Kagome woke up early that morning. It didn't seem light for too long, because it was still cool, but where she was awake, she could stay awake. She ate a little more before leaving the hut. Nobody but Kagome seemed awake. She stood in front of her hut for a moment and looked up at the sky before checking on her friends. Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara were still sleeping in their huts. Kagome went to Inuyasha’s sleeping quarters and noticed that he was not there. "He's probably wandering around somewhere again ..." she thought to herself. She looked around and then decided to take a walk in the woods. But Kagome paid no heed to the path she was taking, and so after a few minutes ended up at the well. It was gradually getting warmer and life in the forest was slowly awakening. Kagome sat down under one of the trees when she heard a noise. Something seemed to be moving in the treetop between the leaves. She looked up and noticed something red, which also seemed to be responsible for the noise. “Inuyasha? “Kagome asked hesitantly. "Oh it's you, Kagome .." came from above and Inuyasha jumped down. "What brings you here? “Kagome wanted to know and looked at Inuyasha questioningly. "Oh nothing ..." he just said and sat down next to Kagome. "And what are you looking for here? "-" I just wanted to go for a walk to make up the time, because besides us all are still sleeping .. I also thought a little bit .. "answered Kagome and looked up lost in thought.“What's the matter, Kagome? “Inuyasha asked worried. "Nothing, nothing ... I'm just thinking ..." said Kagome with a smile. At that moment Inuyasha jumped up again and listened carefully. "What's happening? “Kagome had also jumped up and looked at Inuyasha in alarm. "Demons ..." he replied curtly. Kagome picked up her bow, which she had taken with her as a precaution, as she had been attacked by demons several times lately, from the ground and prepared for the attack. "How many are there? " she asked. “Not many, it'll be a breeze to get them done. “Was the answer. “Does anyone have a shard of jewels? “-“ No, as far as I can not see. “The demons came closer. "Let's go! “Inuyasha shouted us into the fight. Kagome shot her arrows deliberately, always careful not to hit Inuyasha but still hit as many demons as possible.Nobody noticed how a few demons broke away from the group and attacked Kagome from behind. The attack hit her with full force and she fell to the ground. Inuyasha had noticed and was able to prevent another attack by the demons on Kagome. They attacked from all sides and he had his hands full keeping the demons away from Kagome.
After a while the last demon fell to the ground. “Are you still okay, Kagome? “Inuyasha asked and looked at her. "Yes everything is okay. My arm just hurts a bit, but that's not bad. " She looked around. "Was that all? “She wanted to know. “Yes, I haven't seen anything else. Better go back to the others. Can you walk? "Suggested Inuyasha. "It is okay. “Kagome got up.
They made their way back. After about 10 minutes, Kagome suddenly stopped. Inuyasha looked at her questioningly, “Is what? ". Kagome shook his head.“No, it's nothing, it just occurred to me that I left my bow. I'll go back quickly and get him. You can go ahead, I'll be right there. “With that, Kagome turned and disappeared back into the trees. "Well, you notice that early ..." Inuyasha muttered, while he continued walking, as Kagome had told him. Kagome ran back the way they had come. She took her time; she was in no hurry. Kagome thought along the way. ’Why did he defend me with all his might? Was he going to play the great protector to show off? No .. he wouldn't do that ... but ... why did he do it then? Does he feel more for me than he wants to admit? ... ’Kagome had thought about it for a while, and finally decided to ask Inuyasha when the next opportunity arose. She went on without realizing that the sting on her leg was not from a bush or something like that, as she suspected, but from a small, scorpion-like demon that had pursued her for a short distance. After a few minutes she saw a shimmer of red through the trees. She approached cautiously, and then realized that it was Inuyasha. Kagome stopped, puzzled. Inuyasha wasn't alone. She scurried from tree to tree, always careful not to make any tell-tale noise or be seen. When she got close enough, she carefully looked past a tree. She almost jumped up, but was able to catch herself at the last moment. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Immediately by Inuyasha was Kikyo. Kagome stayed in hiding for a few moments, watching them both. She couldn't understand what they were saying, but she didn't care now either. Carefully, Kagome got up and stepped out of her hiding place. She had to hold on to a tree to keep from falling. The little demon's poison seemed to be taking effect. "So that's it ..." Kagome said softly, but still loud enough for Inuyasha to hear. He looked up and saw Kagome."Kagome ..." he said slowly but surprised. Kagome looked at him. No one turned away from the other. Kikyo took a few steps back and turned to go, but Inuyasha stopped her. Now it was Kagome who turned around, took one last look at Inuyasha and Kikyo, and started walking. Slowly at first, but faster with every step. Tears ran down her face. Inuyasha looked around frantically. Now he had to make a decision for better or for worse. Kikyo, or Kagome. He didn't know what to do, the only thing he knew was that he didn't have much time to think about it. If he chose Kikyo, he would drive Kagome out of here, he knew that. She would never go back to that era. But if he chose Kagome, Kikyo would only hate him even more. No matter how he twisted it, he decided on one, he'd lost the other. Inuyasha stood indecisive and helpless. Then he turned to the side, looked at Kikyo over his shoulder, and said softly, "I'm sorry ...". With that, he turned in the direction Kagome had run and ran after him as fast as he could. Hopefully it's not too late ... I have to make it ... I have to catch up with her, I have to go to Kagome! ’He didn't know where he was going, but he knew it was the right way. In fact, it was the right way, and it wasn't too late either. Kagome was on the floor at the end of her tether when Inuyasha spotted her. He ran to her immediately. “Kagome, what is it? Are you all right? He asked quickly and out of breath. "Inu..yasha ..." Kagome couldn't get out more until she collapsed completely. He picked her up and ran through the woods with her in his arms. "Hold on, Kagome, please hold on! Inuyasha kept mumbling to herself. Kagome was passed out and her breathing had become a little calmer and weaker. After a few minutes they arrived at the huts. Shippo was standing in front of one of the huts and was about to go inside when he noticed Inuyasha. “Inuyasha! What happened then? He asked curiously. "Quick, tell me where Kaede is! “Inuyasha shouted to Shippo before he had even reached the huts. Shippo indicated one of the huts. “Over there, I think. “Inuyasha thanked the little fox demon in passing and hurried to the hut Shippo had indicated. Little Kitsune just looked after Inuyasha in amazement, but didn't care. Inuyasha entered the hut. Kaede was really there. He carefully put Kagome down and turned to Kaede. "What happened? “Kaede asked alarmed. "I don't know .. I was in the forest and ... oh that doesn't matter, I just wasn't at Kagome's, but after a few moments I ran after her and found her like this .. You have to help her!He answered spontaneously. “I want to hear the whole story all over again later. But first we have to take care of Kagome. “Kaede looked at Kagome carefully, then thought about it for a few seconds. "Looks like she was bitten by a small demon .." she finally said to Inuyasha, who was standing next to her, restless and distraught. "Is it very bad? “He wanted to know right away. He was worried about Kagome and was clearly excited. "No. Fortunately, it was a small and relatively harmless demon. She should be back on her feet in a day or two. “Answered Kaede. Inuyasha sighed in relief. “So you don't need to worry about her any longer. It just looks worse than it is. “She just said smiling and left the hut. "I don't do that either .." Inuyasha muttered afterwards. “But that didn't look like it to me. “Kaede turned around and disappeared into one of the other huts.Inuyasha sat next to Kagome and took her hand. It was freezing. He looked down from her face and was a little startled. He hadn't paid attention to how sick Kagome looked. Her breath was shallow, but it was getting stronger. That calmed Inuyasha a little.
After a few minutes the others came into the hut, but Inuyasha did not notice them and Kagome was still asleep. Sango saw Inuyasha sitting beside Kagome, lost in thought, while he kept looking at her and holding her hand. Sango smiled and gestured for the others to be quiet, because she neither wanted to wake Kagome, nor did she want to disturb Inuyasha. So everyone left the hut as soon as they had entered it.
After a few hours, Inuyasha left the hut to have a bite to eat. He met the rest of the group outside the huts. They talked quietly to each other, obviously so as not to wake Kagome up and not to disturb Inuyasha. But when they saw Inuyasha approaching them, they fell silent and cast worried looks at him.“How is Kagome? “Miroku asked carefully. “A little better, she's sleeping. “Inuyasha didn't want to talk much. He was still worried about Kagome, but he didn't want any of the others to notice. As best he could, he avoided saying a word about Kagome. He was very
