Chapter: Alone again

InuYasha stood there paralyzed. Kagomes sank lifeless to the ground a few yards from him. Sango and Miroku also turned to face her.
Just a few minutes ago it had looked like they had a chance against the demon lord Narukus. But then one of the demons had torn Kagome's bow and attacked her. With success. Her clothes were soaked in blood.
InuYasha used the Kaze no Kizu and killed the demons with just one blow. But the feeling of victory that usually arose after a battle was won was absent. Inside he only felt an all-swallowing emptiness.
Sango had finally arrived at Kagome's. "She lives!" she said with relief after taking the girl's pulse. InuYasha relaxed again.
"InuYasha ..." Kagome barely audible whispered his name. He knelt next to her and when she recognized his face she smiled. “It was nice to have known you.” With a great effort she continued: “Sango, Miroku, take care of Shippo, will you?”“What are you talking about?” InuYasha grabbed her hand. “I'll take you to Kaede and she'll make you healthy again.” His voice was like that of a little boy, thought Kagome.
"Stop grinning like that, we have to be on our way!" InuYasha tried to sound harsh, but his desperation could be clearly heard. Kagome was lying in a puddle of blood and the hanyou couldn't stand the smell. He put his arms around Kagome to pick her up when she groaned. "Keep breathing, do you hear?" His voice sounded a lot softer than usual ..
But Kagome was breathing more and more unevenly and was getting weaker and weaker. InuYasha looked helplessly at Miroku and Sango. Kagome clung to him and whispered with his last strength: "InuYasha, I love you ..." Then her eyes glazed over and the life left them.
InuYasha shook herself gently. No reaction. "Kagome! Open your eyes again!" he whispered. "OPEN YOUR EYES IMMEDIATELY !!!!!
Sango tell Miroku worried.InuYasha seemed to be out of her mind. She felt tears run down her face. Miroku took her in a comforting arms.
Inuyasha still held Kagome tight. He was alone again. Never again would those eyes shine on him or sparkle with anger.
"Who do you think you are? You mustn't leave me here alone !! Did you hear?" he roared into the night. “You're so selfish,” he whispered in a choked voice. He noticed something damp on his cheeks. He gently laid Kagome's lifeless body on the grass and jumped onto the nearest tree. Sango and Miroku didn't need to see how weak he was. Tears are a sign of weakness, he had learned that in life.
But he couldn't suppress it. His desperation was beyond anything he had ever felt. He sobbed. Now that the most important person in his life was gone, there was no point in having feelings. All he wanted was one more thing: to become a demon so that he could forget all the pain.“InuYasha?” Miroku's voice seemed to come from another dimension, one where pain controlled all thoughts.
"Get out of here!" the Hanyou hissed. He didn't need anyone anymore. Which was also better.
“You're moving down here right now !!” Sango wasn't as controlled as the monk. Her voice was high and hurt his ears. He dropped from the tree. Kagome would have called her "Osuwari" long ago. Kagome. He'll never see her again. He had to forget her.
Miroku stared at him. Shit, I still have traces of tears on my face! Inuyasha thought. Sango, however, fell into his arms and sobbed. Completely perplexed, he let it happen and patted her on the back. Miroku had taken care of Shippo, who was crying heartbreakingly.
Sango had calmed down again. "I still can't believe it," she said hoarsely. InuYasha just nodded. He didn't want to talk because he knew his voice would tremble.
"We have to let your family know."Said Miroku and looked at the floor. InuYasha nodded again, as if he knew exactly that this was exactly what had to be done. The monk cleared his throat. InuYasha paid him his attention. His eyes had lost all expression.
"You're the only one who can in Kagome's time, so you have to ..." The Hanyou interrupted Miroku: "Yeah, see you ..." He picked up Kagome's body and slowly walked towards the well.
Sango and Miroku checked him out. “It's horrible to see him suffer like that,” Sango said. Miroku nodded. He felt a wave of desperation trying to overwhelm his mind.
InuYasha returned at dawn. Kagome's mother had collapsed in tears. He would understand if her family hated him now. Just as he hated himself. After all, he hadn't been able to protect Kagome. Sango and Miroku wouldn't be able to attend the funeral service, but what does he care? He decided to think only of himself in the future, everything else had ended up that way.Miroku and Sango sat talking near Kaede's village. Miroku motioned for him to sit down with them. "We thought about what should be now. What do we do now?" Sango spoke up.
"I don't know what you're up to, but I'll keep looking for the jewel shards and .." InuYasha hesitated. "And avenge Kagome. Naraku is history!" He pronounced Naraku's name as if it were poison. "ALONE."
The two said nothing. "You want to carry on as if it hadn't happened?" Shippo shouted from the background. InuYasha didn't answer. Of course it will never be the same again, he thought.
"I'm going to be a full-fledged demon and that's it!" he snapped at the fox demon. “I never thought you'd be that cowardly!” Shippo wasn't the least bit intimidated. "You just want to forget about Kagome because you are not man enough to deal with her death! This is so pathetic!" it broke out of the little creature.Inuyasha looked blankly at Shippo. But it wasn't finished yet. "Kagome didn't deserve to be forgotten! You hurt her enough while she was still alive ..." His voice failed. " I despise you!"
Shippo's words were meant to hit the Hanyou hard, hurt him, but his heart had died with Kagome. Without a word he turned and left. They didn't follow him. He was all alone again.
