Over time, it became impossible to ignore the fact that we as a species were relatively new to Kharak. However, this realization in itself did not bring peace to our world. As before, Art and Wise and the reason for our arrival were hotly debated. And while on the one hand we were preparing to launch the first satellites into orbit around our planet, on the other hand these disputes threatened to engulf us in a trench warfare waged with religious zeal (A3). The age of exploration of the space around our planet provided the first evidence that we were not originally from Kharak. Once manned space flights had been successfully carried out, after the discovery of metallic debris in the Orbi, it was soon decided to embark on a rescue mission - with astonishing results! The Proen, who were rescued and arrived unscathed in the High Desert, were never bigger than a fist.But even the first analyzes made it clear that one was dealing with debris from highly developed machines. Even more revealing, however, were the results of the particle detector, which discovered varieties of elements and isotope combinations that do not occur on Kharak - and, as it later turned out, nowhere else in this solar system.
If the secret of our origins was revealed a little, then only to the extent that at some point a strange spaceship of whatever kind must have circled our planet. The discovery of this narrow belt of rubble made a significant contribution to the leaps and bounds in metallurgy and production technology - simply by proving that such highly compressed and resistant elements could exist. It was only a matter of time before other technologies, especially engine technology, would benefit from these developments.A first breakthrough was achieved when it was possible to make the splitting of unstable heavy elements controllable, and another when the problems with the high-energy cells based on hydrogen fusion were dealt with by more powerful shielding that could be made lighter and smaller. Unafraid we looked out into the past, always in search of our origins, our beginning, when a turn of fate drew our attention back to the soil of our adopted home planet.

Large parts of the poorer clans believed that there were truly more pressing problems than exploring space.The funds that would be wasted should rather be used to change the environmental conditions of Kharak or at least to look for ways to feed a larger population and stop the advance of the desert. As the preparations for the first flight into orbit entered their final phase, Per Doine, a so far unknown preacher, made himself heard. He managed to unite the many sectarian movements and to revive the age-old myth that a great misfortune would come upon our people if the people angered the gods again with their arrogance. This religious revival movement found tremendous popularity in both polar regions and culminated on the eve of the launch of the Silumiin rocket in the march of a whipped crowd who rolled to the launch pad with a single goal - they wanted to tear down the rocket and the launch structure. The catastrophe was ultimately averted not by a miracle, but by the careful action of the leading technocrats who positioned themselves in front of the anti-aircraft guns on the launch pad.The angry crowd was put off with discussions until the 14 hours necessary for the preparations for launch had passed. Per Doin made his way through the barriers and prayed for forgiveness just below the rocket's main engines until it burned up in the immense heat when it ignited. He died a martyr for his idea.
