Part 10
"The time has come!" Piccolo said tonelessly and in his right hand he clasped a small, light blue, glowing sphere. Tired, I staggered toward my bed, supported by Gohan. "This sleeping pill really hits you!" I mumbled softly as I slowly sat down on the soft duvet. The small smile on the black-haired Sajajin's face gave me a little new courage for this difficult path.
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine! Trust only in yourself!" said Dende from the background. With veiled eyes I looked over at the young Namek once more, nodded laboriously and laid my head on the fluffy pillow. Piccolo came up to me and sat on the edge of the large bed. "We can do it!" he growled dully, raised his right hand and put it carefully on the place where my heart was beating. A warm shower ran through me and I smiled confidently at the tall green-skinned man.
Then I closed my eyes and plunged into the world of dreams ...
A cold breeze hit my face and I instinctively narrowed my eyelids. Through the small gap I looked at a dreary stone landscape that was bathed in an ugly, pale gray. A light haze of mist lay over the pile of rubble and made some high rocks disappear into its opaque wall.
While my appraising gaze wandered over this frightening dream world, a hand came, with a gentle grip, on my right shoulder.Immediately a slight shiver crept down my arms and let all the hairs go up abruptly.
"I can feel it!" Piccolo growled darkly. Subconsciously, his hand increased its pressure on my skin. A sigh of relief escaped me when I recognized the tall man's voice. In my mind I was expecting someone else!
I looked up at the big Namek questioningly. "How do you know that he is here? I thought in my dream you have no more powers! ... And I don't feel anything!" My voice was just a low whisper, but I had the feeling that it was twice as loud echo in the rocks. Piccolo shook his head slightly: "That's not it! Concentrate on the cold that is slowly approaching. It's almost like an icy wind enveloping you!"
I laboriously swallowed the heavy lump in my throat and tried to concentrate. The sudden ice-cold horror collapsed over me like a wave and washed over all my thoughts. Now I knew why I hadn't felt it! My body had resisted noticing this terrible power in order not to go completely mad!
A terrible panic spread inside me, which took my breath more and more, because I felt how the physical horror came closer and closer! It was as if I was suddenly ruled by a completely alien power ...
"Pull yourself together, please!" Piccolo hissed against my left ear, increasing the pressure on his hand. It hurt, but it was this real pain that brought me back to the "present".
With fearful eyes I looked up over my shoulder at the tall Namek. But his gaze was expressionless. It was impossible to tell whether he believed in victory or expected defeat.
A faint rustling from the thick fog between some high rocks made me winced. At the same moment, all of my attention was focused on that one spot ...
And while my wide-open eyes lost all shine, the black shadow of a figure emerged in the smoky white haze. At the same time, Piccolo took his fingers off my shoulder and quickly hid the light blue sphere that lay in the palm of his other hand.
Like the Black Death, the Dream Guardian floated through the thick fog, his cloak still leaving those dark rubbing marks on the stony ground. But he did not quite come out of the protection of the mist, but remained in the cloudy veil, the damp gray. Waiting like a hunter on the lookout who first checks his prey with his eyes before he strikes.
Even though I wasn't touching his body, I felt Piccolo tense his muscles to the limit. This time he didn't want to allow himself any more mistakes!
The oppressive emptiness of the hood stared at us through the fog. But then, suddenly, the dream guardian turned away from us!
Completely confused, I looked after the creature, which slowly disappeared again in the fog and left a black trail behind it.
"You won't escape us that easily, you monster!" I heard Piccolo growl beside me. It was with horror that I noticed that the great Namek was also marching towards the fog. He purposefully stepped onto the bloody dragging marks that led straight into the haze.
I was too perplexed to move. Stunned, I stood in my seat and saw the tall man disappear into the fog.
... silence ...
My heart was beating loudly, up to my throat, making my breath quicken. Shivering, I put my arms over my chest and pressed my fingers together.
A scream!
He came out of the fog field ... But I hadn't been able to hear whether the scream had come from Piccolo or from the dream guardian. That outcry was just horrific. That something like that had sprung from a normal throat seemed almost impossible to me!
But now I couldn't stand it anymore in my place. I needed to know what was going on there! With the worst premonitions I ran into this dangerous world of fog ...
With the grinding marks of the cloak in view, I ran through the haze and felt the damp swaths glide over my skin. Cold water droplets collected on the surface of my skin as I followed the black blood, breathing frantically. My heart contracted painfully, as if it were being ruthlessly squeezed by a large hand. What had happened?
Another loud scream made me stop abruptly. And then I heard Piccolo's voice ...
"Don't come any further ...." Again a suppressed scream penetrated the thick fog in which pain and anger were united. "You ... you know how to escape. Get out while you still can. I'll distract him for as long as I can!" It was difficult for him to speak so loudly, that couldn't be ignored!I sank to my knees, trembling. "P ... Piccolo." I stammered softly, unable to do anything else. Those screams had definitely come from him!
"Get out of here! ... The magic ball broke when I fell into his trap! There's nothing that can save you from him! And I don't have the power to kill him, even if he's wounded!" The Namek's words reached my ear as if through cotton wool. My only chance to survive was to escape from the dream. But that would mean that Piccolo would have to stay here and be killed. He would be helpless at the mercy of the monster!
With dull eyes, I rose and stared into that opaque white wall that lay before me. No! I wanted to face the danger, no matter what my fate might be. How did Dende say ?! “Only trust in yourself.” Now the moment had come!
Slowly, with heavy legs, I walked further into the fog, but I was determined to end this once and for all!
I only guessed what end it would end ... And at the thought I felt that icy hand again, which wrapped around my heart!
Well, well ... poor Picco! Hasn't thought about it (strange, is he sick?) * Lol *
