knocked over the vase. Purring, she caressed Kai between the legs.Tala immediately stormed out of his room and calmed Kai down. When he was alone with C'est again, he talked to his little cat.
"You know, C'est," he began quietly, "Ray is dead, and it will always be like that. I must be clear about that."
The little one jumped and landed on Kai's lap. Satisfied, she looked at him and let herself be scratched behind her ear, which made her start to purr loudly.
And for the first time Kai felt that he was being understood.
