I recognized Ran's voice clearly, but I couldn't understand what they were talking about. Before I could understand anything, I could hear the bang and the window that broke. The order could not be clearly assigned. My heart skipped a few beats.Was that what I suspected? Had a shot just been fired? No, it couldn't be, could it? I forgot all caution and ran in the kitchen. The inspector was lying there, with a large, badly bleeding wound in his chest ... It really was a shot. Where was Ran? I quickly glanced around the kitchen to the broken window. There was no trace of Ran to be seen. "Inspector Megure", I was with him quickly. I had seen something like that coming ... I just didn't want to admit it. "Shinichi .....", the inspector's breath was quick and faltering. "Inspector Megure, you have to stay calm, I'll get help right away," I was about to go on when the inspector grabbed my arm. "Ran ... That was Ran ...", then he went completely limp. I sank to the floor next to him. Slowly the others joined them, Heiji, Kogoro and Kazuha were now standing in the door of the kitchen and looked horrified at the inspector and me.What did the inspector want to tell me ..... Had Ran killed the inspector .... My eyes were now on the broken glass ..... Had Ran fled? I couldn't explain the matter to myself any other way ... But something bothered me.
