The name tag
Sakura Harunowas the name that could be read on a small plastic label attached to the breast pocket of her white coat. The sign wasn't new anymore. The plastic curled a little at the corners and the name was already beginning to fade. It was old, but she didn't want a new one. This nameplate was the first one she had received at Konohagakure Hospital. She had been working there for several years - with great success.Pink hair bobbed with every step, and jade green eyes narrowed as she yawned again. The night shift had been exhausting and so she had only started on her way home with the rising sun.
As she turned the key in the lock of the apartment door, a soft sigh escaped her at the thought of the empty apartment that would greet her. An apartment in which she often lived alone, but which she actually shared with someone.
The young woman closed the door and took off her shoes. She entered the living room, but stopped in the doorway and closed her eyes for a moment. At home.
With closed lids, she said softly "I'm at home" in the empty room without waiting for an answer. So she opened her eyes again in surprise when someone calmly replied: "Welcome back."
A dark-haired young man sat cross-legged at the table. He was still wearing the uniform of an ANBU and the metal of his forearm guards shimmered faintly in the light of the morning sun.Two covered tea mugs stood in front of him on the table top, of which he closed one of the Sakura after she had taken a seat across from him.
She carefully removed the lid from the mug and cupped it with both hands, but did not drink. "You will be back sooner than expected, Sasuke-kun," she stated. He nodded. "The mission," she asked. "Successful," he replied. “Are you hurt?” A negative gesture. She sighed in relief and sipped the tea.
For a while they silently enjoyed each other's company. Then Sasuke pointed to the dented nameplate on Sakura's smock, which she had forgotten to take off, and said: “It's time you renewed that.” A little embarrassed about this unexpected statement, she fingered the small piece of plastic. A slight blush crept onto her cheeks and she lowered her eyes. "It's the first ... and ... and somehow I'm attached to it. It's special." Raising her gaze again, she added slightly defiantly: "Besides, I usually don't have time to think about doing a new one. "A smile tugged at the corners of the young man's mouth and entered his tired, black eyes. "I know," he said simply, and placed a small parcel wrapped in tissue paper on the table top. He took hers briefly in one hand and held it for a moment, then stood up. “I'm going to sleep.” Without turning around or waiting, he left the room.
Surprised, she reached for the package. Paper rustled, then she took a deep breath and pressed a hand over her mouth.
On lilac-colored tissue paper was a small metal nameplate that had a matt sheen. A name was engraved there in curved letters:Sakura Uchiha.
