Chapter 1
It was a stormy night when a child with blonde hair and green eyes was born. Its mother caught a quick glimpse of her newborn before the pain overwhelmed her and she died in agony. The little child had a scar on his arm that was shaped like a flower.
The girl's blonde hair was blowing in the wind as she carried the heavy shopping bag home. She walked down a long street at the end of which was her house. The street was empty which was very unusual as she lived in a city. The girl put the bag on a small wall that circled the stairs to the subway. She looked around, the only thing she heard was her breathing and soft music coming from an abandoned shop.
“Hm where are all of them.” She took the bag and went on.
Suddenly a ray of light came down from heaven that enveloped everything in a glistening light. She held her hand in front of her eyes so he couldn't blind her. When the light dried up there was where the light beam just before it was, its glistening light radiated a boy.The girl walked up to him but stopped when she saw that the boy had pointed ears. She was about to run away, but a voice inside her stopped her. She gathered up all her courage and continued to approach the boys. He was passed out.
She knelt down to touch him carefully but at that moment he turned around in a flash and held her own with one hand and with the other he held a sharp knife to her neck. She backed away, startled. He mumbled something in an incomprehensible language and fell on her lap from exhaustion, cutting her left shoulder. The girl pushed him away with a loud scream and he lost his knife. She looked down her shoulder and noticed how it was starting to bleed. Only now did she feel pain and began to scream.
When she was looking for something to bandage, she saw the boy's knife and cut off part of her jacket sleeve to bandage with it.She took a closer look at the knife. It had a wooden handle with fine, ornate graphics, which were surrounded by a tendril. On the blade, one could see a few characters that were illegible for her.
The groping of shoes made her startle. She saw life slowly return to the street. The girl got scared. She pocketed the knife, put her cut jacket over him, and put his arm around her good shoulder. So she tried to get to her house as quickly as possible without being spotted by anyone.
When the front door closed behind her, she dropped the shopping bag exhausted and dragged the boy up the stairs to her room. The girl cleared the couch and placed him on it. As she got a blanket she thought
Luckily my mam is going to Indonesia with her lover tomorrow so I only have to hide this boy from her for a day,she sighed "I'm lucky". When she got back to her room she covered the boy and went downstairs to empty the shopping bag.As she was about to put the milk in the refrigerator, she heard the lock on the front door being turned. Her mother came home and yelled, "Hello, Ashley? I'm back." She yelled so loudly that Ashley feared the boy lying unconscious on her couch would wake up. The blonde girl went out of the kitchen and greeted her mother, "Hi Mam." "Hey, what did you do while I was not there." She almost said that a being from another world had cut her shoulder and it was slumbering right now in her room upstairs. After Ashley decided to withhold it from her mother, she said only curtly: "I went shopping." and pointed to the kitchen. Her mother went to the shopping bag to finish clearing it.
As she had just disappeared around the corner, Ashley heard a low voice calling her name:
Ashley
She winced and went into the kitchen to ask her mother if she had heard something too, she just shook her head.Ashley
"There you heard that." Ashley yelled "No, honey. I think you are a bit exhausted. Come to your room and take a rest." "Hm okay as you mean."
As she got closer and closer to her room, the voice she heard grew louder and louder until it was so loud that her mother should definitely have heard it. She opened the door to her room and saw the boy lying quietly and peacefully asleep on the couch. She heard her again, but this time the voice wasn't in her head, the boy says, he moved his lips trembling. She slammed the door and ran over to the couch to kneel beside him. He said her name is trembling. She said, "Yes I'm here. What is it?" He said again
"Ashley!"
She felt his forehead the boy had a fever. Ashley got a washcloth soaked in cold water and placed it on the boy's forehead. Now he was trembling all over and turning his head violently back and forth. She ran to her mother and asked her if she knew what helped against a fever "Why do you ask?"" It's because of the school, I have to look it up. So do we mind? "" Um, yes, wait a minute. "Your mother went from the kitchen into the bathroom and came back with a small package." Here you go. " " Thanks. "Ashley hurried out of the kitchen and stormed into her room. She opened the package and gave the boy one of the green pills.
After half an hour full of anxiety, the boy lay there calmly as before and made no sound. Ashley let out a sigh of relief and fasted the boy's forehead, the fever had receded. His brown hair hung down on his face. Ashley brushed his hair aside, but quickly pulled her hand back as her aching shoulder reminded her of what had happened the last time she tried to touch him.
She took another breath and looked at the clock. It was already seven thirty and she went downstairs to eat. When she was done she watched the news to find out if anyone else had seen the pillar of light. However, there was no report of any pillars of light.
So she went up to the bathroom to get ready. She rubbed her arm. When she took off her top, the scar appeared in the form of a flower. Ashley looked at her in the mirror. She had had the scar for as long as she could remember. Since the boy was there, she tickled and sometimes it hurt.
That night she had a strange dream.
[i]She dreamed that the boy was standing on a withered meadow and behind him was only a single tree that gradually lost all of its leaves. The boy always pointed to the black horizon that seemed to get closer and closer. He wanted to say something to her, but not a single sound came out of him and then, then he was swallowed up by the black nothingness that was getting closer and closer and with him all of his surroundings. She heard him scream before he was devoured by nothing. It was a terrible scream that sounded like you would hear thousands of people screaming at once because you stabbed them all from behind. She woke up drenched in sweat and looked over at the boy. She whispered, “What are you going to tell me?” Ashley lay down again and fell asleep. That night she dreamed this terrifying dream a few more times and it always ended with the boy screaming into the black nothingness.
