Chapter 1: Memories

A young woman ran through a thick forest. She had long since lost her orientation. Their only guide was the cries of battle. It echoed all over the forest, making it difficult to find the direction. Her long black hair fluttered in the wind. A storm was brewing over her and soon it would start to rain.
Her mind kept drifting back to the reason for her hurry. Suddenly she stumbled. One of her swords slipped out of its scabbard and stayed a few meters in front of her. If she had only accompanied him, then she would have been with him earlier, but he had insisted that she stay at home.
When Mosuke told her about the sword and the emperor, and a little later the emperor's soldiers marched in the direction where HE had gone, she knew immediately that HE would get in trouble.
The woman was on her feet again, grabbed her sword, but held it ready because the screaming had grown louder.She came slowly into a clearing. All sorts of feelings came together in her: fear, hope and her guilty conscience came in too.
But when she saw what was going on in the clearing, her heart skipped. There he and opposite him stood the only survivor of the 50 soldiers. "Your last hour has struck!" Shouted the samurai and stormed towards his enemy. Just as he rammed his katana into his stomach, the soldier held out his spear, which immediately disappeared into the samurai. This gasped. And took a step back so that the spear came out of him again. His opponent was killed but he was seriously injured.
The woman at the edge of the forest was still there. It was only slowly coming back to reality. With a sharp cry, she dropped her sword and ran to the badly injured samurai. She lifted his head gently. He looked at her with his faithful eyes. "I told you to stay home!"He whispered in great pain." I couldn't leave you alone after Mosuke told me everything. Come on, get up, I'll take you to a doctor! ", He smiled at her:" You are so beautiful, have I ever told you how beautiful you are? "" Make that sound like you're dying now! "He just looked at her in silence." Sakura, promise me that you will continue to live no matter what happens to me! "" Stop it, come on !! You will survive, I will survive, we both belong together! "Sakura tried to bring as much conviction as possible into this one sentence. He was silent. It started to rain." I'm going to die Sakura, my time has come! "The young woman looked at her lover in horror." You mustn't say that! You will not die, you ... "The samurai had put his finger on her mouth." Shush! Promise me you'll survive "" How am I supposed to survive without you ?? "She asked tearfully. The dying man smiled."You will survive, you will get married and have many children. You will be a good wife and mother." Sakura shook her head. “Without you my life is pointless !!” “Promise me Sakura, please!” He looked at her pleadingly. Suddenly he winced. He felt his legs slowly becoming numb. An icy cold took hold of him. "You're welcome!" he repeated again. "I promise!", Sakura whispered and hugged "her" samurai. "But I will always love you!", Sakura added her last sentence. "I love you !!" the samurai whispered before closing his eyes forever. Sakura began to cry bitterly.
The rain had gotten heavier and a huge puddle formed around the two of them. Sakura's sobs grew lower. "I won't forget it! I love you too, Amidamaru!"
