Chapter: Demon?

"Still, demons ... what should I mean by that?" Sayuri muttered to himself. “You could have told me more precisely!” Sayuri ran deeper and deeper into the forest. “And what does a demon look like?” She came to a clearing and stopped. In the middle there was a huge tree, everything looked so harmonious. The fog, too, had cleared. "Because I should take care of myself in the forest, nothing can happen to me here!" Sayuri persuaded himself and looked at two butterflies. Suddenly she saw a black shadow next to her.
The shadow was large and stately, and Sayuri feared the worst. She turned around quickly.
But she couldn't see anything, she was looking straight into the sun. "Who are you?" she asked bravely and the unknown now positioned itself directly in front of Sayuri so that it could recognize him.
Sayuri saw a boy. Tall, slim and with wonderful, long, brown hair.
"My name is Toshi. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."His voice sounded wonderful." Nothing happened. My name is Sayuri. "She said with relief, she was glad she hadn't met a demon.
The boy named Toshi was wearing a blue kimono and was sitting on the grass. Sayuri did the same. "I've never seen you here before, where are you from?" Toshi asked and Sayuri wasn't sure what to answer: "Well, I'm from a nearby village ... And you?"
"Oh, I wander around here and there." He waved off with a laugh. Sayuri was a bit shy to look Toshi in the face and instead looked at the earth. "
"What are you doing here? This is a dangerous forest! Evil demons live here, you should know that!" he rebuked. "If something happens, you have to protect me" Sayuri said it naturally.
"And what if I don't feel like it ?!" Toshi said annoyed, he only knew this girl for 5 minutes and should he take on the protective role now?Sayuri didn't say anything.
"Now please don't be offended, I just wanted to point it out to you!"
"How do I know a demon?" her voice was expressionless. Toshi looked at her in disbelief. "You have never seen a demon before?"
Sayuri shook her head.
"Well then, very simple. Demons are animals. Very few can speak or even transform themselves into other living beings. There are many good and many bad demons, so be vigilant!" he said with a smile.
"Hm ... You look like a person too ... But I think you really are." Sayuri laughed loudly, Toshi laughed too, although there was something mysterious about his look.
Only now did Sayuri notice how late it was.
"I'm sorry Toshi, but I have to go back to the village. Can we meet again tomorrow?" she got up.
"Sure, of course!" Toshi grinned, but stayed seated.
Sayuri ran as fast as she could back to the village, where Kaya was already waiting for her. "Man, girl, where have you been all this time?I was worried! "Kaya grumbled as Sayuri entered the house." Hey! I also have a name! "Said Sayuri, offended." I beg your pardon, Sayuri. Where have you been?"
Kaya was cooking something to eat.
“I was in the forest,” she replied dismissively and sat down.
"In the forest ?! I told you, there are evil demons living there!"
"Don't worry. I met a boy, he's really nice. His name is Toshi." Sayuri enthused, while Kaya paused at the name.
"Toshi, do you say?"
Sayuri looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"Yes. When is the meal finally ready?"
Kaya looked thoughtful. "And what does this Toshi look like?"
Sayuri grinned.
"He has long, brown hair and is wearing a blue kimono. We'll meet again tomorrow!"
Kaya said nothing more about it.
After eating, they went to sleep. But Sayuri woke up in the middle of the night. Kaya was gone. She walked cautiously out of the house, the lights were only on in one hut and many voices came outside.Suddenly a farmer came out and saw Sayuri. "What are you doing here ?!"
"I can not sleep..."
The farmer wasn't looking directly at her, his eyes were fixed on something that was behind Sayuri.
"ATTENTION! WE ARE ATTACKED!" he shouted, his eyes wide open, and ran into his house.
Startled, Sayuri turned around, but she only saw a black shadow that darted around her. Kaya came rushing towards her. "Quick! Go into the house, you are safest there!" Sayuri ran into the house and hid there. Outside the peasants gathered with their weapons.
Kaya was at the head. Sayuri prayed that everything would turn out well.
"Over there! Over there he is!"
Then all she heard was the screams of women and children and the peasants fighting something.

"Sayuri! Sayuri, finally wake up!"
Sayuri slowly opened her eyes and saw Kaya. "What about tonight? Did everyone survive?" now she was wide awake.
"Yes, everyone is fine, we were able to chase the demon away. But he'll definitely come back. "Said Kaya worried.
"You slept a long time, it's already noon!"
"What ?! Already noon ?! I'm sorry, but I have to go!" No sooner had Sayuri finished the sentence than she stormed out of the house and Kaya couldn't stop her. Sayuri went to the same clearing in the forest as yesterday when she first met Toshi. There she waited. Minutes after minutes passed, but then a branch cracked. She looked around frantically. Nobody was in sight.
"Who's there?"
No Answer.
"Toshi, is it you ?!"
No Answer.
Nothing moved, only the wind moved the treetops.
"It's no fun! Show yourself!" Sayuri yelled angrily. Suddenly someone appeared behind her. The figure held her tight, Sayuri couldn't defend herself.
"Help! Who are you ?! Let go of me!" the figure did not answer, but two more stood in front of it. They were wrapped in black coats.
"You're the girl who got lost in our world, aren't you?" asked the figure standing directly in front of her in a threatening voice. The other one, Sayuri was holding, let go of her and threw her on the floor. Now she was surrounded by them. The leader took a few steps towards them. He drew his sword and held it to Sayuri's throat.
"What do you want here?" he asked, but she couldn't answer. She was way too scared.
"Are you deaf?!" he shouted and one of his assistants kicked Sayuri in the stomach area.
"Please ... leave me alone! I haven't done anything to you!" Sayuri pleaded, but the leader just laughed.
"It's sooo much fun ..." He slowly stroked her cheek with the tip of his sword.
"Are you scared? Say your last prayer before we send you to the afterlife!"
Sayuri was close to tears, why doesn’t anyone come and rush to her aid?
The leader made a sign and his assistants also drew their swords.
"HELP!!!!" Sayuri shouted with all her might.
"Nice prayer ... Well then, goodbye!" he laughed and held his sword in the air. When he struck, Toshi appeared in front of Sayuri at the right moment and fended off the blow with his sword.
"Leave her alone!" he threatened, but the leader hardly cared.
"A watchdog ... how cute! But he won't be of much use to you!" the leader vanished into thin air.
"Come on, find me!" his voice seemed to echo through the whole forest. Toshi put his sword on the floor and tore the cloaks from the assistants.
The bodies turned to dust.
"I thought so!" Toshi muttered while Sayuri didn't understand anything.
"Come on! Show yourself, coward!"
The leader suddenly appeared in front of Toshi.
"I'm here!"
Toshi picked up his sword again and rammed it into the leader's chest so quickly that he didn't have time to leave.
The body turned to dust.
"Toshi! I'm so grateful to you!" Sayuri almost jumped on Toshi's neck for joy.
"Oh, that was a matter of course!" he smiled sheepishly.
"SAYURI!"Suddenly, in front of Sayuri and Toshi, Kaya stood with a horde of farmers.
"Get off this monster now!"
Sayuri didn't understand.
"Why ?! This is Toshi and just saved my life!"
"You don't understand, please come here!"
Sayuri stayed with Toshi.
"Toshi is a demon!" shouted Kaya and the time stood still for Sayuri.
Should your savior be a demon?
“Toshi is human!” Sayuri didn't want to believe it, it wasn't possible that Toshi was a demon.
"Take a look at him!"
Sayuri looked at Toshi.
She was really looking at him for the first time.
