Part 9

The Blader ran hastily along the dark corridors, his mind was in a turmoil, this black-haired girl with the cheeky red streak and the shining silver-misty eyes threw him totally off course. There was something about her that made him mindless, she controlled him like Black Drancer in a different way. He felt trusted and understood by her and yet he didn't know why. He could only fragmentarily remember the warm day. They were in the rose garden watching the sunset after flying their Bit Beast. Drancer was as fiery as the light of the setting sun and Driveara reined in with a gentle ice attack that soothed the red one. The two fooled around unrestrained in the air and put their shimmer on their owners who watched them in their wild game. That day he confessed his feelings to her and broke one of the most important rules: Don't show anyone your feelings because it shows weakness. He'd done it anyway ... and he felt stronger. That was a total contradiction in and of itself, over and over again he had been taught that feelings made him weak, but this one feeling made him stronger, much stronger. He ran back to the secret exit and pushed the stone tablet, the exit pushed to the side and the well-trained blader slipped silently back into the corridor and quietly disappeared to his room. There he waited patiently for his grandfather's outburst of anger, which he knew would break into the day just as surely as the new morning. He lay down on his bed and deposited his blade next to his pillow, then fell into a deep sleep.

Voltaire ran angrily down the corridors, nobody had seen or heard anything, nobody could explain it. Even the surveillance cameras hadn't recorded anything! He swung open the door and let it crash against the wall. Then he spotted the blader who jumped up like a tarantula and pointed his weapon at him.He watched the boy who was visibly frightened, but in his eyes he could see that he wouldn't know anything either. "Calm down, put the blade away again," the old man said soothingly to the boy. The latter lowered the black blade and put it back into the device on his belt. Still tired, he wiped his eyes briefly and then stepped in front of the man and knelt down. "How long have you been here in the room?" Asked the angry voice. "Since this morning, right after I sent cricket out, he was restless and had infected the others. I let him out so he could rage outside," the boy reported truthfully. Voltaire nodded satisfied, he had seen it on the surveillance camera, but he wanted to make sure that his grandson would say this too. "Well, take a rest, the last few hours have been exhausting. Report to Boris at 11 o'clock. And this time you will obey him. Got it!""Said the old man. The boy nodded and got up again, then waited until his grandfather withdrew from his room. He exhaled with relief, then went back to his bed and tried to fall asleep again, but finally gave up and dozed off just to himself to recharge his batteries. Shortly before 11 o'clock he got up and went to see Boris. As he stepped into the room he saw his team gathered in front of the man. "You are late", Boris said immediately but did not dare to raise his hand against the young Blader since yesterday. "As I can see the nose is not broken, too bad I thought I had slammed properly", said Kai dangerously calm and his eyes glittered with triumph "Don't you dare to embarrass me," hissed Boris. "Yes," replied Kai and indicated a slight bow. Tala and the others found it hard to resist laughing, but they admired the courage of Kai over and over again. He had always taken more beatings than she did, and yet none of them could break his pride. With his head held high he went to the others. "What do we have to do today?" He asked bored and crossed his arms over his chest. In his typical posture, he leaned against the wall. Boris looked at him with suspicion, he knew that Kai was hiding something as always. Kai was like a sealed book to him, he was unpredictable and dangerous you had to train with him with great care because nobody could guess what he was thinking. Not even Black Drancer could do that although it was programmed on Kai. "Don't pretend to be friends," threatened Boris, then turned away and opened the training bowl.

"Do a little slower cricket," Riku called to the stallion when she saw that Tyson had fallen far back again. "The boy is terrible, now I know why Kai always flees so much when he trains with him," said Michael, amused. The horse narrowed its eyes and trotted back angrily, then spurred Tyson on by pushing him over and over. "Can't we even take a break?" He asked, totally exhausted, but the horse rebelliously shook his head. "Oh yes, you understand us. Can't you let him ride? Then we'd make faster progress and you could get back to Kai faster," said Kevin and looked at the stallion. The stallion knew that this was probably the most sensible thing, but he hated to let strangers on his back, on the other hand he wanted to go back to his master. Reluctantly he stood in front of Tyson, gratefully he tried to climb onto his back but found that this was not as easy as it had looked with Kai. Steven rolled his eyes and pushed him upstairs. "Can we finally go on now?", Riku asked annoyed. Then the group started moving again, none of them suspected that the Demolition Boys were being trimmed for their annihilation.

"Again, it has to be faster", Boris barked and read the program again. Tala and Ian were already quite out of breath, they were used to hard training but what they had to do today even gnawed at Kai's strength. "We have already won against the computer x times, how often?" Asked Tala and wiped the sweat from her forehead. > What the hell is wrong with me? We don't even train for an hour, why am I tired now?
