Chapter 2: Tears and a Broken Heart

Inuyasha ran restlessly through the forest. What should he do now? Should he go back to the others? No. If he went back he would have to endure those stupid questions again. But where else should he go? He didn't have anyone but them.
Again he was painfully aware of how alone he actually was. But he knew that he could be happy to have made friends at all. And yes, he was really lucky because they were really very good friends. He couldn't imagine better.
While he was walking through the forest, so absorbed in his thoughts, he did not notice that a person was running after him and had almost caught up with him.However, she stayed some distance behind him, as she had already noticed that he was apparently superior and therefore did not want to disturb him. In addition, she did not dare to go to him yet.
They walked like that for a while and Inuyasha still didn't notice that a figure was chasing him. But then suddenly he stopped.
"What more do you want?"
He turned to his pursuer and looked into his brown eyes. But this did not answer. Instead, he just looked him uncertainly in the eye.
"Kagome, tell me ... why are you following me? Are you trying to make fun of me? Hurt me?"
There was bitterness in his voice. But Kagome just stood there and looked at him. Then she lowered her head and began to speak in a low voice.
"I'm sorry for what I just said. I didn't mean it."
"Not meant that ?!"
He yelled at her indignantly and angrily.
"Do you actually know what you said ?! I never thought to hear that out of your mouth!Had Miroku or Sango said it, I wouldn't have cared! But you..!"
He stopped. Kagome was still looking at the floor.
"What's the matter, has it left you speechless ?! Come on, offend me! You seem to be having so much fun! Go on, say what you think of me! Say that you hate me! Tell me that you are me for a useless hanyou hold who does not deserve to live, much less to be happy! "
"What are you talking about ?! That's not true at all! I would never say something like that, let alone think !!!!"
She jerked her head up. Tears slowly ran down her cheeks. As she continued, her voice was little more than a whimper.
"I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry."
She put her hands over her face and began to sob loudly.
"I'm so sorry ... so sorry ..."
Sobbing, she sank to the floor. Her shoulders began to shake.
Raindrops fell while Inuyasha looked down at the girl without saying a word.She had hurt him, but after seeing her here, so fragile and desperate, he just couldn't be angry with her anymore. Sure it still hurt, but as hard as he tried he just couldn't be angry any longer.
He walked slowly towards her and knelt in front of her. He hesitated before he put his arms gently around the girl and hugged her lightly. A moment later he felt her fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt tightly.
"Onegai. Stop crying. You know I can't stand it when you cry."
"I'm so terribly sorry ... * sob *"
"It's okay. Shhh ..."
He held her gently in his arms and rocked her like a child.
After a while she had calmed down somewhat and Inuyasha slowly let go of her.
"I think we should go back to the others."
Kagome could only nod. She still felt bad about what she hit his head.
They slowly walked back to the others together, after all they wanted to walk a long way today.Unfortunately it's not that long ... I don't know when and if I will continue to write ... I'll try ...
