The rain lashed the streets and small rivulets had already formed on the edges. A sharp, salty wind blew around the corners of the house and continued to drive dark rain clouds across the sky.
"She's over there ..." Some men in blue and white uniforms with the Navy logo on the front were running around the corner. All were armed and apparently they were chasing someone.A girl of almost seventeen, soaked in the rain, pressed herself close to the wall of a house.
But already she heard steps coming around the corner and a rough, dangerous sounding voice right next to her ear: "The bitch must have been hiding ... But I am sure that we will have her soon." "Then she will never wish to be born, that pirate brat ... "whispered a second scornful voice.
Aki looked around in panic for an escape route, but in the meantime the rain veil was so thick that you couldn't see two meters away. What should she do? She could just run down the street, but she would surely be caught. It was also impossible to defend herself, which was easily recognized by the broken sword on her belt. The only option was-

“Shit!” It was again the rough voice of the naval officer who said, “I was so sure angry with me
With his dagger in hand, he stared at the spot where Aki had just been standing."We're searching the side street, it can't be gone ..." The voices left.

Aki took a deep breath. Up until now she had been lying flat on the low, thatched roof of the house, not daring to breathe, let alone move. The men had stood in close proximity, but hadn't looked at the roof. She was lucky, but whether it would work a second time was rather doubtful.

She let herself slide silently from the roof, which was less than two meters above the ground. The men were nowhere to be seen, only their voices and the footsteps of their heavy boots on the cobblestones of the narrow streets could be heard.

Aki ran in the opposite direction. Suddenly she crashed into someone painfully and fell to the ground. Her heart almost stopped in shock and she could only think of one thought:
"Anything else ... you found me ..." "Hey who is that?" said a youthful voice overhead. She opened her eyes carefully. A black-haired boy in a straw hat stood in front of her. He held out his hand to pull her up. "Sorry ... did you hurt yourself?" he asks with a worried face.
"Nah ... thanks ... it's okay," Aki stuttered confused and rubbed her bleeding elbow.

"We're looking for a restaurant and a shop where we can buy provisions ... I'm Luffy by the way," said the black-haired man. "And that's Nami, Zorro, Usopp and Sanji," he added with a grin and pointed to the four behind him. "And what is your name?"
“I'm Aki.” The girl answered truthfully, because she couldn't think of a suitable excuse at that moment and she also had no intention of lying to the boy and his friends.
She was just about to add something when she remembered why she was here and that she was being followed, but by then it was too late.

"Well ... there we have her, the little pirate brat" The naval officer roughly grabbed Aki by the arm.“Hey who are you?” The surprised undertone in his voice could not be ignored. His other hand flicked to his dagger, as if on a sudden inspiration. “But not pirates too?” He emphasized the word “pirates” in a particularly derogatory manner.
"But ... we are pirates too ..." Luffy replied calmly and eyed the man curiously.

A crazy twinkle came into the officer's eyes. "Book everyone in and take them away," he ordered one of his men.
"Not so fast ... I think that should be better considered," grinned Zoro and his hand slipped to his
Katana. Sanji drew on his cigarette and looked bored at the floor. Usopp had taken cover behind him as a precaution.

"What are you waiting for ?!" the naval officer snapped at his men "Do you want to put down roots here? Grab them and bring them to our captain."
"GUM GUM PISTOLEEEEE !!!" One by one, Luffy pushed them to the opposite wall or into the rain barrel in front of the house."Thanks Luffy" smiled Aki "But how did you do that? Did you eat some devil fruit?" she asked curiously. "Yep, from the gum gum fruit," Luffy said cheerfully. "But now we want to eat something first. I'm still starving ..." "Preferably somewhere where it's warm and dry ..." Nami said, because the others didn't seem to have noticed that it was pouring out of buckets.
Everyone agreed and Aki led them to a small bar, the only one in the village.

"Schach ma woo gommschtn idiosyncratic?" said Luffy with his mouth full and caught a headbutt from Nami. The question was directed to Aki, who had blushed under the curious glances of the others.
She was a very pretty girl, with her shoulder-length brown hair that was a little wind tousled. She had blue-green eyes and a winning smile.
"I don't know exactly ..." she began, knowing full well that this sounded idiotic. But it was true, because she had gotten into a bad storm at sea and washed off board her ship.At some point she was washed up in this little village and found by the navy. The navy discovered the fragments of the small nutshell that washed it up and recognized a well-known pirate flag on it. They captured the girl, but for some inexplicable reason she had managed to break out of her prison in the navy base.

"That was about two days ago ..." Aki looked down. "But what was before, I don't remember ... there was the storm and I passed out ... unfortunately I can't remember anything else," she concluded sadly.
"Do you want to come with us?" Luffy asked immediately and grinned. “That would be great, wouldn't it?” Aki barely noticeably shook her head. "I have to find my captain," she muttered. "Then come along until you've found your captain ..." Luffy persisted.
"Ok ..." Aki finally grinned resignedly.

She liked the straw hat gang and anyway she was glad not to have to sleep another night in a cold, abandoned shed."We're heading for the next island," Nami said and spread out some maps in front of him. With her finger she indicated the route to be taken next. She had lent Aki a few clothes before her, because she had no other clothes with her.
She leaned against the Rehling and looked out to sea. "Can you fight with a sword?" suddenly asked a deep voice behind her. She turned and looked into Lorenor Zoro's suntanned face. "How so?" she asked with a grin.
"I saw earlier that you had a sword on your belt," he replied. "Well ... I probably won't be able to do much with it" said Aki and pulled her broken sword out of its sheath. "It broke in the storm the other day ..."

"I couldn't part with it yet," she said and looked lost in thought at the shimmering sword in front of her. The blade was broken off a bit at the front, but otherwise it was a very pretty sword, richly decorated with gold and a beautiful blue-green stone on the hilt."I found it once on the beach when I was a little girl ..." she said thoughtfully and put the sword back in its sheath. "I taught myself to fight with it, because I lived with my grandfather, who was sick and couldn't walk anymore ... At one point our village was attacked by pirates and my grandfather was killed.
I swore to myself that I would become a pirate too, in order to avenge my grandfather and to let pirates appear in a different light. Not always as heartless and brutal ... "

Actually, she didn't intend to share her whole life here, but she hadn't had anyone to talk to for a long time and it was like a relief for her. "Sorry ... I didn't mean to talk too much," she muttered, blushing.
Zoro just grinned. “How about a little duel?” At that moment, Sanji called from the galley: “Food is ready!” Aki grinned at Zoro and just said “I'll see, but one day definitely”. Then she ran past him to the galley."Man Sanji ... that tastes good again" said Luffy happily and took the fifth serving. Aki was already on her fourth serving. "It tastes really good," she grinned.

Aki liked the pirate life on the Flying Lamb better every day. She had already been on the ship for 3 days and still felt at home. In just under three days they would reach a small island, according to Nami.
It was a beautiful, sunny day and everyone was lounging on deck. Usopp was tinkering with one of his inventions, Nami was reading a newspaper that the Postgull had brought her, Luffy was sitting on the sheep's head on the bow of the Lamb, Zoro was dozing and Sanji was thinking about what he could cook for dinner. Aki stood leaning against the Rehling and dreamed.

"Hey Luffy, isn't that straw hat from Shanks?" Aki asked and the captain of the Flying Lamb looked at her in astonishment. "Yes, that's right ... do you know Shanks?" "Mhmm" mumbled Aki "He saved me once, but that was a long time ago.But I can still remember the straw hat he always wore. He was very important to him ... "Luffy nodded." And why do you have his hat? "asked Aki.
"I promised him I would become the pirate king and when my dream came true, I'll give him the hat back," grinned Luffy.

It was strange. Luffy was a special person, because Aki felt comfortable in his presence and they could talk and laugh about their dreams for hours. She was glad to have come to the Flying Lamb and to have made new friends.
Aki also quickly fell in love with the straw hat gang with their funny and somewhat shy nature.
