Chapter 2 - In Japan
The next morning the alarm clock rang mercilessly, I wanted to throw it angrily on the next wall because it dared to ring on the first day of the holiday and then also so early. But I remembered better in time and it occurred to me again why I had to get up so early and was wide awake. Finally today my 2 week trip to Japan started. Immediately afterwards I disappeared into the bathroom to take a quick shower and then got dressed in no time at all. Excited, I step into the kitchen, where my parents were already setting the table for breakfast. "Good morning!" I greeted my parents with joy and kissed them on the cheek. "Good morning sweetheart. As I see you are really looking forward to the trip that wasn't? Have you packed everything?", My mother said to me. "Yes, I've packed everything that's important, don't worry. I'm so happy! I'm finally going to Japan," I said cheerfully."You can tell, otherwise you won't be so talkative in the early morning," she said to me and grinned at me. I just nodded as I was just as.
After half an hour we finally head to the airport and I was getting more and more nervous. Only when I checked in did I also realize that I had to separate from my parents for 2 full weeks, not that it would have been, but it's a long way to Japan and I was flying alone. "Mom, Dad, I will miss you. But I promise that I will write to you and I will definitely bring you something," I said before I wanted to go into the locked area. "You don't have to bring anything with you, it's enough for me if you come back healthy, OK?", My mother replied and hugged me again. "I'll take care of myself, after all, I'm not a little kid anymore. So don't worry about me," I said and said goodbye to both of them before I went into the cordoned off area.'So now there's no going back, I'll fly to Japan. I'm so happy, but I'm also a little afraid that I don't know anyone there. Oh will go wrong! 'I encouraged myself and got on the plane. I had a window seat, which of course made me happy. I hadn't flown very often, the last time was a few years ago and I enjoyed looking out the window.
Then the plane took off and I saw how everything got smaller and smaller until we were above the clouds and I could only see clouds far and wide. It looked like a vast sea of cotton wool.
After seeing myself fed up with the cotton wool clouds, I devoted myself to my book, which I had got myself especially for the flight. Because the man next to me didn't look like he was easy to talk to. It was most likely a businessman as he wore a suit and tie, I could of course be wrong. After about an hour there was food and I interrupted my book for something to eat.It wasn't a 5-star meal, but it still tasted good. After a while, I got tired of reading and instead heard some music that made me fall asleep after a while. I only woke up shortly before we were supposed to land when I was woken up by one of the flight attendants who advised me to catch up because we were supposed to land soon. I buckled up and looked out the window, we had already been to Japan and I was fascinated by everything. Further ahead you could see Tokyo. That meant that we would have to arrive soon.
It was like that in the end. Less than half an hour later we had landed and were now waiting on the conveyor belt for our luggage. I was lucky, because after a short time I had my suitcase and moved towards the exit. In the crowd I spotted a man holding a sign that said ´Mrs Sanders`. I walked up to this man with determined steps and greeted him. "Hello, I'm Raiko Sanders.I won the competition, "I told him in Japanese. He looked at me a bit surprised." Hello, but you speak Japanese well. Are you really German? ", he asked, a little taken aback." Yes, I just started learning Japanese early, that's why "I explained to him. After this brief conversation we went to the man's car and drove to a hotel. There he took me to my room and gave me a map of the shrines I should visit in the first week with a qualified guide. Then he said goodbye and let me alone. 'So now I'm in Japan and the way I see it I will be in the first week Look at shrines and then I'll have the second free. I can look around a bit in Tokyo, "I thought happily. I quickly unpacked my things and then called my parents.
"Sanders?" Answered my mother
"Hello mom, it's Raiko. I just wanted to get in touch to tell you that I made it safely to my hotel room," I told her."Nice that you are in touch and that you have arrived safely. Do you already know what your week looks like?", She asked me immediately.
"Yes, the first week I'll look at the shrines and then I'll be able to design the second week myself," I explained to her, "but I don't want to talk too long, otherwise it will be too expensive."
"I understand that, so see you tomorrow!", She replied.
"Yes, see you tomorrow and send my best regards to Dad!" I said goodbye and then hung up.
Since it was shortly after 10 p.m. I went to sleep first, even if I was actually still awake.
But when I still couldn't fall asleep after a while, I decided to walk around a bit. I was walking the busy streets of Tokyo. There were still quite a few people on the way.
I also passed a shrine. I wanted to have a look at it in the following days if it wasn't with the screams to be seen.So I continued to look around. Around midnight I went back to the hotel and went to sleep.
The next morning the alarm clock rang at 7 a.m. But since I was an early riser, it wasn't very difficult for me. I took a quick shower and then went to breakfast.
Around 8 a.m. I was done with it and I packed up some things for the day. Today I should visit the first shrine. At the front desk someone was waiting to take me there and show me everything. It was an older man with gray hair who still looked pretty tough. He has a deep calming voice. In short, I liked him.
He introduced himself to me as Mr. Hyobanshi.
To the first shrine we drove almost through the whole city, on this occasion he also showed me other beautiful places and sights in Tokyo. After a while we came to a temple, it was quite grand and large.I didn't get back to the hotel until late afternoon. On the way to the hotel I met many students who were apparently on their way home. On the way I met a small group of 4 girls. Three probably asked one of them what I understood. "Now tell us about your mysterious friend, because of whom you let Hojo flash off", the one with short hair and a headband asked the girl with the long straight hair. "Read her if she's not ready to talk about it yet," the girl with the curly hair tried to straighten out. I didn't hear the rest of the conversation because I was past them now and I didn't want to listen. I didn't care too much about it, because I knew it from my friends. So I went back to the hotel.
