Chapter: The commander and the pilot
Hi everyone!
@ crucifix: Thank you for coming. * happy * Oh, you're really poor off .. how did the math go? * thumbs down * And what do you have to give the presentations about?
I think it's all the better that you still took the time to read through the new part and comment on it. * cuddles * Thank you very much!
@ Gestirn: Hey, you still read along? * dichauchknuddel * Great, I'm really happy. Thanks to your two commies, the post is also faster this time, because you have more incentive. Many thanks to you too!
So now it goes on.
Yert walked across the hall with long strides. When he saw the elevator doors slowly close, he accelerated and at the last moment slipped his hand between them. The doors rolled open again and he stepped inside.
"Commander," greeted a soldier and nodded to him after clapping his fists twice.
Someone patted his shoulder."Hey, Yert. How are you, never seen again." Yert turned his head and looked directly into the beautiful face of a pilot named Hei, who smiled mischievously at him. Her blue eyes shimmered excitedly and, as always, she had her dark blue hair loosely tied in a braid, with two strands framing her face. Yert swallowed, his mouth dry.
'Not again,' he prayed in his mind. Every time he met her, he acted like a stupid child. He was an adult, couldn't he even talk normally to a woman? - even if it was so beautiful ...
"Yert?" She asked, still smiling and he felt the blood rush to his head.
"Um, yes. Good. I mean ... thanks, I'm fine, it could be better, but it's ok. U- and you?"
Her bright laugh reached his ear. He tried hard to look her in the eye and not stare at the ground, so as to hide the blush that had risen in him."I'm fine too, thanks for asking. But," her face darkened, "Schreier wants to give us double the time from now on, we should work even longer ..."
Schreier was one of the older soldiers. He was good friends with Ressja, the two fit together like ass on bucket. Schreier was his "nickname" used by many; mainly from his students. His real name was Shrai, and he lived up to him. His loud voice picked it up easily with any megaphone, so that he could be sure that he always had the undivided attention of his soldiers, because personal conversations were pretty much impossible if they didn't want to start shouting themselves. Yert shook his head.
"Any longer? You have been working most of the day." He received a grumble of approval from Hei.
"Exactly. But it still doesn't seem to be enough for him.Idiot ... "She had pressed the last word between her teeth with a suspicious sidelong glance at the young soldier who was in the elevator with them. Yert couldn't suppress a grin. At least it wasn't that bad this time, after all she talked all the time.
A low ringing told him that they had arrived on deck 4. Shortly afterwards, the computer's voice told them where they were.
"Deck four. Officers' quarters. Conference room 13. Security department 2."
The elevator door rolled open and after Yert gave Hei a short smile and then said goodbye with a nod, he hurried out and a moment later disappeared around the next corner.
There he would have liked to hit his head against the wall. Stupid, he was just stupid! He didn't understand why it was so difficult for him to even think clearly in her presence. He was lucky if she didn't already think he was a complete idiot. He had never met her outside of the facility, had never had the courage to speak to her of his own accord about anything that had nothing to do with flying, and even less had it occurred to him to maybe invite her - too if only they had a drink in his quarters.
He leaned back against the wall and rested his head against it, then closed his eyes.
There were other things that were important now. He had to put that with Hei on the back burner. At least that way he had a little longer time to learn to pull himself together and maybe he could talk to her normally at their next meeting -
"Are you all right, Commander?"
The voice tore him from his thoughts so much that his head snapped forward and his eyes widened in shock. An officer looked at him questioningly; Yert thought he remembered that his name was Grokahn.Gritting his teeth, he wondered what kind of picture he was giving. Couldn't he have waited to feel sorry for himself until he was in his quarters ?!
"... Yes. Everything is fine," he assured and looked after Grokahn as he shrugged and went in the direction of conference room No. 13. He had completely forgotten that. Today there was a discussion about the need for security cameras in the military buildings ... He seriously toyed with the idea of just skipping and taking the afternoon off. But he couldn't do that, Ressja could also be present and when he saw that his incompetent son missed the meeting, it would only reinforce his belief that Yert was no good.
The three spaceships from earlier came back to his mind. Had they really turned off? Perhaps they actually just got lucky and these soldiers of Freezers had never intended to come to Krawa.Because Yert did not believe that they had changed course because of the general and his incredible reputation.
So he gave himself a jerk and followed Grokhan. It was going to be an exciting meeting - security cameras as if they didn't have bigger problems to solve ...
Nappa and Raditz smacked their lips terribly. So bad that Vegeta wanted to stick her skewers down their throats until they couldn't smack their lips anymore. But unfortunately that was just a dream.
Nappa burped and Vegeta swallowed the last bite of meat before throwing his skewer into the fire that blazed in front of them. With a quick wave of his hand, he wiped his mouth and put an elbow on his thigh. Then he propped his head on the open hand.
"Ah, that was necessary! I almost starved to death," shouted Nappa in his loud voice and patted his stomach contentedly."Just a little dry, guys."
Lost in thought, Vegeta looked into the fire. The hot air shimmered over it and the prancing flames cast ghostly shadows over the faces of the other two sayajins.
In the meantime it was getting dark. The sun had almost gone, but this planet had to have more than one because the next was already rising on the horizon.
He saw how the hot fire devoured the pieces of wood, they collapsed with a crack and every now and then tiny sparks flew out of the swirling red structure. He liked fire.
And actually he could have sat here for hours if they hadn't been on a mission. Raditz had been right at least on one point: you couldn't waste too much time.
So reluctantly he straightened up. Nappa looked at him with hunched shoulders; he hardly had to lift his head, his figure was so massive when seated."Oh, Vegeta. Can't we stay a little longer? I -" But Vegeta silenced him with a cool look. Nappa understood and got up, as did Raditz. Without another word, they climbed back into their space capsules, which were a few meters away from their storage area.
"From now on we will move forward quickly. I'll give us a maximum of two days to conquer the planet, nothing more," Vegeta said into the microphone and crossed his arms over his chest as the hatch of his ship closed.
