SEARCH FOR LAND MEASURER DISCONTINUED

The search for Masumi Makimura (26), the surveyor who has been missing since the first of this month, has been stopped.
Makimura was in charge of the geological planning of the Götterdamm.
He has been missing for ten days.

With the two newspaper clippings and a photo of Masumi and me, I wanted to make my way to the place where the Götterdamm was to be built.
However, since I didn't know where this place was, I first went to Masumi's apartment.
Before he started work on Götterdamm, he had given me the key to his house. I looked in vain for an address or the name of the place, but it was not mentioned anywhere. But when I opened the cupboard, an old piece of parchment fell into my hands. A map. It showed a wooded area that must have been near Ichihara.
When I had looked at the map carefully and had memorized the railway line, I went underground.
The subway was jam-packed but over time it emptied more and more. I arrived in Ichihara late in the evening. I had to walk the rest of the way.
After a short time I had reached the forest area. In the meantime it had gotten dark and I got a flashlight from my backpack that I had taken from Masumi's apartment before. I lit my way ahead without knowing where exactly I was going.

Several hours had already passed and I had penetrated deep into the forest. Maybe I was lost already? In any case, there was no trace of the Götterdamm project.
Suddenly I noticed something. These statues? For some time now they have been crossing mine.Stones showing a pair of twins appeared on my path at regular intervals. Was that a clue? Masumi, hadn't he mentioned these statues before? Yes, it must have been like that. But there was something else that I couldn't think of anytime soon. So I didn't hesitate long and went on. I had the feeling that Masumi was still alive. He had to be around here somewhere.
"MASUMI !!!", my scream echoed through the forest and suddenly purple butterflies fluttered up in front of me. "Wow!" That left me speechless. I had never seen anything so beautiful. After a while the butterflies in the clouds above me disappeared. Only now did I notice that there was a large gate just a few meters in front of me. I walked slowly through it. A shiver ran down my spine. Where have i been I struggled up the stairs that were directly behind the gate. From a distance one saw a glow of fire falling through the trees and if one listened carefully one could hear a strange singsong.I quickened my pace. Was Masumi here? There was a good chance of finding him here. But what was he doing here? Completely out of breath, I reached a small clearing. "MASUMI?" I called again, but no one answered.
In the meantime it was night and I had to find somewhere to sleep. I walked across the clearing to a cliff and looked down. The fog blocked my view, but I could clearly see a small village at the foot of this cliff. At first I was glad to have found a place to sleep, but then I wondered how this village got in the middle of the forest. No village was shown on Masumi's map and this village was not shown in any atlas. Was it a ruined village? But now I remembered what Masumi had once told me:

"I've heard rumors about the lost village before. A long time ago there was a massacre on the day of a ceremony and the village was wiped out.Twin gods statues in the forest lead lost people to the entrance of the village. But as soon as you step through the gate, you don't come back. The village relives its night of death every night.
The mad laugh of a woman should echo through the village, because the only survivor of the village massacre was a lonely woman. "

Shivering, I took a few steps backwards. I just wanted to get out of here. But was that still possible now? Masumi had said everyone who walks through the gate never comes back. Could there be anything to this legend? I was in a panic and yelled for help: "MASUMI !!! Where are you? Answer me! I need you now!"
