Chapter: chapter 8
Cape. 8th
Seymour greeted us with the gesture of prayer and came to meet us.
He seemed really pleased that we had accepted the invitation.
I addressed my word to him, wanted to know why he had called me over.
The messenger had spoken of important matters that needed to be discussed. He looked at me in surprise when I interrupted my question. Then he smiled.
"We can talk about that in peace, my lady. Take the time to relax." he answered and was about to continue when he was interrupted again by a sharp interjection from Auron. Auron told him in an unusually sharp tone that my time would be very short due to my duty. The sooner I fulfilled it, the better it would be.
I turned and looked at Auron, unkindly. I had seldom seen him so harsh, and an hour more or less didn’t matter. I sent my most experienced Guardian a pleading look, hoping he would at least try to keep form.Auron caught him, nodded, but I noticed the spark of unease that glowed in his brown eyes, even if he tried quickly to hide them behind his dark-tinted glasses. I gave him a reassuring smile and turned back to the maester.
Seymour smiled and begged for forgiveness, although I thought I saw that this time his smile did not reach the violet eyes. Did I sense a trace of anger?
I wasn't sure, but I thought I saw a shadow of anger cross his face. If that was the case, he was back in control surprisingly quickly.
But then young Guado looked directly at me, and my suspicions vanished.
He asked me to come over and I stepped onto a slightly raised platform that formed the second part of the room. When I took the first step, lights flared under my feet. At first I was shocked because at first I assumed that the ground would break away from under me. But I didn't fall. Instead, we were all suddenly standing in a sea of stars, and it seemed as if colored pyroflies were flying around us.I had never seen anything like it before, and it seemed like I wasn't alone. I looked around as if enchanted. It all seemed so ... real.
As if you were standing in the middle of space, surrounded by stars. I reached out my hand carefully to touch one of the dancing lights, but felt nothing.
Rikku also responded in her enthusiastic way and jumped around excitedly.
Wakka rubbed the back of his head with wide eyes, a gesture so typical for him, and even Tidus, who, as a Zanarkandier, as a representative of a culture that had been past 1000 years, looked amazed.
It was moving. I sensed Seymour's presence when he stepped behind me and explained to me that these were memories taken from the Farplane, sealed forever in a sphere. I was amazed. Then the scene changed, and the environment around us seemed to melt away, to re-materialize. Formed before my eyes
The image of an almost huge city, the buildings of which rose as far as I could see.Unknown people suddenly appeared next to me, in front of me, behind me.
The city pulsed with life.
The most shocked was Tidus. With eyes wide open and mouth open, he looked around. He mouthed the word Zanarkand, and I understood it even if I couldn't hear him. This was Zanarkand ???
Seymour, still standing sideways behind me, started speaking and confirmed Tidu's suspicions. We looked around in amazement. So this was the Zanarkand that Tidus was torn from. The Zanarkand that he wanted so much to show me.
I soaked up the impressions. Zanarkand before the Machina Cities war - before SINS appeared. It was overwhelming.
A simple sentence from Seymour tore me from my amazement.
"She lived here!" he said. You ?!? Who did he mean? I looked up at him for questions, waited for a more detailed answer, but he just looked at me knowingly and then raised his head with a smile. I didn't understand his behavior.I was still waiting as the image of Zanarkand faded and a new memory materialized.
