Chapter 3 A futile search!

The next morning, Kagome was the first to wake up, warm rays of sun touching her face through the window. Inuyasha still had her in her arms. She was more than happy - she had neither dreamed nor was he gone. It was just nice to be in his strong arms. She wanted to enjoy it a little longer. Unfortunately this was not possible! The others would be waiting for them at the well, in the era of the warlike states.

During this he resolutely pulled Kagome back down, he didn't want to leave this cozy realm (her bed) with her yet. He sighed in satisfaction as he buried his nose in her soft hair. But the half-demon knew Kagome was right - they really should go back.

Kagome had to control himself not to give in to Inuyasha's tender desire. She felt his arms around her and heard his heart beating in his chest next to her ear.Knowing that neither her loving Hanyou next to her nor she wanted to leave. But it wouldn't be fair to the others if they just stayed in bed with her like that. Not only YOU wanted to find Naraku, Miroku and Sango were after him too.

"We really have to, even if I would really like to lie here with you a little longer! What do you think if I make us a nice breakfast before we go?" she asked, breaking away from Inuyasha to persuade him.
"Mhhh, you are right, we really have to, but I still have no objection to breakfast!" he grinned cheekily and winked at her.

Over breakfast they considered whether and how they should explain to the others what happened to them last night. After a moment they agreed. "It is better if NO ONE knows! For everyone's health." Both said and it was decided. Otherwise it would be too dangerous, their opponents would try to play their feelings against them.Shortly after breakfast, Kagome had new supplies packed into her backpack and they went to the well and jumped in. Fortunately, Sango, Miroku and Shippo were still with Kaede. Nobody noticed that Inuyasha had been to Kagome's and they came back together. * Didn't anyone really notice anything? * thought the Hanyou, because he had the feeling he was taking that strange smell again, which he couldn't really interpret.

They picked up the others from Kaede and after a short goodbye we went on. First a little aimlessly to the north. They had heard rumors that a youkai with great powers was supposed to be up there. A few hours after leaving the village, Kagome felt something too. Unfortunately she couldn't make out exactly where the splinter was.

After a while, the group saw a village. It seemed like a good idea to inquire there. But there was no point, no one in the village could give them a clue.So they went on.

It was getting late in the afternoon and the group came through a forest. They'd been around a lot in the past few years, but they'd never been here before. To the delight of the two girls, they found a hot spring in a small clearing. Miroku and Inuyasha wanted to go on, but it was pointless to mess with the women, as soon as it came to bathing, they had lost. So this is where their night camp should be set up.

After dinner, Sango, Shippo, and Kagome went to the spring to relax. It also started very funny: Sango told Kagome how Miroku had desperately tried to find a woman for himself the previous evening and with his sayings had really caught a slap in the face every time. They both laughed a lot and loudly about it ... (It was just amusing!)

"Kagome what are you doing?" Sango asked suddenly more than astonished when she saw her friend jump up, quickly throw on her clothes and run away.But she got no answer. She quickly sent Shippo to Miroku and Inuyasha to get them and started to put on her clothes to follow Kagome.

That evening, Inuyasha took special care that Miroku did not go to tension. On Miroku's first try, he only missed one.
"Dare to go to the forest to relax and you will experience hell!" uttered the hanyou on the monk's second attempt. This looked at him almost speechless.
"Why, I just want to get some new wood for the fire tonight?" he uttered innocently and with clear, unsuspecting eyes. If Inuyasha hadn't known Miroku very well, he would have fallen for it!
Now Inuyasha was getting more serious. "We almost all have splinters and the next fights that we have to contend will probably get harder and harder and if you are then not quite ready for action, nobody can take you into consideration!" His arguments are true, but he knew that Miroku was the highest a black eye or a wonderful bright red handprint on the cheek.But of course he didn't want Kagome stringed.

Suddenly they heard a loud rustling in the bushes and Shippo rushed out, panting heavily. "You ... you have to come ... quickly! Kagome ... has gone ... ran!" The two were immediately alarmed. Sango had lost track of Kagome. Inuyasha and Miroku arrived behind her. "What happened?" pleas e ask your question. Sango quickly explained what happened: "We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the hot spring. Abruptly, Kagome jumped up, looked around briefly, put on her clothes and was already gone. In a brief moment, in which the Hanyou closed his eyes to check where Kagome's scent was coming from, he heard the voice from his dream again:“She needs your help! Hurry up!” The voice came from the direction in which Kagome's scent was growing stronger. Now Kagome went up to the little one, she couldn't take her eyes off him once. She felt as if she was being drawn to something ... Sango, Inuyasha and Miroku came crashing out of the undergrowth and saw the two of them. Kagome walked closer and closer to the little one.
"Kagome, don't get any closer to him!" shouted Sango. She was not heard, the girl was in a trance. She knelt in front of him on the ground, wanted to take him in her arms and remove the chain with the splinter from his neck.

Everyone saw with horror what was happening there. When Kagome touched the little one, he made an ugly grimace and began to scream with all his might. His barely noticeable muscles under ragged fabrics tightened and he began to grow - first his hands and arms, terribly long claws disfigured his hands, veins swelled visibly under the skin, then the rest of his small body grew.At that moment, Kagome came to from her trance. She was frozen by what was going on in front of her. Her eyes were wide with shock. The others just watched this little one start to grow. The little one grew into a great demon. He bared his teeth and tried to grab Kagome. At that moment, Inuyasha leapt away from him, just in time. When he had her a little distance away from the gift, he asked her: "Are you okay? What happened?" Kagome didn't know and he didn't have the time to dig into it either.

"Kagome is safe", stated Miroku and went after the demon. But his attacks had no effect whatsoever. Now Sango tried. She hurled her hiraikotsu and hit. A scream could be heard.Inuyasha came back. But before he could attack, the demon shrank back to the size in which Kagome had found him.
"Coward!" Inuyasha shouted with a nasty grin on her face. The little one, on the other hand, just looked at him big and with two short jumps he was gone into the bushes. Inuyasha tried to follow him. Like the day before, when Kagome didn't know where to look for the splinter, he couldn't follow the little one either.

Kagome watched from where Inuyasha had put her. She didn't understand what had happened. Normally she would have waited and set off with the others! But today? She didn't know why she followed her feeling alone. Somehow she
