So that's another story that popped out of my sick brain. First of all to the title. It's raining pretty hard here at the moment - that's what gave me the idea for this story.
Originally written as a one-shot, it has now become a multi-part.

Enclosed, of course I will continue to write on my other multi-part articles, but as crazy as it may sound, I needed a change again (from one of the stories). So then

Have fun

Fang aka Saraton aka ....

One more small note in the margin: # # this marks the thoughts of the characters and () is represented in Chinese.

Rainy season - part 1

Lightning flashed over Nerima and the thunder echoed over the houses.
It had been raining for three days now and it didn't seem to end.Ryoga Hibiki, who had taken refuge under an old shrine, sighed when his stomach growl reminded him that he hadn't eaten for the same period of time.
Before this storm began, he was able to flee here. But that was about it.
"Before that damn rain gets me back into ..." Ryoga shivered briefly at the thought of transforming himself into P-chan again.
"That damn Yusenko curse ...!" muttered the prodigal boy bitterly.
His gaze wandered to his things and stopped on the large bamboo umbrella that he always carried with him. After his last fight with Ranma, however, he had suffered quite a lot and several large holes made him absolutely useless.
He sighed again and propped his head on his arms.
"I'm damned," Ryoga stated sourly.

Shampoo ran. The rain had turned her into her cat shape, which didn't make the Amazon really happy. A customer had ordered several servings of food that he wanted to have delivered despite the weather. So she armed herself with an umbrella and set off. The delivery had brought Shampoo to its destination, but then a gust of wind tore the umbrella from her hand.
Now she was running for her life. In cat form she was much weaker and more vulnerable and the weather was downright grueling at the moment. Then she saw the old shrine and hurried towards it. When Shampoo had taken refuge under the roof of the sanctuary, she plopped down on the floor and moaned in relief. Suddenly a hand grabbed her neck and lifted her up.
A familiar figure looked puzzled at the cat.
"Shampoo?" Ryoga asked uncertainly.

"Ayah, what are prodigal boys doing here?" Shampoo asked as she pulled on one of his sweaters. Ryoga, who had turned his back on her, gave a bitter laugh. He pointed outside where it was still raining.
"I don't need to tell you that," said the prodigal boy with a touch of sarcasm. The Amazon nodded and looked at the kettle with warm water that he had put down. Some chipped wood from the shrine had been used as fire material.
"Remember shampoo," she said to him gently. The Amazon knew how sensitive Ryoga was to his Yusenko curse. "How long have you been here?" she tried to steer the subject in a different direction.
"For three days," he replied absently, "since it started raining."
The amazon opened her eyes and stared at him, puzzled.
"Lost boy here three days?" she shook her head in disbelief, "what prodigal eaten?"
The growl of his stomach gave her the answer and Shampoo shook his head again.
(Crazy boy), she said in her native language.
(Thanks for the compliment) Ryoga replied in the same dialect.
The Amazon was flabbergasted.
(Since when...?)
(... I speak your language?), he now finished her sentence, clearly amused.
(I've learned a lot on my travels. The rest was taught to me by an old man whom I accompanied for a while), the prodigal boy continued and shrugged.
(In my family, most of them speak several languages, as we often travel to different corners of the world) The Hibikis' poor sense of direction was notorious.
Shampoo eyed him with a lot more respect.
(Why didn't you ever say anything? Even great-grandmother doesn't know about it) she asked Ryoga. The wolfish grinned.
(Right, you know people talk more openly when they think you don't understand them.)
Her cheeks flushed as Shampoo thought of how many times she had spoken badly of the lost boy. His grin grew stronger, as if he had guessed her thoughts.
(I never took offense if you worry about it), he said with a mocking tone in his voice and looked at the embarrassed Amazon friendly.
She bowed her head.
(I'm sorry, you have to believe me.)Ryoga nodded. (I do.)
He looked at the kettle with steaming water and sighed.
His stomach growled harder. Shampoo looked at him and smiled.
(Ryoga), surprised he looked at the girl because she had never used his real name.
(I have an idea) she continued with a conspiratorial smile.

(I don't know ...) Not very convinced, Ryoga watched the amazon as she hid his backpack in an alcove under the shrine. She nodded encouragingly to him.
(Are you ready?) The Amazon wanted to know from him. He thought of what she had suggested to him.
(We can't wait for the rain to stop, it can take another three days and you haven't eaten for a long time), Shampoo had calmly stated and asked the lost boy to accompany her to the Cat Cafe.
(There we transform ourselves back and you stay there until the rain is over. Then we pick up your things again, that would be best) when she was still telling him about the already finished, pre-cooked dishes, he finally gave up and agreed. But now he had some doubts as the weather was visibly worsening. Shampoo nudged him lightly.
(Are you ready? I asked) the girl asked the question again.
Ryoga grimaced.
(I will have to be), he replied, slightly sullen.
(Well, then we should), said the Amazon firmly and pulled him out into the rain.
