Chapter 1/3 - Dream or Reality

Darken entered her room and without turning on the light she threw herself on her bed. Her cheek burned hot where her uncle had hit her with his hand. Tears began to flash in her dark eyes and with one movement she wiped the moisture away with the sleeve of her dirty sweater.

She had adjusted to the standard lecture when her uncle had slowly got up from his chair and stepped up to her with a scowl. But the only thing she got from her uncle was the slap and an icy snide look.

"Now he doesn't even think I'm worth pissing off!"

She pulled up her nose and buried her face in the pillow.

A strange noise rang out on the floor next to her, like something metallic that trudged across the carpet with short steps. Then there was silence again.

Suddenly there was a thud, as if something landed on the bed next to the girl.

"What has happened now? You baby!"

Darken sniffed and looked up at her little friend, who was sitting next to her on a pillow and was looking at her through two large, blue, mechanical eyepieces that sparkled mysteriously in the twilight of the room. "Stop calling me a baby, you tin can!"

"I'll call you a baby until you've finally stopped crying," countered the creature, who seemed to measure just 30 centimeters. "And as I know you, I'll call you a baby until you throw your teeth at me!"

"Oh man, are you lovely again today, Lino," Darken grumbled, but the little robot's attempt to get his girlfriend to think about something else had succeeded.

The droid jumped on its short legs and staggered up and down on the soft surface of the bed in front of the girl's face, while it pressed its equally short arms against the elongated, tin-like body.“I strongly assume that you have once again brought shame to the family!” Lino stopped and his eyepieces suddenly drove out of the flat head part. "Right?"

The answer was just an approving growl, accompanied by an exaggerated roll of the large dark eyes.

"Strange," Lino muttered in his tinny voice. "I didn't hear old Hamato screaming at all!"

"He didn't say anything," the girl explained shortly and slowly straightened up. She leaned against the wall and pulled her legs up against her.

The wind picked up and the curtains moved softly. Rays of the moon fall into the room and Darken observes this absently. In two days there would be a full moon again. She didn't have to look at the calendar to know that. She felt that deep inside her. Every time she sat at the window on a full moon night and looked at the earth's satellite, her blood began to pulsate in her veins and a feeling that seemed to be like fire surged through her body all night. At least something that was left of an oozaru Saiyan.

Lino noticed the girl's absent look and sat down next to her. He guessed what she was thinking about. "Be glad it didn't work out with this transformation," he whispered softly. "What do you mean, what a fuss your uncle would make every time you take his house apart every month!"

Darken smiled weakly. "But it is again proof that I am completely incapable."

"Nobody is incompetent," countered the little machine. "You just haven't had the chance to prove yourself!"

As soon as Lino had uttered these words, a pillow hit him and knocked him over.

"Hey! Stop it! You could seriously injure me with your supernatural Saiyajin powers!" Lino giggled at this and made a sufficient leap on the floor when Darken tried to strike again. "If you irritate me further, then I'll blow you out of the universe with a final flash," threatened the girl and followed the robot. But he dodged her skillfully and laughed tinny.

The two friends raged for a little while, until an imperious "Quiet up there!" put an end to their game.
