Chapter 5: The First Days at Hogwarts
"Oh my god! What happened to you guys?" Hermione was horrified when she saw Dean, Seamus, Harry and Ron the next morning.
The four boys only found sleep in the early hours of the morning and looked accordingly.
Dean and Seamus just shrugged their shoulders and went through the portrait hole to breakfast. Harry and Ron took their friends in their arms and let themselves be comforted.
"It's about Neville ... he is ... he was ... killed by Death Eaters ... he wanted to avenge his parents." It was Ron who got the courage to tell the girls.
Ginny hugged Harry tighter, she knows he somehow blames himself for it.
After a while the girls took their friends by the hand and went into the great hall.
When the four of them sat down, Tonks came by and gave them the timetables.
"Hey guys, we all have four free hours together twice a week! That's really great!"Ginny was thrilled. She thought she had little time to spend with Harry now.
"I'm free there too!"
The four teens winced and then slowly turned to look at the speaker. Lupine grinned cheekily in their faces!
"And that means?" Hermione wasn't quite sure what to think of it.
"Well, I'm supposed to teach you this undetectable spell, that's why we have the same free hours.", Lupine talked to them like a teacher, but you could tell how much he was looking forward to these hours together.
"Oh ... um ... that's great! When do we start?" Harry had recovered somewhat. Lupine had to smile about it.
"Well, best today. Mrs. Weasley wants mail from you as soon as possible. So come to my office during your free time!"
"OK!" Came from all four.
The morning was relatively unspectacular and now the four teenagers were sitting at noon and were already looking forward to the free hours. But before…
"You tell Harry what about Quidditch now? We need another hunter." Ron said this casually between two pieces of pie.
"Um ..." Harry hadn't really thought about it yet. "I'm going to put up a notice. I haven't had the time to think about it yet. Sorry. I'll talk to Tonks ... uh Professor Tonks as soon as this comes up."
"You don't have to apologize. It just occurred to me, too. We still have a little time." So the subject was settled for Ron for now. He had only brought it up to give Harry other thoughts.
"Good. I think we should go to Remus. He's probably waiting for us." With these words, Ginny jumped up and pulled Harry with her. Ron and Hermione followed the two of them.
"There you are at last!", Lupine greeted her beaming.
"First of all, sit down, do you want a cup of tea or coffee?"
The teenagers declined with thanks."Very well," Lupine made himself comfortable in his armchair. "I don't want to keep you tortured for long. The undetectability spell is complicated and it requires a lot of concentration on your part."
The teenagers listened intently and Lupine had to smile about it.
"Well, the spell is 'Reduccio apeta' and then you have to say the name of the recipient and concentrate fully on that person. You just hold the wand over your owl. But remember, the spell only works once, that is you have to repeat it every time. "Lupine finished his remarks and the teenagers looked a bit puzzled.
"That sounds kind of easy," Ron firmly believed that the practice would be simple.
"The magic is easy, but as I said, you have to concentrate well otherwise it won't work." Lupine thought they weren't really taking it seriously.
"But how do we want to practice that?" Harry was apparently the only one who took all of this seriously."We will cast the spell on Hedwig and give one of us as a target. If the others can no longer see her, then it worked."
"Why my Hedwig? Does the person have to perform this spell as well when they answer?" Harry took it very seriously and Lupine noted this with satisfaction.
"Well Pig is too jittery, I don't think he's holding still. The school owls don't let anyone touch them with a wand in their hand. And Hedwig is smart enough to keep quiet. After all, she knows us all and she knows we want no harm to her. "
What Lupine said sounded plausible to Harry.
"And if the person wants to answer, does he have to perform the spell?" Harry was quite curious.
"As I said, the spell only works once. Every time the owl is supposed to be on its way again, it has to be covered with the spell first." Slowly Lupine didn't know what to think of Harry's behavior.
"And can that cause any damage to Hedwig?"Harry was worried.
"No. The spell is harmless. Hedwig can be cast as often as necessary with this spell. However, she should take a break when she is back from the tour. The spell also has a debilitating effect.", The four saw Lupine shocked at.
"Does that mean she can't defend herself if someone attacks her?" Ginny didn't like that at all.
"Oh no. Nothing can happen to her. Nobody can see her except for whoever the mail is intended for and whoever cast the spell. It only becomes visible when she has delivered the letter.", Lupine had apparently said the wrong thing .
The four looked at him as if he had pronounced a death sentence.
Somehow he did, after all, you never know where Snape is and everyone knows that Harry has a snow owl.
"Um ... are you all right?" Lupine didn't know what he said or did.
"Yeah, all right. Sorry, we thought we saw something."Luckily Hermione can lie so well.
“And what did you see, if I may ask?” Lupine thought it was a bit strange, did all four of them have the same hallucination? That doesn't work at all.
The four weren't sure what to answer until Harry took it easy.
"I thought I saw Sirius in his Animagus form."
That sat. Lupine looked quite dismayed and Harry regretted telling him such a fairy tale. But Lupine quickly recovered.
"Well ... now you know the principle. Harry bring Hedwig with you next time. I still have to prepare the class a bit. We'll see you tomorrow in Defense Against the Dark Arts." So Lupine dismissed the four teenagers.
When they were gone, Remus had to sit down in his chair.
'Harry had seen Sirius, what could that mean? Should he still be there?
No this can not be. And why is it so important to Harry? There has to be more to it!But what? `Remus hung behind his thoughts for a while and had a nice cup of tea.
Meanwhile the four teenagers sat by the lake and did their homework. Yes, even Harry and Ron decided to do more for school.
"Do you think it was wrong to tell Remus that we saw Sirius?" Harry might blame it.
"No. It's not really a lie either. I often have the feeling that Sirius is near me.", Ginny finally took hold of her heart and finally told them.
"Yeah, I feel the same way." Ron was glad he's not the only one.
"Now that you say it. I sometimes have the feeling to hear his barking laughter. What about you Harry?", Yes, yes Hermione again, totally curious.
"Well ..." Harry was kind of embarrassed, "I see him most of the day. Mostly as a big black dog."
"I almost thought so. After all, you loved him the most of us. But, do you think that's imagination?"Hermione was at a loss again.
"Well ..." the doorbell rang and Harry broke off in mid-sentence.
"We'll clarify that later, now we have to hurry up first." With these words Ron started running and the rest of them followed.
Fortunately, they had already taken their things with them.
The transformation class with Tonks was very interesting and fun for Harry, Ron and Hermione. Of course, the word got around that Tonks is a metamorph and that's why everyone wanted a taste.
Tonks didn’t take long to mimic Harry’s appearance. You'd think Tonks was Harry's bigger sister, the resemblance was amazing.
After this amazing performance, they first repeated the material from the last class. Tonks wanted to know how far they were and she was very amazed. Most of them, including Ron, Harry, and Hermione, did very well.
So, this hour passed pretty quickly and everyone was startled when the doorbell rang.
Harry went straight to Tonks to ask about Quidditch."Professor Tonks, I have a question." Tonks was startled when Harry spoke to her like that.
"Well Harry," she smiled at him, "if no one is around you can skip that professor. And what can I do for you now?"
"It's about the Quidditch season, McGonagall hadn't said anything about when the selection process should take place." Harry slowly fears that they will cancel it too.
"Oh, yes. Well, we still had to consider whether we would allow it at all.", Tonks was silent for a moment. Harry and Ron stood there as if hit by thunder.
"But do not worry. It will take place. Tomorrow I will put a notice on the notice board. Everyone who wants to become hunters will have reported by the end of September. I will then give you the list and you can then set the date." So Tonks finished talking, the boys breathed a sigh of relief.
"Phew! Ok, thank you Tonks. We won't bother you any further. Give Remus our regards." Harry was so happy, he could go on playing Quidditch! The four teenagers then met in the common room. They actually had homework to do, but somehow nobody seemed to be able to concentrate properly.
"That's enough!" Hermione closed her book. "Harry, you shouldn't be with Dumbledore until six, right?"
Harry just nodded. He hadn't thought about it yet, actually he'd rather pushed it aside.
"Well then let's go to Hagrid's by five-thirty. I want to know how he's doing!" Hermione looked at the others expectantly.
"You're right, let's go!" And Ginny had jumped up to take away her school supplies. The others followed suit and five minutes later they made their way to see Hagrid.
Nobody said a word, everyone hung behind their thoughts. When they got to Hagrid's hut, they were a little undecided.
Harry finally took hold of his heart and knocked. Once inside, Fang immediately barked and shortly afterwards Hagrid appeared at the door.Hermione drew in a sharp breath and clasped
