Fanfic: Harry Potter und die Rache des Lords

Chapter: vacation

Once again it was a hot summer and it was summer vacation. But nothing happened during this vacation. The Dursleys hadn't gone on vacation. They didn't even go on trips. So they were at home the whole time and they were annoying. Dudley was often out with his gang in the evening. Most of the time he and his friends beat up some younger children or they rioted in the playground.

Harry Potter had been stuck with the Dursleys for several weeks now. A lot had changed after the last school year. Harry still felt guilty for Sirius' death. He missed his godfather very much. Since he was back in Privet Drive, he hardly ever left his room. The Dursleys mostly left Harry alone. They were even so "friendly" and brought the food to his room or put it through the cat flap of the door.

Uncle Vernon had tried many times to lure Harry out of the room, but to no avail. Harry didn't care how they scolded him or what they said to him.You don't want anything to do with wizards. The Dursleys had to learn that Harry was no longer so easily bossed around. So they gave up talking to him at all. But that should change one day.

The telephone rang. Aunt Petunia answered it.

"Yes, Dursley?" she answered in a friendly manner.
"Um, yes, this is Weasley. Is Harry there?" replied Mrs. Weasley.
"Wait a minute, I have to call first," Petunia replied with a slightly unfriendly undertone.

The aunt called for Harry, but he just said he didn't want to speak to anyone.

"Well, he says he doesn't want to see her," Petunia pointed out.
"Oh, well, then um, thank you anyway. Give him my best regards and tell him not to blame himself. See you again," said Mrs. Weasley and hung up.

Petunia hung up too. Then she went up the stairs and thundered her hand on the door.

"I'm supposed to send you greetings from a Mrs. Weasley and tell you not to blame yourself," whistled the aunt through the door of the room. But Harry didn't reply, instead Petunia only heard soft sobs and sniffles. She did something Harry didn't expect. Mrs. Dursley opened the door and stepped into the gloomy room.

The window was blacked out so that little daylight could enter the room. The school books were strewn on the floor. The clothes lay crumpled up in the suitcase that was open in front of the wardrobe. Hedwig's cage was pretty dirty.

Petunia stood in front of Harry's bed. After a while she sat down.

"What happened to make you feel so sad?" asked the aunt.

At first Harry couldn't believe his aunt was asking him such a thing. After all, she didn't care what had happened otherwise. But for the first time, she really seemed to want to have a conversation with Harry.

"Last year my godfather, Sirius Black, died and it's my fault," Harry replied after a moment.
"I can't judge because I don't know what happened. But I think you should take Mrs. Weasley's advice and not blame yourself, "advised Petunia.
"It ... it has to do with Lord Voldemort. He has returned. Last year he somehow manipulated me into thinking that Lord Voldemort was trying to kill Sirius. I went with a few friends, to save him. But it was a trap, Sirius was not tortured. Then Dumbledore and the others came to protect us from Voldemort and the Death Eaters, Sirius died. If I had practiced this stupid Occlumency, none of that would be Happened "Harry explained and started to cry.

Reluctantly, Petunia took the young wizard in her arms and gently stroked his head like a mother. The two sat like that for a long time. Harry really cried himself out. For the first time, Harry felt as safe and secure in the Dursley's house as with a mother. When Harry cried himself, he broke away from his aunt.He rubbed his eyes.

"Thanks, that was good," said Harry.

The aunt smiled at her nephew and left the room.
Harry really felt better. The grief for Sirius was still there, but still he felt a lot better than before. Finally he had someone with whom he could talk about the happenings in and around Hogwarts during the holidays.

> Maybe I should finally tidy up again and let the light into my gloomy room. I would have to clean Hedwig's cage again, thought Harry and went straight to work.

The next day should be another surprise for Harry, because it was his birthday. Aunt Petunia had baked him a cake, though Vernon and Dudley didn't approve of Petunia becoming friends with Harry. But Petunia ignored it. She wanted her nephew to celebrate a little birthday, even if it was without his friends. Petunia had even bought a few small gifts.
Harry entered the kitchen. His gaze fell on the beautifully laid table with the delicious cake. Aunt Petunia came over immediately. She congratulated Harry and asked him to sit down ...

Harry had gleefully finished off as much cake as he could manage. Now there were the presents. Even if there weren't any big presents or too many, Harry was happy about them. He unwrapped it with great pleasure. A few sweets, several pairs of new stockings, a new sweater and a new pair of pants came to light. Harry was really happy, but when he was back in his room, the grief for Sirius returned. But there was another question on Harry's mind. Why didn't he get any mail from his friends?
