I open my eyes, distraught. Something hit me. At first I don't even know where I am. I lift my head and look around. Bright sunlight floods the room, warm, fresh wind blows in and plays with the curtains. Points of light dance on the ground and I hear seagulls screeching. I turn my head to the other side and see Kai. He tosses and turns restlessly. Beads of sweat glisten on his forehead and his face looks very tense. I know immediately that Kai is having a nightmare. I fished a rag from the bedside table and wiped the sweat from Kai's forehead. Then I bend over him and stroke his cheek. For a moment he calms down a little. But his breathing is still too fast and suddenly he begins to sob. I lower my lips to his and hug him. Kai cuddles up to me like a small child and buries his head with me. I cover us up and rub his back soothingly.Suddenly I feel tired again. I close my eyes again and shortly afterwards fall into a dreamless sleep.





"Wake up" a voice penetrates my ear. I am jolted out of sleep and open my eyes. I feel totally weak. My body is still drained and screaming for rest. I blink once and see Kira standing on the edge of the bed. I'm still too sleepy to read the expression on her face.

"So what's going on?" I grumble and turn my face to the right. Kai lies next to me and blinks tiredly at me. That puts a smile on my face immediately.

"You slept through a whole day! I think you have a right to

find out who or rather WHAT we are! "says Kira. I turn my head back to her and look at her. Right now, Kira is getting on my nerves a lot. At the moment I don't care who or what she is I want to stay here in bed.Want to be alone with Kai. I want to talk to him. But no! Kira has to tell us something! I sigh and moan softly as I straighten up.

I feel my body screaming from the exertion and fighting back in pain as I sit up straight in bed.

"Then go ahead!" says Kai and also lifts his upper body. I run the palm of my hand over my face and look at Kira. Her face is tense and her eyes have taken on a strange look. They shine like she's been crying. She looks at me anxiously and nervously.

Then she turns her gaze to Kai and replies: "You can't do that!

don't even know! We have to be far enough from the castle first,

so I can tell you! Otherwise Michael and Gabriel catch me,

before I can tell you anything! Come on, now finally! "

I notice the haunted undertone in her voice. So it has to be really important.Kira piqued my curiosity.

"Okay, let's go quickly then!" I say and look at Kai. I swing my legs out of bed, grab my clothes and disappear into the bathroom. I jump in the shower, get dressed, and then stand in front of the sink. I am brushing my teeth when Kai enters the bathroom.

He's already dressed and smiling at me. I return his smile. But unfortunately it doesn't look so good with toothpaste in your mouth. Kai and I start laughing.

"Not so loud! Otherwise Gabriel and Michael will notice us!" warns Kira. I do my hair and get out of the bathroom. I put on my shoes and leave the room with Kai and Kira.



"It will be pretty cold. Better put that on!" Kira holds out black cloaks to both of us, which we accept with thanks.

"And now follow me." Kira whispers and scurries through the dark corridors. Kai and I follow her. Finally we stand in front of a large dark wooden gate.Kira pushes a button and then the door opens.

"Come on, now. Quick." Kira says and starts walking. Kai and I run after her and I have trouble keeping up. I feel the fresh cold wind on my face and cool air enters my lungs. The stars shine above us, clustering around the crescent-shaped, silver moon.

I notice my breath quicken and I begin to gasp slightly.

My body has not completely overcome the great strain of recent times and my foot is starting to hurt again. I grit my teeth and try to keep up with Kira and Kai. But after a while I have to admit to myself that I can't do it. I am still too weak. My body rears up and I feel my legs give way. I can not anymore. I collapse, panting, gasping for air. Kai stops, frightened, and kneels down to me.



"What about you? Are you okay?" I can clearly hear the concerned undertone in his voice.

"Yes, it's okay. My foot is just hurting again." I say, breathing heavily. I can't react so quickly because Kai has already piggybacked me and continues walking with me.

"Kai, that is not necessary. I am much too heavy. Let me down." I mean.

"No. If we are caught here then we are delivered. And you can not go on. It goes without saying that I carry you. And don't talk such nonsense. You are not too difficult for me. After all, you helped me when I did this Had nightmare last night. "Says Kai affectionately and continues walking.

I don't want to answer any more and remain mute. I wrap my arms around Kai and rest my head on his shoulder.

But suddenly I listen up. Am I listening correctly? Do I hear the clatter of hooves? Are there horses? I look up and can see the outline of Kira and two horses.

My eyes have got used to the darkness and when Kira comes closer with the two animals, I see my friend's face. It's tense, but there is still a smile on the thin, pale lips.

Kai stops jerkily and I claw myself tight so as not to fall.



"I thought your foot was still hurting. So I have two horses ready. These are Noxumbra (nightshade) and Argenta Luna. (Silvery moon) Kai you will ride on silver moon and Nini and I on nightshade." Says Kira . But somehow I disagree with that. At home I rode every week. I can ride alone. My foot is not a hindrance. And why should I ride with Kira? If I already have to ride as a couple, then with Kai!



"But I want to ride with Nini. And I can't ride at all! Nini can. Then it would be more sensible if Nini and I were to ride the same horse together!" throws in Kai.I know him so well now that I can interpret his voice. And I can clearly hear the sour undertone.

"Okay, you're right. Then you two ride on Noxumbra and I ride on Argenda Luna." Kira gives in.



Kai lets me slide gently off his back and I immediately walk towards the two horses. The horse that is on my girlfriend's left is snow white. On the forehead there is a black spot in the shape of a crescent moon. I don't need to think twice. This is Argenda Luna. The horse's mane blows back and forth in the wind and looks like silver. The blue eyes reflect the moon. The beautiful animal looks at me good-naturedly and warmly. I stroke his mouth and then turn to Noxumbra. This animal is also completely white, but the mane is pitch black. The animal's eyes sparkle like the stars and shine as brightly as the moon. But this horse's eyes, as well as its mane and tail, are pitch black.Both horses are quite large and broad.

When I put my hand on the horse's forehead, it neighs softly and presses its mouth to my cheek. I stroke the long black neck of the mare and gesture Kai at me with the other hand.

"We have to keep going. Let's get on." Urges and Kira. She is already sitting on Argenda Luna.

"Kira is right. Come on, Kai." I say and swing myself onto Noxumbra's back. The saddle is very strange. It is made of soft leather, but decorated with all kinds of jewelry. The bridle and reins are also silver and the stirrups are wide and also decorated.

"Kai, come on now. Don't tell me you're afraid of horses!" I can't suppress the slightly amused undertone in my voice.

"Don't be afraid. But these animals are not very safe to me." says Kai skeptically, but still swings behind me.

"Can we?" asks Kira and rides beside us.

"Yes, we can."I answer your question.

"Okay, let's go." And Kira dashes off.

"Kai, just hold on tight to me." I say. Kai puts his arms around my waist and then I give Noxumbra the signal to start running. Immediately this Kira rushes after. I am totally amazed. The horse has incredible speed. The headband comes off and the wind blows my hair backwards. I feel how Kai tightened his grip on my hips and presses against me. I have to smile a little. My strong Kai is afraid of horses. That is impossible.



We ride close behind Kira. Her black cloak is blown backwards by the wind. It looks like a movie. Actually, I've always wanted to ride through the night like this. I feel like I'm in a dream.



But suddenly I pull the reins so hard that Noxumbra rises. Kai falls on his bottom with a "damn".I increase the pressure on my thighs to stay on the mare's back. Noxumbra descends again and I release the pressure on my thighs. I jump off the horse and run to Kai.

"Has something happened to you? Are you okay?" I ask concerned.

"Yes, it works. But what was that supposed to mean?" he asks me and gets up, rubbing his bottom.

I turn around and point to Kira, who sits frozen on Argenda Luna.

"Kira what is it?" I ask confused and hold Noxumbra by the reins. Kai stands next to me and suddenly takes my hand.



I turn my head to him and get frightened. He has opened his eyes wide and his mouth is slightly open. Now I am completely confused. So what's going on? I do not understand that!



"May I ask what's going on here?" I'm getting restless.

Kai points to the front with one hand, totally perplexed.

I take a step forward and then stop dead in my tracks.
