19. Fear for Vegeta

"And how is he?" Yamcha, who stayed in a guest room, quietly opens the door to Vegeta's room. Bulma, who is sitting at Vegeta's bed, answers him lost in thought: "I don't know. He ... doesn't move." "Have you been sitting here since last night?" Yamcha asks her now and steps to the foot of the bed. Bulma just nods and takes the damp cloth from Vegeta's forehead again. "He ... just lies there. Without any movement." she murmurs softly now. Yamcha looks at Bulma with concern. "I've spoken to him a lot and tried to wake him up, but ... it's almost as if he doesn't register anything that is going on around him." she talks like from a tape. "Don't worry. You know how tough he is. Vegeta can take something." Yamcha tries to cheer her up. "Yes, but that ..." Bulma begins to stammer. "You literally drowned him out with this anesthetic.Maybe the last dose was too much? "She ponders aloud." What do you mean? "hacks Yamcha." Feith said that this dose was twice as strong as the one he was given before. That means it was 14 times stronger than the normal dose that is used in humans. "Bulma begins to explain and hangs the cloth in the bowl of water that is on the table next to the bed." And Feith didn't say that either times he would recover from this dose ... "she adds. Yamcha’s gaze wanders to Vegeta who is actually lying there completely motionless." Yamcha! I'm afraid that he ... that he might never wake up again! "Bulma drives around desperately, jumps up from the chair and goes to the balcony door. Yamcha looks at her worriedly and follows her." Don't worry! This Feith was definitely wrong. You know how indestructible these Saiyajins are. "He tries to calm her down and puts a hand on her shoulder." Mmm .. yes maybe? "Comes softly from her and her hand wanders onto her forehead."Maybe you'd better lie down? You haven't slept since yesterday." he tries to persuade Bulma, who looks quite worn out, to go to sleep. "No! I can't just go to sleep now. I can't leave him alone!" Bulma drives around. "Be sensible! You are completely exhausted! It was all just too much for you. Lie down!" Yamcha grabs her shoulders and looks for her gaze, which is back on Vegeta. "See it! You can't help him! It will be a long time before he wakes up! Maybe it will even take a few days ?!" he says it to her face. "Yes, it could well be ..." she thinks absently. "But ... I can't just leave him alone." she repeats again. "Listen, you can go to your room and get some sleep." Yamcha begins to suggest to her. "But..!" Bulma wants to interrupt him again. "Stop! No buts!" he keeps her repeating that she can't leave Vegeta alone now."I'll stay here, okay?" he makes her the suggestion. "What would you do?" she asks him incredulously because she knows that he is not particularly good at talking to Vegeta. "Sure! And when he wakes up I will of course tell you right away!" he smiles at Bulma now. "Really?" Bulma asks, still a little uncertain. "Sure! You can fully rely on me!" it comes from him confidently. "Well, then ... thank you ..." Bulma is defeated and lets Yamcha lead her to the door. "You seem to really love him, don't you?" Yamcha suddenly asks her. Bulma winces at this surprising question and looks at him in shock. "What is it? Did I say the wrong thing?" he looks at her uncertainly. "No ... it's okay. Everything is fine." distracts them. "I'll go and lie down a little. Now I can feel the tiredness really well ..." Bulma yawns and hurries out of the room. "What was that?" the whole thing seems Spanish to Yamcha and turns to Vegeta."Has he done something to her? Did he hurt her ?!" Suddenly a strange anger rises in him because he would simply trust Vegeta to do everything.

Bulma slowly closes the door behind her and stares at the floor. "Is it that obvious?" she asks herself now, goes to the bed and pulls back the covers. The last question Yamcha had asked her still echoed in her mind as she lies down in bed and snuggles into her blanket. She thought she was over it. That she had repressed the feelings she had felt for Vegeta back then, had lost. She had only recently made up her mind to leave him alone. She had resolved that she just wouldn't care what he does or where he goes. Feith had also helped her not to think about him during this time, although he always haunted her memory somewhere. The three months he was in space she had cursed him! He just got it with a "We live in different worlds." fobbed off and left them here. She had every reason to be angry with him at first, although over time she accepted his decision. How should he know what it is like to be desperately in love. Although she had met Feith and should have felt at least a little in love, she was mostly depressed and dejected. But when he suddenly stood in front of her one morning in the bathroom, it was as if the sun was rising and pushing the rain out of her soul. His dark eyes that threatened to suck them up. His charisma, his whole existence. His mere presence calmed her. But his detached attitude towards her told her that he had forgotten what had been between them back then. For him it was just a slip-up, a one-night stand. And yet she didn't regret it, even though she knew it wouldn't happen again. It was almost just like before, when he lived here and they were still normal to each other.Lived with no feelings for one another. But then, two days ago, when she was looking for Vegeta everywhere. Found him nowhere and then found out that he had been kidnapped, it gave her a pang. She was afraid she would never see him again. She didn't know what Feith was going to do with him, or how long he had been in his power. Was he still alive at all, although she was always quick to push that thought away. Bulma feels nervous about it. All that has happened lately, the thing with Feith, Vegeta's kidnapping, all that she had seen in the basement of "Vailant Medicines". It was just too much for her. Now that she has finally brought Vegeta back, he doesn't want to wake up. "What if he stays like this?" she whispers softly and desperately. "It's all just my fault." she attaches to it dejectedly and realizes how scared she is for Vegeta. Your heart is pounding loudly and with concern for him. Suddenly she becomes cold and she wraps her arms around her: "Oh, if he could at least understand me ..." she sobs softly and closes her eyes in the hope that she might be able to fall asleep.Tears gather in her closed eyes and the last thing she murmurs to herself is: "Please ... please Vegeta, wake up again. Do it ... for me." So she falls into a quiet and peaceful sleep.

Later that evening, when Bulma got up again, she swapped places with Yamcha again. It went on for two whole days. Bulma, Yamcha and Bulma's mother alternately kept watch next to Vegeta. He hadn't woken up since they brought him back to the Capsule Corporation. He hadn't even moved yet. His breathing was so shallow that Bulma put an oxygen bottle by the bed for safety and put a breathing mask on him. He looked so peaceful. So calm and relaxed. Almost like a small child when it sleeps. "You don't want to go back, mh ..?" Whispers Bulma who is sitting next to him again on the bed and staring at him. Her gaze falls on his wrists, which were worn out by the strap with which they tied him to the bed.He must have woken up in his coma in between and tugged at it. Bulma reaches for the ointment that is on the table and uses it to treat his chafed wrists. "How's it going?" Bulma's mother enters the room. "Still unchanged." it just comes from Bulma. "I wonder what he's dreaming? Maybe it's where he is now so beautiful that he doesn't want to go back?" Bulma smiles wistfully at her mother. "He must have been through a lot. It's a miracle that he is still alive after such a dose." Mrs. Briefs makes her daughter aware that she can be glad that he is still alive. "I don't know if this sleep can be called ... life?" doubts Bulma dejected. "Oh, Bulma sweetheart! Cheer up! He'll handle it." it comes from Mrs. Briefs to cheer her up. "Here I brought you a blanket." she now holds out the folded blanket to her daughter. Bulma looks a little surprised."As I know you, you stay here all night." winks Mrs. Briefs, Bulma smiles. "Mh ... yes, thank you mom." Bulma smiles and takes the blanket off her. "I'll bring you a pot of tea later." Bulma's mother says goodbye again and steps out the door. Bulma's gaze wanders back to Vegeta who is breathing calmly and briefly. It's already dark outside, she notices now and she is standing by her couch chair, which she has placed because it is more comfortable than the other one here, to close the curtains. A little later she snuggles up in the couch and grabs the book she brought with her. A night like this can get really long if you have nothing to do. She leaves the light in the room on, it is supposed to keep her awake just like the book. She throws another worried look at Vegeta. Everything is still, only the whistling sound of his breathing through the breathing mask assures her that he is still alive. "Why don't you wake up?Don't you like it with us? "She mumbles and with a sigh she goes back to her book.

It's all dark and quiet. Only his own steps and the echo of them can be heard. The passage he has been walking for hours, it seems to him, seems to be infinitely long. The corridor is perfectly straight and sharp rocks rise up on both sides. He could just take it easy and just fly over the rocks to leave this darkness behind, but he doesn't feel strong enough to do so. He feels heavy and tired. So he wanders slowly through this corridor and every step seems to be harder for him. He's already stopped wondering where he is. Because for some time now, such dark, abandoned places have been part of his second home. No wonder, actually, he grew up in such a dark, lonely
