Gandalf had a long way to go because he had to bring Frodo's invitation to many people. Gandalf had decided to give everyone an invitation to whom Frodo had written. No matter how far the road was, he didn't care.
First he wanted to ride to Aragorn, because he was the closest of them all. But with his horse, Schattenfell, he knew that he would go anywhere he wanted to go. The ride went pretty well and he got there quickly. Aragorn saw him from afar and was happy that he would finally see him again. Gandalf tied Shadowfur to a peg and went to Aragorn. "Hello my friend!" Said Gandalf to Aragorn. "Hello Gandalf, nice that you are here again! Do you have any special request?"
"Yes, you will laugh, I did. It's about Frodo, I should give you this invitation from him! He would like to invite all companions who had accompanied him to a big celebration! And of course you mustn't be missing Aragorn!"", Gandalf replied to Aragorn." Of course I will come, what did you think! ", answered Aragorn. And with the words Gandalf rode away. His next destination was Legolas.
So he had to go to Rivendell, where Legolas was currently staying. And Gimli knew he happened to be there too.
So Gandalf rode to Rivendell at a tremendous speed.
In between he rested for a while and then he finally arrived in Rivendell.
It didn't take long before he met Legolas and Gimli, who probably just happened to have smoked something together.
"Well, you two," said Gandalf to the dwarf and the elf.
Both answered at the same time: "Hello Gandalf, what are you doing here?" "Oh me? I would like to give you an invitation from Frodo, but as I see you have more important things to do at the moment."
The Elf shouted: "But Gandalf is not so loose give us the invitations, I would like to see Frodo again!" Gimli nodded. "Well, you two, here they are!" Said Gandalf and he gave them to them.Gimli and Legolas were happy about the invitations and of course decided to go there.
For Gandalf the mission was thus accomplished, because Frodo did not want to invite all the others, only the three and his hobbit friends.
And Gandalf was sure that Frodo could invite Merry and Pippin himself. Then Gandalf thought again of Boromir who they had lost and he mumbled: "How gladly Frodo would have invited Boromir, had he just not died, Aragorn is so sad too. Can't I do anything." Then he thought about it. He had only recently been given a new wand. So he got new sayings. "I'll ride to Gondor because I have an idea!" Said Gandalf to himself. And he rode until the moon swallowed him.
