Chapter: The piano

~ The piano ~

Her long fingers darted over the filthy and yellowed keys. It was an ancient piano. One from the baroque, as far as she knew.

She didn't know what she was playing. She didn't know the piece, if it was a familiar piece at all, but she didn't want to think about it.

The sound indicated that the piano had not been tuned in years. It was a disgusting yet mystical sound, like from another world. She sat concentrated on the old, small stool and played her made-up melody. What could have distracted her? Except for the piano and her, there was next to nothing in this room. It was dusty and seemed old, shabby. You could tell that nobody really lived there. Except for her, no one had ever visited it.

Dreamily she saw her nimble fingers wander over the ugly keys. Her narrow face was expressionless and she seemed completely removed. Not a single sound came from her.She hadn't seen people in a long time. She didn't know when it was the last time she'd met someone. But she didn't mind that realization.

She followed her hands with her dark eyes. The silky hair was black, but it gleamed silver in the light. Her pale skin looked white in the pale light, yes it almost seemed to glow. She was wearing a burgundy dress, it seemed very old. A silver chain adorned her narrow neck. A large pendant with a black pearl was attached to it.

Her small feet were also protected by small, elegant, black shoes.

She did not notice how quietly and carefully the golden doorknob turned. The door opened noiselessly. A small head with two eyes wide in amazement emerged. Two thin legs soon followed. Finally the little person arrived in the room and watched the girl at the old piano in amazement. After a long time he padded carefully towards her. She didn't seem to belong to this world. He couldn't find any other way to put it, she seemed from another world. Her figure gave off a strange aura.

Suddenly their game came to an abrupt end. Her previously nimble hands trembled. She looked around frantically for the stranger. Her eyes were wide open. They protruded dangerously, in fact they threatened to fall out of their caves.

Her body shook. The little person saw her fall from her stool with horror. She writhed tightly as if she was having a seizure. Her mouth was opened wide, the expected scream never came out. The beautiful gray fingernails scratched the floor.

The person ran out of the room in fear. The door slammed shut as if by magic. At the same moment one could hear another out of tune melody. However, man had long since disappeared.

Days passed. She did not take a step from the old piano. You could always hear a melody coming from her room.

The golden doorknob turned again. Screeched terribly at the same time. However, she did not hear it. The blond head jutted in. His small, thin legs darted in, always intent on something. He stood there rooted to the spot. Seemed to be taking root too, he was so infatuated with their music.

Time passed, then he went up to her again in great courage. The same procedure took place. Finally she lay on the floor screaming. The little person went on.

The keys were very dirty and dusty. Simply disgusting.

His little hand timidly brushed the old wood. Got stuck on the keys.

Carefully he sat down on the stool. His thin little fingers darted over her. Undistracted, he played a tune. His own melody that never existed.

A sigh. The ashen hand caressed his shoulder. The mind dissolved in dust.

And the little person continued to play concentrated ... until someday someone would dare to tear him away from the old, dirty, out of tune piano.~ THE END ~
