My fanfic plays about five months after the sixth volume.
Shortly after Dumbledore died, all wizards (except the bad guys) from England were invited to come to Hogwarts for a meeting. They wanted to discuss what could best be done against Voldemort.
But Voldemort thought, 'Okay, the old sack is dead, now I'm attacking Hogwarts. 'And then he did. A long battle ensued. Many curses and powerful spells were cast during this battle for Hogwarts. (More than half of them went wrong, though) Wizards and witches died, or switched sides, or switched sides and died.
In the end, however, the battle did not bring anybody anything. In the end (after 20 days) Voldemort withdrew with his two remaining (still healthy) servants, his ex-snake and now the sheep Nagini and the rest of the Death Eaters to lick his wounds.There had been great losses at Hogwarts too. The teaching and student body, and anyway the whole English wizarding community, were decimated considerably. The Hogwarts grounds were also damaged: The grounds had been literally dug up by overzealous fighters and the walls had lost all magic. The house-elves and mystical animals were also gone. The latter partly went on for dinner.
Yet. Now, four months later, classes were still taking place. Someone had once said in a drunken stupor that as long as there were students, the school would teach, and someone else had taken it seriously. Therefore, classes were still taking place for the handful of students.
However, no lessons as it should be in a magic school, but normal lessons. Like everyone has had to endure him.
And why? Wizards are few and far between, so students will likely have to look to Muggles for work.And muggles pay more attention to math than potions, and also more to biology than metamorphosis.
And that's how it was now.
