Chapter: CHAPTER 1
Sitting on a hill of grass, he carefully studied the jewel, which looked like a little pink marble.
He held it in his hand and let it roll back and forth there. Again and again.
His gaze was fixed on this sphere. That little, so nondescript-looking ball that he had been looking for for so long. Or rather, the splinters of which he had been looking for so long to even put them together in their current form.
"Finally," he muttered.
A grin crossed his face as he remembered how much strength and effort the search for the Shikon shards had cost him. And now, after such a long time of searching, after all the difficulties he had had to overcome, he held it in his hand. The jewel in its original form. As it was back then, before Kagome shattered it into a thousand splinters with her arrow.
He still couldn't believe it. It was whole and whole. The Shikon no Tama.
The hanyou was torn from his thoughts when he heard a familiar voice."Inu-Yasha?"
He turned and saw Kagome. She leaned over him a little and smiled.
"I still can't quite believe it," she said and sat down on the grass next to Inu-Yasha. Her gaze also wandered to the jewel in Inu-Yasha's hand.
The hanyou looked at her and nodded. "Yes, me neither."
Carefully, Kagome held out her hand for the jewel.
Inu-Yasha followed her movement with his eyes, but didn't fend it off when Kagome took the jewel from his hand.
She held it between thumb and forefinger, held it up a little, and looked at it.
"Shikon no Tama ..." she whispered. The expression on her face suddenly changed. He grew dark and was no longer happy as usual. Her eyes were suddenly completely blank and cold. Like glass balls that you could see through.
“Kagome, are you all right?” He got up and put his hand on the girl's shoulder. Suddenly an icy cold shot through him like lightning and made him withdraw his hand.As if drawn to his feet by invisible threads, Kagome rose too and stared at Inuyasha with her blank stare.
Why is it suddenly so changed? he thought, looking at Kagome with a puzzled look.
However, it wasn't just Kagome who had suddenly changed.
The grassy hill they were both sitting on recently had disappeared. The sun, which had been so bright and warm in the sky, had also disappeared and given way to complete darkness.
It was so dark that Inuyasha couldn't even see his own hand. Only Kagome, illuminated by the light of the Shikon no Tama, was visible to him.
"Kagome, what's going on here? What the hell is going on here ?!"
His angry voice didn't reach the girl at all. His words passed her by, didn't touch her.
She closed her hand around the jewel and pressed it to her chest. "You don't deserve it ..." she whispered and took a step back.
The hanyou's ears twitched. What is she saying?
He wanted to approach Kagome. His legs, however, did not obey him. He couldn't move from the place.
Inuyasha looked down at herself. Even when he tried to move with all his might, he couldn't.
He looked up again, saw Kagome getting further and further away from him. She still held the jewel tightly in her hand.
"Kagome stay here!"; he called and mobilized all the forces his body could muster to get around. But nothing happened. He stopped dead in his tracks and the first beads of sweat formed on his forehead, which was covered by the white fringe.
"You did not become human for me ..."
The hanyou's ears twitched again. That voice ... It was suddenly no longer Kagome's voice, but it came from the girl who had almost been swallowed up in the darkness.
"Ki ... Kikyou ..." Inu-Yasha whispered.
It was no longer Kagome who held the jewel in her hand and was almost gone, but Kikyou."You have not become a person for me," she repeated, "and neither should you become one for this girl!"
With these words the figure of the girl finally disappeared into the darkness and Inu-Yasha was left alone. She took the jewel with her, it flashed through his mind. Damn she took it ...
Thoughts raced through his head. Didn't make him think clearly anymore.
Suddenly he saw something flash in the darkness. What's this? The jewel? He screwed up his eyes to see something. But when he realized what was coming at him with tremendous speed, it was already too late.
The arrow hit him in the middle of his chest and he gasped in pain. His eyes widened, lost their glow. His spirits died out and the hanyou slowly sank to the ground.
"Wi ... why ..." A wave of pain flooded him, glowing in his chest, robbing him of his mind. He lay motionless on the floor, still shrouded in pitch black darkness. The pain got worse and he felt like his chest was about to burst. With the last of his strength, he raised his hand and touched the arrow that was stuck in his chest. Kikyou's arrow ... Desperately he clutched the arrow in his hand. Blood flowed from the wound and he felt how his last strength was leaving him.
Inuyasha was grateful when he passed out, although he knew that his death would follow shortly thereafter.
The pain subsided, giving way to a feeling of floating. Slowly his eyes closed and when he pressed the air out of his mouth this time, he let the last bit of life escape from his body at the same time.
