but then shrugged. "In contrast to you, then at least we will all have a school leaving certificate."
"Hey, I have a degree too." HoroHoro called immediately.
"Anyone can say that." Ren said. "Judging by your intelligence, you didn't even graduate from elementary school."
"Not only did I finish elementary school! And I can prove it too!"
The Tao raised an eyebrow mockingly. "Well then, prove it, here and now."
"I can't do that right now. I have my certificate at home near my coltsfoot fields."
"Anyone can claim that."
Pouting, HoroHoro then slid a little further into the water with his arms crossed.
The twins and Manta started laughing at the exchange.
The smile disappeared relatively quickly from Manta's face when he looked at Hao. "If you can mind reading you will always end up on tests and the same cheats."
"It's not about graduation." explained the long haired man. "It's about learning to understand people. After all, I have to stick to an agreement."
The Tao said scornfully. "Sounds
