They were having dinner. Son Goku had dropped her about an hour and a half ago. Vegeta hadn't said a word since then. Neither about the fight against Buu nor anything else. Bulma didn't want to hole him in front of her parents and Trunks. Son Goku had told you about the fight by and large, but left out details. As he said it, at least half of the victory fell to Vegeta, if not almost all of it. But Vegeta hadn't said anything about it. Neither to the questions of his friends, nor to the urging of his son. He just kept silent. After dinner, which was pretty quiet as Bulma had asked her parents not to ask questions or talk about Buu. Trunks had long since stopped asking, he got no answer after all.

Only in the evening, when Bulma was alone with Vegeta, did she try to talk to him. It had started to rain and slowly but surely a thunderstorm was approaching.

"May I ask what you've got?" "It depends ..." "On what?" "Whether you want an answer." Bulma looked puzzled. Vegeta was lying on his back and staring at the ceiling.

"Well, an answer wouldn't be bad." She turned to him and propped herself on her elbows. Vegeta managed a smile, although he didn't really feel like it. Bulma had a very different way of asking questions. Not this eternal reign. She wasn't going to rush him. "Did I see a smile there?" Vegeta had to grin. "Man, I thought you'd forgotten that." She stroked his cheek. "Do you know what a scare you gave me?" Vegeta's expression darkened. "What do you mean?" "In the stadium. I was afraid you would have become the same as before. What was going on?" He was silent. Lightning flashed in the sky and the thunder followed. “Oh no, not again!” She nudged his arm lightly.Although Vegeta was a bit depressed because he had almost sold himself to Babidi and was now in a certain way ashamed of himself, he had to smile. "You don't even want to know ..." "Oh yes! Let's talk!" "Do you remember the two customers who sucked Son Gohan's energy away?" "Yes, they were kind of scary ... “And pretty strong compared to before.” Bulma shifted closer to Vegeta. “The two were assistants of the magician Babidi.” “Goku had spoken of that correctly.” Vegeta nodded. "When we were in the spaceship, at the third Lewel, I think Dabra broke off his fight with Gohan. He said he had found a better fighter." Bulma frowned. "To be more precise, he meant me ..." "YOU?" Vegeta nodded. "Why should you fight Gohan? You have no reason to." "Babidi then somehow crept into my mind. Promised me power, strength and more strength. At that moment, the two guys from the tournament impressed me. .. "He bit his lip and closed his eyes for a moment.Bulma Marked, struggling with himself, came closer to him and rested her head on his chest. "I wanted to be like this before. Or rather, I wanted to be better than Kakarott, but that's nothing new ..." Bulma raised her head. "That almost sounds like you've changed your mind." Vegeta looked into her eyes. “Not necessarily changed, but I accepted the fact.” Bulma's heart jumped a little. Something must have happened on the Kaio Shins planet, something that had changed Vegeta. She stroked his hair and kissed him hard. But Vegeta didn't want to, not yet. “Should I tell now or not?” “Keep talking.” She smiled at him and lay down next to him. "Where were we? Babidi ... In order to get the promised strength, I had to give myself up. I did it, but somehow managed that Babidi didn't want to have me in her hand. My only goal was that Fight with Kakarott.“Bulma caught her breath.” To counter the fight a little, Babidi carried us into the stadium. Kakarott didn't want to fight, so I started to provoke him and ... "He broke off. Swallowed." And fired into the stands. "Bulma finished the sentence for him. Vegeta just nodded. There was silence." But why did you fight Buu then? So the first time? "" Kakarott and I sensed the demon's aura and I felt that was more important. But I didn't want to fight with Kakarott. So I pretended to agree with his suggestion to fight Buu together and then knocked him out. "After a long pause he continued." But I found that Buu didn't mind my attacks at all and made a decision. " "To die. "Vegeta nodded." I had to control myself not to cry when they said you were dead. Trunks was no different. "Vegeta grimaced. He still knew too well how he had felt when Son Goku told him that Buu had also absorbed Bulma and Trunks ...

The rain pelted the windows harder than before. "Let's leave that. Now I would like to hear from you about the fight against Buu in the world of the Kaio Shins." "What's that big? Kakarott has already told you everything. We both fought, he was better, but not good enough. I had the idea with the Genkidama and he carried it out. That was all. "Bulma smiled, looked at his face. Finally Vegeta turned to her and looked her straight in the eyes. “You are not mad at me?” Bulma shook her head. Vegeta's face relaxed, he pulled her close and kissed her. It thundered again. At the same moment the doorknob was pressed and the door opened a crack. Bulma pulled away from Vegeta a little. “Trunks?” When his son's name got a lot, Vegeta turned to the door too.Trunks entered a little shyly. "Hey darling, what's the matter?" "I ... well, I just can't sleep with the noise out there." Vegeta frowned and propped his upper body on his arms. Trunks was noticeably a little embarrassed. Especially to Vegeta ... "And now you want to sleep here?" Trunks blushed, but nodded slightly. “What are you standing there then?” Bulma and Trunks stared at him as if he had gone mad. A questioning look from his father, a grin on his part and Trunks was next to his parents and snuggled between them in the warm blanket. Bulma was still pretty confused. 'What got into him? 'She stared at her husband. He just smiled. “Can the light go out?” “Yeah ... sure ...” Bulma turned and turned off the light.

The sun peeked into the bedroom and covered the whole room with its warm light. Dishes rattled in the kitchen. Vegeta turned his head to his partner. She was still asleep. And trunks? Trunks too ... He had snuggled up to Vegeta and turned his back to his mother, who in turn leaned her head against Vegeta's shoulder. (It was more or less crooked and Trunks a little lower ...) Vegeta sighed. He felt great, but he wanted to get up because his back was slowly hurting. `Looks like I was lying a bit stupid that night. 'He grinned. That was worth it. He would have liked to get up, but on the one hand he would have woken up his little family and on the other hand he didn't even know what to do then. Work out? No, he had absolutely no desire to do that. So he just stayed there. Trunks woke up after about 15 minutes. He raised his head and yawned heartily. “Well, finally awake taller?” It took Trunks a little to understand that his dad was talking, because he usually didn't speak friendly at all. He sat up before Vegeta could prevent him, and so Bulma was awake too.

"Does anyone mind if I get up now?" "Why should we? "Bulma yawned. Vegeta just shrugged his shoulder and got up. He found himself jeans and a T-shirt and went to the bathroom.

When he came out again, everything in the bedroom was already tidy. Made the bed and opened the windows. The smell of fresh rolls, scrambled eggs and coffee came from the kitchen. Vegeta grinned. `Always follow your nose. `When he arrived in the kitchen, he met Bulma and Trunks already sitting at the table. “Very late my dear.” She smiled at him. Vegeta sat down and all three began to eat. Bulma's parents had long since finished breakfast. (After all, the dishes had rattled while they were still in bed.)

"What do you think if we do something today? How about a picnic?" Trunks was enthusiastic. Vegeta looked up. “Why not?” He said while chewing the rest of the bun. “You don't speak with your mouth full, Dad!” Vegeta addressed him.'What got into him? `His son just laughed, so he couldn't help but grin. "I'll take it all as yes now, okay?" Vegeta just nodded slightly. Trunks paused and looked at his father. "And what about the training?" He asked hesitantly. “Will be postponed until tomorrow.” Trunks cheered, Bulma laughed and even Vegeta couldn't help but smile.

The picnic went very well after Bulma's performance. They were swimming in the lake and the weather played along too. Only Vegeta found it a bit boring in places. He had plenty of time to think, and that's exactly what he had to do. How should it go on now? He had hardly had any problems changing with his family, but would he be able to behave so differently to all the others too? He decided to let the last time be a minor exception. He would continue training with Trunks, after all, you could be strict and friendly at the same time.Trunks didn't mind that his dad was "halfway normal" again.
