Chapter 01: change
It's late in the evening and Jaden is still awake in bed. He can't sleep because his first year at Dueling Academy is on his mind. Jaden remembers all the duels and experiences with his friends that he has had since his first day. From his first duel against Chazz, the duel against Bastion to take part in the "duel of the schools" to the duels against the shadow riders. Kuriboh appears out of nowhere and winks at Jaden to show him that he is proud of him.When Jaden sees that, he says to him with a smile on his face ... "Without your help, I wouldn't have made it that far!" Kuriboh then disappears again and Jaden falls back into his thoughts. He remembers the duel against Alexis. Above all, Jaden remembers the sentence he said to Alexis in the middle of the duel ... "I think I'm falling in love with you!". Jaden whelps back and forth in bed, because this sentence just won't get out of his head. When he closes his eyes, Alexi's image is in his mind's eye and that irritates Jaden very much. For as long as he can remember, it has only been about dueling and nothing else, apart from eating and sleeping, of course.
Jaden jumps up and sits down on his bed. He sees his duel disc lying in front of him on the table and grabs his head, ruffles his hair and asks himself ... "What is the matter with me ?! Why is it always going through my head ?!" . Jaden, dejected because he cannot find the answers to his questions, lowers his head.... "Alexis ..." sighs Jaden.
Suddenly Jaden hears steps that seem to come from outside. He gets up in amazement and goes to the door. Jaden quietly opens the door so that Syrus doesn't wake up and takes a step towards the railing. But Jaden can't see anyone when he's looking around. ... "I guess I just imagined it," says Jaden. He stays on the railing for a few seconds before going back in and sitting down on his bed again. Barely a minute has passed before the image of Alexis laughing at him appears in his mind's eye. Jaden grabs his head again and says ... "Pull yourself together! Otherwise you won't close your eyes tonight!". Jaden looks over at Syrus, who is sleeping calmly and peacefully. Jaden smiles and is happy that Syrus has at least one quiet night. Jaden then lies back in his bed and closes his eyes. ... ... "Alexis ..."
That was the last word heard from him that evening.Jaden finally fell asleep shortly afterwards.
But Jaden was wrong when he assumed that there was probably no one out there. Suddenly a shadow appears under the railing. You can't see who it is. You can only hear the shadow say ... "Jaden Yuki! Soon the time will come ... then we'll end it for all time ... you or me!". With these words and an evil laugh, the shadow disappears again into the darkness of the night.
The next morning...
Jaden, Syrus and Chazz, who of course are a long way from the two of them, are sitting at breakfast. "I got myself a new card. That made my deck much stronger. I really have to test it today!" Says Syrus with a big smile. But what Syrus does not notice, because he is so happy, is that Jaden cannot be heard from him at all. Jaden just sits in front of his bowl of rice and pokes at it with his chopsticks. When Chazz saw this from a few tables, he yelled at Syrus ... "Shut up!Nobody listens to you! Nobody cares at all! ". Syrus then angrily jumps up from his chair and runs to Chazz at the table." Shut up! Everything you say is for the ass! ", Syrus replies. They both stare at each other and begin to growl like dogs. While the two do this, Jaden gets up and leaves without saying a word. When Syrus and Chazz notice this, they listen to each other argue and look after Jaden in amazement. ... "Jaden ?! ", says Syrus questioningly.
When Jaden is on his way to the cliffs to look out to sea, Bastion runs into him. "Hi Jaden! Are you okay?", Bastion greets him friendly. Jaden, however, simply walks past him without saying a word or even looking at him. "Jaden ?! ... ... Hello ?! ... Someone at home ?!", Bastion asks when he sees it. Bastion stops in amazement, looks after his friend and wonders what is wrong with him.Bastion then runs over to Syrus and Chazz, who are now standing in front of the entrance and says ... "Do you know what's going on with Jaden ?!". "If you're interested!", Chazz answered dryly and went back inside. "I ask myself that too Bastion!" Replies Syrus. Both watch Jaden afterwards, they don't know anything about him. "Sooner or later he'll tell us. We should just give him time," says Bastion. Syrus nods in agreement. Bastion continues ... "Are you ready, for the first lesson ?!".
Because Professor Banner is no longer there, Crowler has taken over the lessons for more. But Crowler doesn't get it baked again and that's why a sensible lesson is out of the question. Most of the students are asleep or doing something else. Alexis tries to listen carefully to the class, but as I said, this is not possible with Crowler. When she stops listening to Crowler, her gaze falls more and more often and longer on the place where Jaden normally sits."Where are you Jaden? Syrus is there and you are not? You are usually inseparable. Are you all right?" Asks Alexis. She's worried about him. When the lesson is over, Alexis immediately goes over to Syrus and Bastion and asks the two of them ... "Where's Jaden? Bastion answers her with a serious face ... "We don't know Alexis. We have been asking ourselves that all the time." Bastion and Syrus tell Alexis what happened that morning. When Alexis hears that, especially that Jaden hasn't even touched his meal, Alexis gets a bad feeling. Her worries can now also be seen externally. "I have to find him!" Says Alexis and runs out of the classroom.
Chazz, who has looked at it from a safe distance, sitting on his chair, with his feet on the table, says angrily ... "What does Alexis think of this Slyver rivet ?! Chazz Princeton is the No. 1! ".
