Fanfic: Die Männer der Mrs H.

shitty case like that!” Inuyasha skilfully turned off his partner's ranting and fixed his brooding gaze on the path under his feet. The fact was that he himself wasn't exactly happy with the case. Over the past two days they had done various inquiries into the victim, a certain Houjo Shikouta, but they lacked results. A young lawyer from better backgrounds, no previous convictions, no files with the police, nothing. He seemed to have been rather inconspicuous and friendly, had a wide circle of friends in the upper classes, a family not far from Tokyo and - of course - his fiancée. Kagome Higurashi. Inuyasha frowned. According to the testimony of those who had already been questioned by the homicide squad, the victim had no enemies. Enemies were possible, of course, after all, he had been a lawyer, but these were all vague assumptions. All in all, it came down to the woman. There was no other way he could explain it; they would have to deal with it a little longer, also in relation to the case in Osaka three years ago - perhaps they would get some pointers there on how to solve this case. And that was exactly why they were here now.

They had left the busier part of Tokyo and were now in a quiet area near the outskirts. The wide streets and small parks were damp and deserted, and the houses with their gardens seemed to duck from the incoming rain.Inuyasha continued to ignore the seemingly endless scolding of his partner and stopped in front of a tall, weathered archway. "Graveyard" was carved deep in the dark stone, demanding respect and respect for the deceased. He shuddered involuntarily and pulled the collar of his coat tighter as he looked up at the arch that loomed dark and eerie into the gray sky. He noticed how Miroku had also become silent and together they stood in front of the cemetery gate in silence for a while. It had started to drizzle and the moisture was slowly seeping into their hair and jackets. Finally Inuyasha broke the silence by slowly opening the cold heavy iron gate and entering the cemetery. The grass there was brown and withered, the trees almost bare, their brown leaves soaked on the damp, cold earth, and the wind pulled cold through the complex and made the bare branches rattle. Up on a small hill you could see a crowd of black-clad people against the heavy gray clouds that clustered around a fresh grave. With a suppressed sigh, Inuyasha set off in that direction, Miroku at his side.

"We are here today to say goodbye ..." The priest's voice echoed loudly and definitively - although spoken gently - through the hollow silence of the cemetery, only interrupted by the occasional sobbing of the mourners. Miroku and Inuyasha stopped at the edge of the small mourning party and listened respectfully to the priest's words while they looked around unobtrusively under lowered lids. There weren't many guests, probably just the closest circle of the deceased. The plump woman who sobbed and clung to the arm of the man next to her was probably the mother, the man the father. Then there were relatives and friends with pale faces or eyes reddened with tears. A little girl had buried her face on the black pant leg of her father, who stroked his hair with a trembling hand in an attempt to comfort her. Inuyasha's eyes finally landed on the black-veiled figure of a woman who was standing alone in front of the grave, a little apart from the others. Then that was the fiancée. He couldn't see her face because it was covered by the black veil on her hat and her dark hair, but he saw very well how thin white hands clenched desperately around the fine handkerchief and her narrow shoulders were shaken by broken sobs.

"She looks so lost ..." Miroku whispered next to him, barely audible. The words were more likely to be addressed to himself than to him, but Inuyasha couldn't help but quietly agree with him. It was a heartbreaking sight to see her slumped in mourning for her dead fiancé. She looked so ... small and vulnerable in front of the huge masses of clouds that piled up ominously and black behind her, while the fine rain slowly soaked her clothes. Inuyasha couldn't help but keep looking at her. Could someone like that really commit murder? And what about someone who had obviously been so close to him?He shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts and let his gaze wander over the other mourners, but his eyes soon fixed involuntarily on the woman again. What was it about her?

As if she had heard his thoughts, she lifted her head a little at that moment, and he sucked in his breath in surprise as her eyes bored directly into his. They were flushed from crying and glistened damp from their tears, but the gaze that held his was hard with suspiciously narrowed eyes. Their eyes bored into each other for only a few moments, a silent test of strength with expressionless faces before she lowered her head again and the black veil fell back into place, covering her face again.

Inuyasha stared at her under lowered lids, confused and suspicious, but for the rest of the ceremony she kept her head bowed respectfully and completely ignored his and Miroku's presence. When the ceremony was over and the relatives of the dead man laid flowers on the fresh grave, the two investigators broke away from the company and turned to the exit of the cemetery. At the gate Inuyasha turned around again, but all he saw was a grieving black-clad woman kneeling crying at the final resting place of her lover, small and fragile in front of the looming storm clouds. With a shudder, he pulled the long cloak tighter around his body when the sky finally opened its locks and the rain broke.

A crow croaked somewhere.

A / N: How did you like it? Kagome a murderer, uhhh! * g * Or what do you think? * excitedly look * I actually wanted to wait until I started with the 2nd chapter before publishing the story, but it's out now! Well * shrug your shoulders in French style *

Yeah, you MAY also write clerks ... * wink * Do you have any tips for me on how I can improve my fic?I think the more detailed descriptions of the characters (clothing, appearance, etc.) will come in the next chapter. I'm just not quite sure what Inu should look like ... * brooding * can't decide * sigh *

Oh yes, if the surname of the head of department sounds familiar to you (probably not), that is the name of the illustrator of Yami no Matsuei! I kind of had to think about it so much while writing ... The other names are fictitious.

Well, bye for today!
