Later they meet a little fox demon who first takes the jewel splinters from them, but gives them back after they have defeated the Thunder Brothers.Shippou joins the group.

After the small group are looking for the shikon no Tama again, they meet Miroku, a monk. He decides to take the already collected splinters from Kagome, but immediately takes the whole Kagome with him. Inuyasha isn't happy that Miroku is taking Kagome with her. But then says that he was only worried about the shards of jewels. Miroku flees. The others follow him when Kagome says he stole the jewel shards. You finally find him again in a village. Inuyasha attacks Miroku but is almost sucked in by Miroku's Kazaana. But Kagome can prevent this by jumping in between. They talk to each other, and in doing so they find out that Kazaana is a curse of Naraku. To break this curse Miroku has to kill him otherwise he will eventually be sucked into his black hole himself.

Miroku and the others go different ways again. Inuyasha and Co. meet a painter who can paint real demons out of pictures.And as luck would have it, they meet Miroku again and fight the painter. Now, after defeating the painter, Miroku also decides to join the group and look for the splinters together.

They have more and more splinters together. While they are still searching, a demon hunter, her little brother and the strongest men in her village fight a demon. Suddenly Kohaku starts killing all the men in his village. He attacks Sango and seriously wounds her. Sango realizes that Kohaku is being controlled by someone else. He comes to and is shot, Sango collapses. When she wakes up, someone tells her that Inuyasha has attacked her village. She immediately sets out to find the dead of her family and friends
to avenge. Sango reaches their village and attacks Inuyasha, but loses. They explain to Sango that Naraku set them up. Naraku is now attacking. Inuyasha can defeat him, but it turns out that it was just a doll that looked like Naraku.Sango also decides to join the group. They fight against many demons, against Kagura and against other descendants who created Naraku.
