It flew through the air, tore branches, twigs and leaves with it, landed roughly in a bush. But she didn't stay there long. Fought his way free from the branches, got down on his knees, pushed off and shot up into the air in the direction of her trainer, who was waiting for her above her. One fist stretched out, she saw him right in front of her, expecting to feel the jolt at any moment that proved she'd hit. Only half a meter separated her fist from his stomach.

He dodged. Effortlessly, as if it were nothing, he turned away, just enough that she missed him. And just as effortlessly he hit her with the flat of his hand on the neck, which made her crash into the bushes again. This time she lay there, panting, exhausted. Through the leaves she saw Trail's white boots land in front of her. She lifted herself halfway up and looked up at him.

"It won't work that way, Maiju!" he said. For a long time now, Freezer's people only called her Maiju. Her whole name was just too long.

"You have to anticipate the reactions of your opponent. If you don't learn that slowly, you will never win a fight. And you know what that means!" Maiju nodded. Losing was almost the same as dying.

Her trainer continued: "So, now up with you and let's go! Don't pretend fatigue!"

That was typical trail again! He camouflaged his severity with humor. Maiju was really lucky with her instructor.

She struggled to her feet, but as soon as she got up she felt dizzy and dropped to her knees. Trail, who was about to fly away, turned to her, "Hey, don't pretend you can't anymore! It's not even the morning over!"

"I still can!" she replied, angry at herself. A little dizziness wasn't something that should blow you away!

"I just stumbled!"

"So? Good! And now get up and carry on! You will see, by evening I'll have you so far that you can guess my every move in advance!"

He waved his finger in front of her nose. She grinned "I hope so, otherwise you can experience something!"

Trail flew away after giving her a small smile and positioned himself in the air over a clearing. His scouter beeped, then two columns of numbers began to scroll on the colored disk in front of his eye, which stopped at 960.1 and 1002.

Aha, he thought, it's this boy, Jeice, and his trainer. The little one has made quite some progress, a week ago his fighting strength was 800!

He couldn't see them from here, they were too far away, but his scouter had registered them anyway. He looked down at Maiju. The two rows of numbers were joined by a third, which stopped at 508. Trail sighed. He had been wondering for a long time what had induced Freezer to have the girl trained. She was very smart and docile, and could even fly, which was a great achievement for a 5-year-old, but her fighting strength was not very far off.

His own combat strength was 1000, which was considered a low standard among Freezer. The elite soldiers all had a combat strength of around 10,000. Zarbon and Dodoria were even higher, and the members of the long-planned Sonderkommando should have at least 100,000! On the other hand, 508 was a joke! (People have a K.k. of between 4 and 8)

In the meantime Maiju had got up again. As soon as she was vertical, the dizziness overwhelmed her again, but this time she remained steadfast. She wasn't a wimp!

Something rustled in the underbrush. The girl raised her hand, palm in the direction of the low noise, listened briefly, aimed and shot an arm-thick beam of energy into the foliage. A short squeak told her that she had hit. Then everything was quiet. The scorched branches and leaves smoked, there was a black burned stain on the ground behind them. Maiju nodded, then pushed off the floor and flew away. She attacked Trail. And met. The training fight continued.

When she returned to her cabin that evening she was so tired that she almost fell asleep while walking. Almost as if by themselves, her feet carried her to her door. Just as automatically she entered the code, the door slid open and she entered. The door closed behind her.

Maiju would have loved to lie in her hammock and fall asleep, but then she would starve to death while sleeping. After a full day of harder training than ever before, she nearly died of starvation. So it didn't help, she had to go out to eat.

But first she peeled off the remains of her combat suit - during training, the suits were regularly turned into holes with a bit of fabric around them - and stood under the shower. She washed herself with ice cold water. She was used to that. At least the worst of tiredness disappeared. After showering, she dried herself off and put on a new combat suit, the old one she threw away. The boots still did. Then she left her cabin and went to the dining room.

There was a lot of activity in the corridors: soldiers hurrying in different directions, mechanics pushing carts full of spare parts, armor and various other items of equipment to the camp, or running in the opposite direction with empty carts.

An outsider might have been surprised that such a crowd did not lead to clashes, but it was perfectly normal for Freezer's soldiers. They could all anticipate and respond to the movements of others. Maiju could move freely between them. Every now and then a soldier hissed past her in a particularly hurry.

Accidents happened occasionally because at the speed at which some flew, they could sometimes no longer evade in time.

In the dining room itself, the situation wasn't much better. Like every day.

The girl snatched the last tray from under the nose of an older soldier and quickly disappeared into the queue closest to the door. Thanks to the routine of the cooks, who distributed the food to those waiting at top speed, she was able to find a seat five minutes later. Which turned out to be not so easy.

Finally she found one - unfortunately right next to Nappa. The bald head of a Saiyajin didn't even notice her when she sat down next to him. And she didn't do anything that could draw his attention to her either, just devoted herself to her dinner at first. Vegeta, who was sitting across from his big buddy, had noticed her very well, but he said nothing. Still, Maiju kept an eye on him. She didn't like him. Not to say - she hated him. Because she knew very well that he had brought her here and killed her mother. Her person in charge had never said anything about it, but she didn't need to find out from him in the first place. She had seen the last moments of her mother's life. And Vegeta's hard features weren't easy to forget. He was responsible for ensuring that she knew nothing but this life, only the struggle, the pain, the contempt of the fittest.

Suddenly she received a push from the right, which almost threw her off the bench.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean, you're crazy!" she snapped at Nappa, who, as if by chance, had punched her in the ribs with his elbow. However, he did not respond.

"Oh, sorry, Maiju, didn't see you!" he sneered.

"Then get yourself a pair of glasses, you blind fish, I'm not that small either!"

"Do you want to insult me?!"

"Yes a!"

He leaned over to her: "You'd better let it stay. Could easily be the last thing you do in your life!"

"Oh, shut up!" she hissed "If you think I'm afraid of you, you're wrapped around crooked!"

"It would be better for you if you were afraid! What's your fighting strength again? Four hundred?"

"Five hundred and ninety-nine!"

"Oh! It's great what progress you're making! Five hundred and ninety-nine! Hahahaha!"

Maiju was seething with anger. But she couldn't let herself get carried away! He only provokes me because he wants me to attack him! Because he knows exactly that I have no chance against him!

It drove her almost mad that Freezer's soldiers could vent their whims on her with impunity just because she was the smallest and weakest in the shop. And the fact that she was a girl didn't make things any better; on the contrary, it made things even more dangerous.

So she preferred not to answer, got up, cast a suspicious look at Vegeta, who sat there as unmoved as if nothing had happened, but only looked at her with his usual scowl, and left.

Back in her cabin, she let out her anger on her sandbag, which soon broke under the hard blows and kicks, then she brushed her teeth, changed her fighting suit with her pajamas and threw herself in her hammock. She was tired, but her anger still predominated and so she tossed and turned for a long time.

If only she were strong enough to finally show them all! But that could take a while. After all, she had taken one step today: She could finally calculate the opponent's reactions! Their fighting strength had also increased a lot again. If she continued like this, she could do it. And she was determined to do that.

With that thought she fell asleep.

She shouldn't be training again anytime soon, though. Something completely unexpected happened.

The next day started rainy. When the soldiers looked out of the window in the morning, they saw a sky that was even darker than usual and from which real waterfalls tumbled.

Regardless of this, they went about their duties: helping with repairs and building new outbuildings, flying through space on space patrols, and the like. Those who had nothing special to do went to a training room or outside to train.

Trail and Dump, Jeice's trainers, were also waiting for their students. Bad weather should not prevent them from giving the children a comprehensive, very
