Chapter 5

In a whisper, even like a gentle breath of wind, the melody of whirring wings reached the young man's pointed ears. He knew this sound, the magic of a magical aura and the familiar feeling of warmth that he felt flickering on the skin of his face.

So the blinking lids of his eyes rose, reluctantly revealing the deep, unfathomable blue beneath them. Cursing, mumbling incomprehensible words, he screwed up his eyes tightly again after staring directly into the bright rays of a light source that almost painfully blinded him.

Carefully he made a second attempt, and when the dark veils slid out of his field of vision, he looked into two bright blue crystals marked with joy, heard a sigh of relief.

"How are you?" He heard a girlish, somehow unreal-looking, excited voice ask.

The left elbow sank into the scratchy material of some dirty blankets as he slowly tried to get up and the fingers of his other hand carefully felt their way over the sweaty, warm skin of his face, covering their temples and forehead as if they could take the painful pressure that was in his head, so drive away.

"Umnh ... Navi?" Was the only thing the young man managed to say.

Small, silver tears glittered through the fairy's long eyelashes and found their way inexorably over her pretty face. All the fear that she had to have for her protégé again and again during her journey, the uncertainty whether he would survive his next adventure at all, all these feelings burst out of her, no longer wanted to hide inside her.

Astonishment shone from the eyes of the Hylian, a boy who had already almost lost faith in himself when he found out that he did not belong to the tribe of the Kokiri children, he who at that time did not even belong to himself had known himself, when suddenly he could hear her faint sobs from the crook of his neck.

"Hey, my little one ... I'm fine.", The hero of the time tried to calm the little fairy.

He tried to tilt his head a little, but winced slightly during this act when he felt an uncomfortable pain in his chest again from the triggered movement. The young fighter put a hand on the right side of his torso, where it tingled nastily.

"Well, at least under the circumstances ..." he added, slightly jokingly, while his gaze wandered through his surroundings.

The faint light that broke in single rays through the darkness of the ceiling drew his attention to the fireplace in front of him, exploited by hungry flames. He knew this place after all.

His childish mind began to work, bringing back the fuzzy memories of the past few minutes, or even hours ...

Left, left hand, bearing the sign of courage, groped its way unnoticed over the soft material on which it was lying, but stumbled upon something unexpected. He turned his head to the side and thought he could feel his heartbeat skipping a beat when he saw an angelic figure next to him. Startled, he looked at the resting image of the Princess of Hyrule, as she was slumbering calmly with her face turned to him.

Hold on a moment! Stop!

Well, he couldn't really remember this now. With Nayru's wisdom, could anyone explain how he could afford to be so close to the princess?

Overstrained, he fell over backwards, was able to catch and support himself on both of his arms just in time. Navi, however, hadn't been prepared for such a hasty, unexpected movement and rolled off left shoulder. It flew around furiously, wildly spraying a large portion of glittering fairy dust in the air.

"What is it? Couldn't you be careful?" She grumbled.

But the heated nagging of the little fairy did not get through to her protégé, was unconsciously ignored by him when he straightened up a little again, crawled forward a little on his four limbs and dared a look at the sleeping, handsome face of Zelda.

She was really beautiful. Wrapped in the white fabric of her long dress, only equipped with a golden chain that hung in fine links around her slender neck. Golden blond hair fell in strands on her lovely face.

And it was the moment of beautiful enchantment, as gentle as the sound of an inexplicable melody, in which the hero of Hyrule stretched out his trembling left hand to the face of the blond beauty.

Fingertips gently touched the delicate skin of her left cheek, turned toward him. A tingling sensation spread in the tips of his fingers, it began unstoppably to wander up to his arm and awakened a feeling in his wildly beating heart that he couldn't really describe. His own breath seemed intoxicated while a wonderful, inexplicable sensation of joy shot through every fiber of his veins.

What was that all about?

His heart just went crazy and he sank into its absurd machinations, a wonderful spell against which he did not know how to defend himself. It frightened him more than any creatures of horror that had ever met him that could have done it together and at the same time he felt the warmth of a security that embraced him.

It was just crazy ...

Forgetting everything around him, even the lovely fairy, who had come to rest on the battered chair in the corner and now looked over at the two Hylians, the children chosen by fate, only with her mouth wide open in astonishment, he leaned over a little closer to the princess in front.

He gently brushed a few strands of blonde hair from Zelda's beautiful face, gently stroked his pink lips with a finger, the sight of which drove his mind more and more.

Exactly at that moment the long eyelashes of the beautiful heir to the throne began to blink and Link withdrew his hand frightened, almost panicked. What was he doing here?

Zelda's heartbreaking yawn made the young man stumble backwards uncontrollably and plop his bum back into the dirty fabric of the blankets. Her lifting eyelids revealed the bright blue of the sky and the young hero of the time was not sure whether it was the princess's eyes or the pains of his body born from the hasty emotion that suddenly stole all the air he could breathe. Or maybe both.

He coughed, tried to calm himself down, but felt an unexpected touch, a warm hand gently patting him on the back.

"Link? Is everything okay?", Zelda's voice as bright as a bell asked.

The blonde beauty touched his forehead with her gentle hand and Link became restless, felt fidgety when he felt her soft skin and immediate proximity. But how was he supposed to prevent the colorful jumble of feelings that was raging inside him? As the hero of the times, he was anything but weak and also had one or the other magical ability, but mind reading was one of his bad luck, rather not one of them. So how could he have foreseen her sudden, so close presence?

So he just nodded wordlessly, daring not to move a little while he thought he saw a relieved smile creep onto the young woman's delicate lips. And at the same moment it struck him for the first time how tired and exhausted she actually seemed to him.

The weak light that reigned here made her look so fragile, so incredibly vulnerable, that he was sorry. He had never seen this side of the princess before.

But then he noticed two gentle hands that grabbed his shoulders and tried to squeeze into the blankets and he was reluctant to let Zelda do this, accompanied by a quiet request.

"What happened anyway? Why did you try to go out in your condition?", The young man heard her say.

"I ... I don't know exactly.", He explained, holding his head with his right hand and tossing his dark blond hair.

"I don't know what dream and reality of the last few hours are. I wanted to go looking for you, Zelda ... And I think that's the only part that my imagination has not figured out."
