6th

Maiju slept the next morning and therefore came a little late into the training room, where Waat waited impatiently while he monitored the warm-up exercises of the soldiers for whose training he was responsible.

When Maiju burst in with a crooked training tank and a ten-minute delay, he spun around and immediately started yelling at her: "What are you thinking of being late ?! Point seven was agreed and not a minute later! Just don't let this become a habit , clear?"

Involuntarily Maiju had taken a step backwards and bowed her head, but less out of a sense of guilt, but more because her ears could not stand the captain's roar at close range. So she looked more contrite than she really wanted to appear when she replied: I'm sorry, captain! Will not happen again!"

"I hope so - for you!And now straighten your tank and warm up! And you stop staring and please carry on! "The last sentence yelled over the shoulder was aimed at the soldiers, who then quickly began their exercises again.

While Maiju was looking for a place between the soldiers and at the same time getting her tank into the right position, she noticed how many people were giving her strange looks as they passed.

Probably they are secretly laughing at me! she thought bitterly. It must have made a really great first impression! Sure, the best way to gain respect was to let Wat shout you at you on the very first day!

Maiju finally decided on a place in the right rear corner, as seen from the door, in order to be as far away from Waat as possible. Then she warmed up, stretched her muscles, and waited for instructions. It wasn't long in coming.

"Okay guys!" Waat's fire-eater voice echoed through the room, "We'll start today with simple push-ups. For all newbies and those who have forgotten: at least a thousand pieces and nose down to the floor. Whoever has no nose kisses the tiles". All right? Let's go! "He cracked a whip that he suddenly had in his hand from somewhere and all the soldiers began with the prescribed exercise.

Maiju was suddenly very pleased with the simple fact that she had a nose.

There was silence in the training room, except for the occasional cracking of the whip by Wat patrolling the ranks and whip down his back to anyone who did something wrong, even if he didn't screw his nose on the floor. Someone in particularly bad physical condition was panting like a steam engine.

Maiju himself made the first five hundred push-ups no problem. She had done so many in training with the trail. After that, however, it started to get difficult. She forced herself to breathe calmly, getting her movements and breathing into rhythm, just as Trail had taught her to do.

The air in the room was hot and smelled sweaty. She wasn't surprised about that - after six hundred push-ups she was sweating so much that she was tempted to wipe the sweat from her eyes, even if she would inevitably have fallen over.

But she couldn't let it show that her arms were already trembling from the exertion, because Waat was now standing right in front of her and she didn't want to give him a reason to yell at her. So she gritted her teeth and carried on.

Six hundred and thirty-nine .... six hundred and forty .... six hundred and forty-one .... it was slowly becoming a torture.

Go on, Maiju, don't give up, you can't be the first to surrender! she preached to herself in her mind.

That's how it worked.Whenever she was about to break down, she told herself not to be the first to give up, and that gave her the strength to keep going.

Eight hundred ... eight hundred one .... eight hundred and two ..... Go on, keep it up, you'll be there soon!

The man next to you collapsed. Panting and cursing suppressed, the soldier rolled onto his back, his hands covering his face. Immediately, as if conjured up, Waat stood in front of him, kicked him firmly several times in the stomach, and, as expected, began to shout: "What is that supposed to mean ?! Don't let go, go, hop, hop, up with you and carry on! You start again with the last hundred, and don't plead tiredness! Go on! "

The unhappy warrior groaned but made no move to get up. That only made Waat even more angry: "Up with you, go, a little suddenly, otherwise I'll let you start all over again!"

The threat had an effect.Maiju's neighbor came up again and continued with the interrupted exercise. Waat stood in front of him and watched him for a while, but then went to yell at other soldiers.

Maiju was now at eight hundred and twenty-four - somehow she had managed not to forget the counting as she watched what was going on next to her. Now she was watching her neighbor - he was no more than twenty years old and was somewhere between Nappa and Raditz in terms of size, but he was not as strongly muscled as the two of them, but rather lanky; accordingly, his fighting strength had to be low.

She concluded that he hadn't been with Freezer's troops long.

His skin was pale blue to turquoise, his shaggy, short-cut hair dusty red. He was one of the unfortunate ones who didn't have a nose; his face bore some resemblance to that of a tree snake, including the narrow, slit eyes that he had closed.

Maiju turned her attention back to other things.

Some time later it was still at nine hundred eighty-twenty!

Nineteen ..... eighteen ..... The sweat ran into her eyes, so she had to close them.

Don't give up so close to your goal!

Fourteen ... thirteen .... She almost slipped her slippery palms on the floor, if that happened to her she would bite herself in the ass.

Ten ... nine .... Maiju no longer bothered to hide her exhaustion.

Seven ... six .... five ..... four .... three .... two ..... one .... zero!

She pushed herself up one last time, panting, pumped out, with trembling arms, but not unsatisfied with herself.

She sat like this for long minutes, gasping for air, her pulse slowly calming down again. Maiju took a deep breath, straightened up and let her gaze wander around the hall. As far as she could see, she was one of the first to finish.Very good!

Others seemed far from being finished. A little further away she could see Waat attacking a soldier who had apparently also run out of strength.

She turned her attention back to her neighbor. He looked like he was going to drop dead any moment, but still managed to finish the exercise. A quarter of an hour later than Maiju, he was still quite well on schedule. As before, he rolled over on his back.

Maiju waited until his breathing stopped intermittently, then she spoke to him "You finished damn fast, for having to do a good hundred more!"

"I just hurried!" came the answer that she hadn't really expected.

"Hurry up? Or did you mean to say shitty?"

He half straightened up "Hurry! What do you take me for?"

"For what you are, I suppose!"

"So that is clear: I am not a cheat! And what are you...?"

Maiju met the question with suspicion "I am what I am. What do you think?"

"Well, to me you are a girl who is far too young to be part of Freezer's troops and who I cannot classify into any race."

"I am Ljarnakan!"

He opened his eyes: "What? I always thought Lyarnakans looked different?"

"I'm a mutant, if that tells you something. And now let's leave the subject aside, please!" She didn't want to talk about that.

"Okay. May I ask what your name is?"

"You may. My name is' Maiju."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Ti'aLan!" The name Maiju didn't seem to mean anything to him. He really had to be new.

"You haven't been here long, have you?"

"What makes you think that?"

"Because you don't look like it. If you have been resident for a long time, I can't hold your upper arms with both hands!"

The answer didn't seem to edify him.

"That's right, I've only been here a week!"Looking a little offended, he tensed his biceps. The result wasn't exactly impressive.

"You can see it!" Maiju said lightly. He was really offended at that.

"So, you think you are better than me, you three-cheeses!"

“I don't believe it, I know!” Maiju rose to her full, very impressive height of five feet and took up a fighting stance. Ti'aLan laughed.

"I'm scared in my pants! How old are you actually?"

"Five, and here for three years!"

Ti'aLan's orange eyes became twice as big as usual. "What, really? No shit?"

Maiju nodded. The person opposite leaned forward, amazed: "Tell me, how high is your fighting strength?"

"A thousand and one hundred and seven!" she replied, grinning at his utter amazement.

He gasped "A thousand and one hundred and seven!"

Maiju's grin widened "How tall is yours?" she asked innocently.

"Not nearly that high! Nine hundred and fifty!"

"Only? But the regular training is only from a thousand!"

"I don't know anything about that!"

"They probably didn't want to give you an extra trainer because of that little bit. If you make an effort, you'll have it soon!" guessed Maiju.

Ti'aLan couldn't answer, because at that moment Waat's hoarse voice rang out once more: "Now that everyone is finished, let's get to the next one: Come to the front and get two weights each. You strap them around yours Ankles and then they run. Everyone at their own pace until I say something else! Anyone who slacks knows what to expect! "He cracked the whip.

Groaning in displeasure, Ti'aLan got to his feet and followed Maiju rather slowly forward. When he got to the commotion that marked the location of the boxes
