Through unknown land

Through unknown land

The twilight, silently and mysteriously, bathed the land in the typical colors of life.
Amaya and Miyako perceived these colors, the trees, simply the landscape through which they were walking and which was now in full bloom in their splendor, only blurred due to their speed. All the shades of the trees and grass ran into each other and formed an unusual color pattern.

Amaya, the white wolf, ran a little ahead with her snout in the air. She barely noticed her surroundings, even if she wanted to. But all her thoughts, actions and feelings focused on her mother's last will: to find the Kaze wolf demons. Amaya only knew that they lived in the southwest and could therefore only be found there.

Suddenly Amaya slid to a halt, ears erect so that she could absorb every sound. Completely surprised by the sudden emergency stop, Miyako first ran past Amaya. She turned and ran back to her sister, a questioning face. Amaya didn't respond. Every nerve and every fiber of her body was tense to tear. Her ears moved in every direction to absorb every quiet, fuzzy sound.

Suddenly there was a noise from the piece of forest that they had just left to a slightly larger clearing. Amaya immediately spun around, advising to attack anyone who got too close. Now Miyako had also crouched down to be able to sprint in an emergency. Only then did Amaya stare at me that she and Miyako were helplessly exposed to an attack. They were in an oval-shaped clearing in the middle of the thick forest. Amaya and Miyako discovered at the same time that if the worst came to the worst, they couldn't walk blindly into the nearest forest, as they might have been ambushed there.
Miyako was already losing his nerve and restlessly stepping on the spot. All she wanted was one more thing: Get out of here as quickly as possible.

Another sound elicited a threatening growl from Amaya. She had to do something. Should she face the enemy with Miyako or should they flee? If only she only knew if it was any one of Naraku's demons! If Naraku was after them, there was little chance of surviving the fight.

Suddenly Amaya turned to her original path. She said quietly to Miyako: "Run!" and shot off, her sister close on his heels. Just before they plunged into the darkness of the nearest forest, Amaya looked back over her shoulder. A huge millipede broke out of the undergrowth with a loud roar and was lit by the sun in the clearing. It was an incomparably huge insect, but worse than that was the fact that it ran faster than Amaya and Miyako.

"Run faster!" Shouted Amaya and darted through the undergrowth as agile as a cat.Despite her maneuverability, Amaya could not avoid all the branches and was scratched by a few sharp ones, which she hardly noticed. Miyako struggled to keep up, but held up bravely.
"She can't hold out much longer.", Amaya thought worriedly. Suddenly a wide river appeared before them, forming a serpentine meander. The forest thinned out reluctantly and opened up to a manageable steppe. A look to the west showed Amaya a high mountain range with a thundering waterfall, the unbridled masses of water plunging into the depths and foaming to the meander. To the south of the waterfall, even from the plain, a large ledge could be seen that led into a large cave. The landscape was unique and showed great fertility. Everywhere on the steppe trees and bushes shot up and bore juicy fruits.

Amaya was still admiring the landscape when she was interrupted by a pained howl just behind her.Her heart almost stopped and she turned around in a flash. What she then saw did nothing to calm down. Miyako was clutching the millipede, struggling to lose consciousness. The centipede tightened its grip on the wolf and Miyako passed out with a pitiful, loud howl. Amaya knew what to do. More precisely, she had no choice: she just had to save Miyako, her sister. Running away was out of the question for Amaya. With a loud growl, Amaya shot at the insect, which threatened to break Miyako's spine with its tight grasp.

~ Kouga ~

The Kaze's lead wolf, Kouga, was scratching a wolf that had stretched out in front of him, just behind the ears, when a pitiful howl of pain broke the silence. Immediately, Kouga jumped up and ran to the edge of the ledge, followed by two other wolf demons. As soon as Kouga had a full view of the land below, he slid to a halt. The picture that presented itself to him was just too strange to be it could have been: At the foothills of the forest was a millipede holding a brown, apparently unconscious, wolf in his grasp. But Kouga's attention was not on the unconscious, but on the white wolf that shot toward the centipede. The other two wolf demons stared at the white wolf with their mouths open.
"Wow!", It came from one of the two, when the unconscious wolf inflicted a deep scar on the centipede with its razor-sharp claws.

"Come on!", Kouga shouted resolutely and ran down the ledge. Through the splinters of the jewel he reached a breathtaking speed. Within two minutes he reached the white wolf, who once again jumped at the centipede, growling angrily. Before the wolf could sink its claws into the elongated body of the insect, the latter swung its tail and used it like a whip against the wolf. The attack hit its target with full force and the white wolf was thrown back in a high arc with a painful howl and fell into the dust right at Kouga's feet.

With a confident smile, Kouga rushed towards the centipede. With the splinters in his legs, Kouga had an enormous advantage over the insect, at least in terms of speed.
With many lightning-fast movements, Kouga inflicted injuries on the centipede until it finally gave it the coup de grace. With a tortured cry, or at least a sound that sounded like it, the insect shattered into many pieces. Kouga elegantly caught the brown wolf that had fallen after the insect was destroyed. Then he turned to the white wolf, who had straightened up again.
"He's bigger than I thought." Kouga shot through her head. In fact, the white wolf was bigger than any wolves he had ever seen.Without hesitation, Kouga then stepped towards the white wolf.

Amaya didn't know what to do. She looked towards the wolf demon with mixed feelings. On the one hand, her instinct reported not to trust any strange demons on the way, on the other hand, she wanted to show the demon, who had stopped right in front of her and looked down at her, appreciatively, because he was at her side in the hour of need had confessed. Without further ado, she made a decision ...
